I keep seeing people talk about the general audience (I will say it does tend to be BT fans, of which I am not, I’m pretty indifferent. Yes I do like Buddie, I think they would be a compelling story, but I don’t need them in a romantic relationship to enjoy the show. With BT they were fine while they were together but I’m not sad they broke up. It’s the same way I have felt about most non-main character love interests on any tv show I’ve ever watched, not just 911, even when I have shipped one half with someone else).
Anyway - They keep saying the general audience loves Tommy and they want him back and they’ll convince Tim/ABC etc to change their mind and bring Lou back.
And I’m just wondering how does anyone know what the general audience is thinking? Are the general audience not the people who just watch the show, and don’t interact with anyone online. They watch it with their family, talk about it with their friends. They don’t comment on Instagram or write to ABC.
One post in particular was about the general audience and Instagram comments. So I went on Instagram thinking there would be like ten thousand comments all about how people love BT and want them back. But no post exceeds 3000 comments - and there is a real mix of positive comments about how great the episode is or glad he is gone as well as the comments about wanting BT back.
There is also over 40,000 likes on each post - is that not more indicative of the ‘general audience’??
My brain does not like when I can’t logically work something out and at the moment the math is not mathing!!!
So can anyone explain (without bashing any character/actor/ship/opposing fanbase) please and thank you ☺️
I stand by it Confessions is my favorite episode too.
And hot take I really loved the breakup monologue. "You think this is the best you'll ever have because it's the best you've ever had" is even more personal when it's queer and though it was definitely a personal decision of Tommy's and could have worked out - the nature of any tragedy - it was also very sweet.
What Tommy is essentially saying is that the feeling Buck feels for him isn't just romance, he hasn't experienced queerness outside of Tommy so he doesn't know which parts are queerness and which are Tommy. And yes, he doesn't necessarily need to, but what I'm saying is that the beauty of it is that what Tommy is telling him is:
The joy you feel isn't in me. It's in you. When I leave, that freedom will still be there. Queerness and I came into your life at exactly the same time, but I do not take the queerness with me. Your ease will remain.

This has been weighing on me but it’s extremely telling who is mad about #LetBuckFuck. If you aren’t aware of what this or why people are mad about it and calling Oliver Stark Biphobic, here are screenshots from his interview with TV Line and his story defending it.
I fully agree with Oliver. #LetBuckFuck is just having a hot girl summer winter and being mad and calling it biphobic is kind of gross. Queer people have sex. Queer people hook up on apps. Queer people go to the club. Queer people have sex!
#LetBuckFuck is an extremely sex positive point of view. And I would love to see Buck have a healthy relationship with casual sex again. Buck is in a much healthier place in his life than he was in s1, and getting to explore sex and sexuality without worry would be freeing to him.
Also to call Oliver biphobic is kind of crazy to me, because 1) we do not actually know Oliver’s sexuality (and I’m not speculating here btw, so keep accusations down). And 2) Oliver has been pushing for and defending Bi Buck for YEARS. He has talked, at length, how he has played Buck as bisexual for a long time without permission. How he has pushed for them to pick up the dropped Bi Buck storyline every season.
His story on Bi Visibility Day and talking about how important Buck being sexual is to him. How on MONDAY of this week he corrected a news anchor on Buck’s sexuality and the language to use about him discovering himself. Oliver cares deeply about this story. And to say he doesn’t is actually dumb. I’m sorry.
You’re saying the actor who has been living in Buck’s shoes for the better half of a decade cares less about storylines than you? The same actor who made it clear that this specific storyline has been important to him? That Buck’s bisexuality is about BUCK and ONLY Buck?
So be honest. You’re mad about #LetBuckFuck because Buck fucking people is further proof that your ship is over.
Also you should be mad at the guy who took your money and acted like he was going to get a supporting contract when that was never in his cards because he was scamming fans, breaking ndas, and using Disney ip to make money.

I want Buck to sleep around a little bit and then for someone to say something like „I thought you weren’t doing that anymore” and for him to respond „I’m not. This is different. Back then I thought this would be the only way for me to not be alone, I thought it was all I was good for. Now I’m doing this for myself, you know? To fully embrace myself and learn something.”
Bonus points if then someone will go „And how’s it going? Learnt something?”

Honestly that last part can be completely different, I just want to hear him say the word bisexual
