Hanahaki Disease (unrequited love) | Hanahaki (Amor no correspondido)
the distance between them gets closer & their expressions softens with each passing time spent together 💜💙
to finish off this year's SasuHina month, here's a little montage of how the pair met, fell in love & where they stand now as the leaders of Konoha's strongest clan thus far.
didn't get to do much bcs of my busy schedule but happy to join this event for another year 😭😭🥺
Hinata always gets anxious whenever her husband or one of her children goes away on missions. it distracts her from work as she often finds herself spacing out.
so, what happens when they're both away on a mission together?
her anxiety peaks.
one fine day, Sasuke & his oldest daughter, Chiyuki - a fresh Genin were dispatched to the Land of Snow for a mission. Hinata was restless and she was fanning herself in the teahouse.
"Sasuke hasn't wrote a letter back.."
she lamented as she stared off to space.
"are they alright? did they run into trouble??"
she was questioning herself as she frantically fanned herself faster and faster. Shoichi, her oldest son watched worriedly from the sidelines.
"mother.."
he called out nervously.
"i'm sure father and Chiyuki are just busy! or maybe the letter is already heading this way!!"
he tried to alleviate her worries with some words of encouragement. sure enough, a letter arrived that evening and Hinata was relieved temporarily.
her daughter wrote about her adventures in the snow covered land and how Sasuke protected her from harm. a week later, she returned home with her father.
Sasuke was expecting a warm hug from Hinata the moment he stepped in the village but his wife went straight for their daughter instead.
neverthless, after they all settled down back home, Hinata went straight for her husband. now that they're both home again, she had less worries indeed.
Hinata remembers. she always does. but as matriach and businesswoman, her schedule can get hectic and she overlooks certain matters.
that's when she enlists the help of her trusted husband, Uchiha Sasuke!
he knows how important these events are to Hinata and he knows exactly why to never enrage her..
-
one fine day, Himawari refused to have her mother attend yet another parent-teacher meeting with Shino at the Academy. she quickly begged her father to not remind Hinata about this meeting on the big day.
although he was hesitant at first, how could Sasuke refuse a request from his daughter?
on the day itself, Sasuke was nervous! he avoided eye contact at all costs till Hinata called him out.
"darling, do i hve any other matters to attend today?"
he could visualise Hinata's rage as he told a white lie.
"not at all, love! that's all."
the short silence was suffocating.
"oh alright then!"
he could finally breathe again as Hinata walked out the door.
"you're the best, dad! i knew i could count on you!"
Himawari grinned as she celebrated their victory together. Sasuke sighed heavily.
"let's not do this again please.."
and he never will as this victory was simply temporary ~
the moment Hinata got home, Sasuke knew it was the end. we all know the man had prepared his whole life to execute revenge on his older brother
but it seems nothing in life has prepared him for his own wife's wrath
when he wasn't married, Sasuke had always been protective of himself as he was highly chased after due to his good looks and noble background. after all that he has been through, including the ultimate betrayal by his own brother, he has kept himself well-guarded.
that was until he courted Hyuga Hinata and he continued to protect those he holds dear to his heart. when they are travelling in the foreign land, Sasuke always had his partner secured beside him to ensure her safety at all times. there were times when men disregarded Sasuke's presence and attempted to woo Hinata which resulted in them receiving his intense anger.
after marrying Hinata, he continued to protect their children. he knew the people adored his beloved daughter, Chiyuki but he also felt the underlying stigma that continued to linger among the villagers. whenever he sensed a minor disturbance, he'd immediately step in to protect his daughter.
"i apologise to cut the conversation short but i believe my daughter has ikebana lessons now."
his oldest son, Shoichi inherited his mother's beauty and his own charms and became the centre of attention at a young age. when things get too overwhelming for him, Sasuke knows when to step in and intefere too.
Sasuke turned to Hinata as they sat in one of the restaurants at the Southern region. they had just spoken to one of their dear friends who had trouble over a young woman. to Sasuke, it sounded like a usual disagreement between friends but Hinata thought otherwise.
he took a bite of his food before asking, "why do you think so?"
Hinata formed a smile. "the way he was talking about her.."
when she said that, Sasuke went blank. he was good at observing people on the battlefield but isn't the brightest when it comes to social cues.
"oh really?" he was genuinely curious. "how so?"
"well.." Hinata began explaining his body language and choice of words to Sasuke, which made her suspect such things.
as Sasuke listened attentively, it did make sense to him and he learnt one thing about his partner - how good she was at observing people.
after that, the pair left the restaurant to continue on with their stroll.
"hey, Hinata.." Sasuke called out. she turned back to look at him with a smile.
"yeah?"
"could you.." his voice trailed away as he scratched the back of his head shyly. "could you perhaps teach me? how to read others..?"
Hinata was silent for a moment before giggling softly.
"i'm not really the best at it but sure!"
"there's something going on between them." Sasuke folded his arms.
both Naruto and Ino were bickering in front of them, as they returned to Konohagakure for the Summer.
it was the usual but Sasuke could see there was something different. they were closer than before and they kept initiating physical touch.
Hinata chuckled softly. "you're right, dear."
she linked their hands together as they returned to their usual stroll.
"you're getting better at this!" Hinata teased as she stood closer to Sasuke.
he smiled. "well i learnt from the best didn't i?"
Hinata grinned with a slight blush on her cheeks.
as the pair got closer, her habits eventually rubbed onto Sasuke. together, they'd observe the world around them and share their thoughts which eventually brought them closer than ever before.
"let me guess.." Sasuke chuckled softly as he turned to Hinata beside him. they paraded around Konohagakure in their wedding attire before heading towards the sacred Leaf Shrine to be wedded.
he took her hand in his firmly. "are you nervous?"
"a little," she admitted with a giggle. "but i think i'm ready. i'm ready to face eternity with you, my love."
Sasuke softened up and smiled.
"so am i, Hinata."
as the years went by, their bond deepened as husband and wife. not only did they learn to observe the people around them, they continue to pick up each other's emotions with a single glance.
in fact, they can also detect their children's emotions effortlessly.
"is something bothering you, son?"
Sasuke gently approached his ever calm and pristine son, Shoichi. he was arranging go pieces on the board at the veranda.
he gently shook his head. "it's nothing, father.."
"nonsense, my son," he sat across the board and helped him arrange the black pieces. "you can hide your emotions from others but i doubt you can escape your mother or me.."
Shoichi sighed softly, admitting defeat at last.
"what gives?" he decided to tease his father a little bit. "did you see me through your Sharingan?"
Sasuke bursted into laughter. his son definitely picked up their peculiar sense of humour.
"well.." he began, just like how Hinata would start her explanation, that the first time.
Hinata spent most of her youth post-war traveling by Sasuke's side. surprisingly, they had good chemistry for a couple who only started interacting post-war. sure, she has known him since childhood as classmates, and the fact that they're both from noble background. however, they never interacted yet she felt so connected to the man.
as they discovered the world together, they resonated with one another to the point that they could talk telepathically. they could read each other's minds just by looking at their faces. Hinata can sense Sasuke's quick change of emotions and bail him out of uncomfortable situations immediately. when Hinata gets too overwhelmed or nervous, Sasuke knows when to step in and gently pull her away from the stressor.
they might be glued to each other, at this point because they did everything together. Sasuke rebuilt the Uchiha clan with Hinata by his side. through thick and thin, even when they'd be at odds with the Hyuga clan, she stands by his side. they are the face of the Uchiha clan together and you know it's incomplete, if one of them is absent.
"are you not tired of your husband?"
Temari teased. the ladies were enjoying an evening together at the teahouse. Hinata chuckled as she served them tea.
"well, sometimes I still want my own space of course."
Ino smirked.
"don't lie, Hinata. I know you still think of your husband even when you're not together!"
the ladies bursted into laughter. Hinata sighed with a smile, she was indeed caught red-handed. it is the same for Sasuke anyways.
"Chiyuki, is there any word from your mother?"
Sasuke peeked into the living room, where his oldest daughter was painting. she looked up momentarily to her father and shook her head.
"no, papa," she gently said.
Sasuke sighed in frustration and marched to the main hall. she couldn't help but chuckle softly at his anxious reaction.
"relax, father," Shoichi teased.
the two gentlemen stood in the main hall, enjoying tea.
it has been 1 hour since Sasuke enquired Chiyuki about his wife. he has yet to relax.
"mother's stronger than you think. she'll be alright.."
"yes, i'm aware of that son," it didn't help alleviate his worries though. he was still sweating buckets.
"but i just can't help it! it's been too long since she left!"
"father, it's been only one day."
"but still-"
they turned their heads as they heard a falcon cry.
"ah." Shoichi realised. "it must be from-"
Sasuke sprinted to fetch his falcon and took the message attached to it.
almost instantly, his expressions melted and Shoichi knew at that moment - it was from Hinata, reassuring her husband that she was safe and sound.
well, it seems that even being miles apart can never seperate this pair after all.
Sasuke loved his coffee. surprisingly, he enjoys it with condensed milk and aims for that right amount of sweetness. when he was travelling, he'd never miss his cup of instant coffee which gives him an instant burst of energy.
he is a perfectionist with his drink and never lets anyone prepare it for him. not even team Taka had successfully made a cup of coffee for Sasuke to enjoy. that was until Hinata prepared it for him.
they were helping out the village with rebuilding the community post-war and sat down to have lunch together, as always. Sasuke opened up his bento box and started to enjoy his meal.
"Sasuke-kun, I made some coffee.."
Hinata offered a flask to him. she had poured some into the cup beforehand. Sasuke turned to her and thanked her, carefully taking it in his hands.
after blowing some air to the cup to cool it down, he took a sip. his eyes widened as he tasted the coffee.
Hinata noticed his change and looked at him worriedly.
"is everything ok? is it not good??"
quite the opposite, really. it was perfect. just the right amount of sweet and bitter, like how he loves it. Sasuke couldn't help but form a small smile.
"no, it's really good. i love it."
he said as he finished up the cup. he took the flask and poured more.
"thank you, Hinata."
his few words made her smile. it was the first of the many cups of coffee Hinata would make for him ever since then.
on the contrary, Hinata loved tea and it'd be any tea leaves. in fact, she enjoys trying out new flavours and she took the opportunity when they were travelling abroad.
when they arrived at the Southern islands of the Land Beyond, she instantly fell in love with the spices introduced to her by the merchant. she had to bring them back home to enjoy the hot tea at the comforts of her home.
in fact, Sasuke was so in love with her at that time, he bought a large batch of spices to be brought back to the 5 Great Nations. he kept in contact with the merchants and became business partners for their thriving tea business back home.
Hinata's passion for tea became the reason she is the Richest Lady in Konohagakure.
now, to unwind after a long day of running errands and managing affairs, the couple would enjoy their respective cups of coffee and tea at the veranda.
opposite flavours yet always together, side by side.
it was raining, Sasuke clearly recalled. he waited at the Konoha Gates to venture out again on his journey alone. his destination? the islands far beyond the 5 Great Nations, where very few had made it to. several ancestors of it made allies with a clan from that region and he decided to see the land for himself.
he's still a criminal to the people in this village, no matter the deeds he done for them. not like Sasuke was doing it for their attention anyway. his friends had been accepting of his return but he still needed to forgive himself, he thought.
as he stepped out of the shelter, only his hood sheltered him from the cold raindrops. it was only for a brief moment then he felt no more droplets.
"Hyuga?"
he turned to a familiar figure with a familiar smile. Hinata was dressed in her outdoor gear with the similar cloak over her. it seemed she was also carrying bags of supplies to sustain her on the road. but to where?
"is there room for one more?"
she asked, reminding him of her previous request - to join him on his travels. Sasuke's eyes widened as he just looked at her. she had a red umbrella over them, keeping them safe from the rain.
"it's gonna be a long one. we might not be home for years."
"it's alright. i don't mind."
she chuckled as they both finally stood side by side under the umbrella. gently, Sasuke took it from her as the taller one. he could almost feel Hinata's heartbeat and warmth as she stood so close, next to him.
"i think you need the company more than i do."
she teased, a broad grin forming. the young man chuckled and looked at the road ahead of them. well, if she insisted, he thought and the pair made their way out.
interesting, the rain stopped as Hinata arrived next to Sasuke, that evening. the sunshine rays pierced through the heavy clouds, and illuminated the world around them.
perhaps, it was just like how Hinata's presence was the Sun in Sasuke's life. she arrived at the perfect time, when he needed sunshine in his life that was filled with too much rain and sorrow.
it was sunny that day instead, when the pair was returning home from their long journey away. they stood at the deck as the ship sailed across the vast ocean.
"you ready to go home?"
Hinata approached her lover, gently hugging his arm as she stood beside him. they smiled as she rested her head on his shoulder.
he nodded.
"yeah.. it's been a long journey, Hinata. time to go home."
he turned to meet her eyes and he still felt the same sunshine warmth as he did the first time.
"thank you for coming that day. even in the rain."
she giggled softly as she understood exactly what he was referencing.
"rain or shine, Sasuke. i would've showed up either way.."
upon his defeat by Asura, Indra wandered the land as a broken man with thirst for vengeance. that was when he encountered the small community of Anchikar, nestled in the south of the Land of Fire.
this community piqued his interest. they were capable of wielding fire and history and traditions were passed down orally from generation to generation. from a young age, their lives revolved around the gift given to them by the God of Flames, Hi no Yakihiko.
he anticipated rejection when one of the villagers approached him. he thought his evil deeds and reputation would preceed him but they welcomed him.
the Chief, a descendant of the Ayai Family gave him refuge and allowed him to live among their little community. slowly, Indra learnt the hunting and traditions of the Anchikar community.
for once, he found peace and solace in a foreign place. he even found friendship with the Chief's daughter, Fuchi. eventually, the Chief united them in marriage.
she was a beautiful huntress who was a great fighter yet possessed a tender heart. although Indra continued to pursue power and vengeance, she patiently stood by his side. she prayed to Hi no Yakihiko, the God of Flames, that his heart would turn to a new leaf.
unfortunately, Fuchi died before her prayers were answered. in fact, it took another reincarnation cycle to answer it.
Indra's hatred flows through the veins of their descendants as they continued his legacy to overthrow their rivals, the Senju Clan. amidst the war, Uchiha Madara rose from the ashes and became a prominent figure throughout history.
hidden from mankind's knowledge was his beautiful lover, Arima. ironically, Arima was a Senju and she possessed the same beauty and patience as Fuchi. she also shared her prayers, to see Madara change his ways, as she bore their son.
sadly, Arima lost her life to mankind's sworn enemy and their son, Seiichiro was ripped away from her. with this cycle of reincarnation ended, another one begins.
Uchiha Sasuke was born from Upash, the 3rd son of Fuchi, and his life was shrouded in tragedy from a young age. his whole family slain by his beloved brother and the curse of vengeance and hatred grew in him, from then on.
this young man carried the burden of accummulated hatred from his ancestors. a burden so heavy that he became mad at the tender age of 16. he was already labelled a criminal then, by the world who wronged him.
when he thought he can never be forgiven, he found solace and comfort in Hyuga Hinata. she had always been there, watching and observing. they had crossed paths as children yet fate only brought them together when it was right - when they knew Sasuke needed reassurance and love, and she needed strength.
the pair complimented each other perfectly. Hinata, kind and pure, the 2nd reincarnation of Fuchi, embraced his shame and sins. with the Otsutsuki blood united, the Curse and cycle ended and Fuchi's prayers answered.
the Uchiha's past was filled with darkness but the flames of Hi no Yakihiko and the light of the Senju and Hyuga purged it for its brighter future.
everyone knows that Sasuke & Hinata are quiet people. they're focused and dedicated to their responsibilities & they do a lot of observations. it makes everyone wonder what really goes on inside their minds.
what does Sasuke think of when he goes through the pile of official paperwork for the clan? is he thinking of their future? or is he still plagued by the negative stigma the villagers continue to have?
is Hinata pinpointing potential business rivals in the meeting room or is she observing the market for new business opportunities? or perhaps she has so much to say but so little words running inside her head?
regardless, behind close doors, the couples are the opposite of silent. they are a loud and happy couple who find comfort in the silence between them. if you stand close to the Uchiha estate, you might hear the couple laughing over a game of cards.

not only do these eyes contrast one another, they shine like precious diamonds & hold ancient power envied by many others
Hinata was no stranger to the many attempts of stealing the Byakugan secrets, and Sasuke used to be the sole surviving carrier of the Sharingan
now, their children carry the memories, legacies and the burden of these eyes passed down from their ancestors

when Hinata and Sasuke married, they united the Otsutsuki bloodline which made the Rinnegan an inherited gene. the Byakugan manifested by their 2 daughters, Hisa and Himawari are also known as the 'mutated' Byakugan.
hence, it is the Hyuga clan's secret agenda to restore the Byakugan purity by arranging the surviving Byakugan heiress, Himawari with one of their own prodigies.
when the Uchiha estate was emptied by Itachi's actions, Sasuke's heart also became a void that night. Hinata could only wonder if one day it could be filled again with warmth & love.
many years later, it did - she did. his heart was now overflowing with happiness & love from her. the Uchiha estate now filled with laughter & cries of happy children.
