calling ostark a biphobe just feels wrong. i understand oliver, as a straight(?) man, will never fully understand our struggles as bisexual people. but this guy has been trying his best to get actual good bisexual representation in 9-1-1. he was immediately on board with bisexual buck. and he's talked so many times about wanting good rep for bi men on network tv. he calls out anyone that makes any negative remarks or disrespects buck's bisexuality. for the last 2 bisexual awareness days, this man has posted on instagram about how proud he is of telling the story of a bisexual man. he outright told people that if they don't like bi buck, they might as well stop watching 9-1-1.

i understand people's concerns about bisexual stereotypes with the whole #LetBuckFuck thing. because, yes. bisexual people don't have to alternate between dating women and men in order to "prove" they are in fact bisexual. but i would be a lot more concerned about the stereotypes if buck wasn't canonically a whore. buck is someone that (although hasn't always had a healthy relationship with sex) is someone who enjoys sex! and bisexuals don't have to stay celibate to be valid. just like they don't have to sleep around in order to be valid.

would i prefer if they just let buck say the word 'bisexual'? absolutely. but oliver is right in one thing: not everyone understands what bisexuality entails. and the fact that a lot of people started complaining about buck being suddenly 'gay' is proof of that. it doesn't always come from a place of bigotry. sometimes it's just... ignorance.

a lot of people in the fandom forget that a big chunk of the people that watch 9-1-1 are just general audience. they don't follow the actors or watch/read interviews. they just sit infront of the tv on thursdays and watch an episode of a procedural drama about first responders.

buck outright saying he's bi would help A LOT, no doubt. but, for whatever reason, the network is hesitant in doing it. so the next best thing is showing buck on dates/hooking up with both men and women.

i really do hope that someday, we will actually get buck saying outloud and proud that he is a bisexual man. until then, i don't really mind the whole #LetBuckFuck.

while buck is crashing out over every one of his dates going badly, eddie is living his best life because all of buck's dates are going badly. eddie does not like sharing buck with anyone. buck and ali weren't that serious so he shrugged it off. eddie hated taylor. he was dating marisol when buck was with natalia so he didnt think abt it too much. he hated tommy more than he hated taylor. he doesn't even like abby and eddie wasn't even with the 118 when all that went down. but buck going on dates does not mean he's together with anyone meaning eddie still has buck and he doesn't have to share his best friend.

i hope though that buck does find someone he decently likes and is talking abt them to eddie and eddie is holding in every bitchy comment he wants to make and is restraining himself so badly from telling buck "no more dates. your mine"

Buck has spent the past 8 years acting like sex is taboo and wrong for him, specifically because he was Buck 1.0

In season 2, he apologizes to Taylor because he "isn't that guy anymore" after Taylor comes onto him. He has had shitty relationship after shitty relationship because he is looking for an answer in these people that he is simply never going to find in them.

I saw a post sometime ago about how Buck looks to other people to ask for reassurance in his own feelings. "Am I lonely?" "Am I at peace?" "How do you know?"

But he does this in other ways, too. He told Tommy that he feels comfortable in his own skin Because Tommy is comfortable with who Tommy is. That's just another way for Buck to find validation in what he feels.

That's why Tommy broke up with him. You can accuse Tommy of a lot of things, but he is at least self-aware. He hears Buck ask him to move in, not because Buck loves him and wants him around but because he makes Buck "comfortable," and personally, no one deserves to be kept around as a validation device.

That's what makes Tommy say Buck will break his heart. That's why Tommy leaves. It's parallel to Buck asking Taylor to move in with him. Except Tommy is older and listening to what Buck is saying.

Buck told Taylor "I thought I could learn to live with it."

and he told Josh, "I could see a future with him."

And that's where some of you got lost. He doesn't see a future with Tommy, but he thinks he could—hypothetically—because Buck wants a future with someone.

Taylor Kelly and Tommy Kinard have the same blueprint relationship with Buck. Kelly is her middle name. He was engaged to Abby. Things Buck finds out way too late into the relationship because he goes with the flow and doesn't talk to the people he dates.

Which brings me back to #LetBuckFuck. Now, sex is morally neutral. Having sex with 100 people doesn't make you a degenerate, and only having had sex with one person doesn't make you a saint. Also, neither means you have a healthy relationship with sex.

Bobby made a point to Buck that a bunch of random hook-ups wouldn't fill the whole Buck feels in his chest, and Buck internalized that to mean if he didn't have a hook-up at all, he would eventually find the thing that did fill that hole. Which theoretically could work.

Except Buck missed the part where the reason why hook-ups don't fill the hole isn't that hook-ups are bad. It is that the hole has to be filled from the things within.

The sex had nothing to do with it. Now, it's been 8 years and 5 failed relationships later and Buck is still working under a false presumption.

Some people found Oliver's call for Buck to fuck to mean he wants Buck to regress. But failed to see that Buck is actually still a stupid lil punk putting whatever fits into the square hole.

Let Buck Fuck. Let Buck realize his worth isn't in other people. Let Buck realize he can have sex, and his worth isn't tied to it AT ALL.

Stop being like Buck. Stop letting Buck's relationships define him.

BRING BACK THE WHIMSY AND CHAOS IN SEASON 9

I need more whimsical moments in 911 Season 9 — like the “Jinx” and “Treasure Hunt” episodes.

Something lighthearted that shows them dealing with bizarre calls, everyday chaos, or just pure personal shenanigans.

Give me episodes where we see their playful, petty, or chaotic sides.

Interdepartmental competitions, weird shifts, prank wars — anything fun and entertaining!

I’m just tired of the heavy-hearted, tearjerker episodes. Let them breathe. Let us breathe.

Some couples’ chaos would be very welcome too:

Buck spiralling through his bisexual dating era? Yes, please.

Maddie and Chim dealing with two toddlers in full tantrum mode.

Eddie and Chris being the most adorable father-son duo.

Karen and Hen navigating ridiculous neighbourhood/ workplace drama.

ALL the couples going out for date night and leaving Buck and Eddie to babysit the entire kid squad = a night of chaos and accidental parenting.

Or Eddie and Buck battling nosy neighbours as they do their whole moving-in and moving-out debacle.

Just give us a little joy. A little chaos. A little fun.

So Buck is potentially sleeping around and that’s apparently.. um biphobic to have the bi character do something he finds enjoyable. The bi character who has always enjoyed sex even before he knew he was bi. He can’t like sex anymore. Because he is bi.

He expected it to be weird the first time, since he still thought of it as Eddie’s house, Eddie’s room, Eddie’s bed, but after he did it once, he figured it broke the seal or whatever. After that, it’d be no big deal. It’s not. Somehow, it’s worse.

Eddie moves to El Paso. Buck moves into Eddie's house. Buck fucks (a lot of) people in Eddie's bed.

To absolutely no one's surprise, it's all about Eddie the whole time.

chiming in on the letbuckfuck #letbuckfuck and the whole casual sex discourse, i kind of agree with both sides?

let me elaborate. so on one side we have #letbuckfuck who makes a pretty compelling arguement about allowing buck to explore sex now that he's much older and mature, especially since he had a pretty unhealthy relationship with sex during his teen and young adult years and recieved somewhat questionable advice on how to view sex from Bobby (RIP). and I don't disagree with this, not entirely at least. I feel that Buck's unhealthy views on sex and intimacy kind of went forgotten and unexplored. he went from 100 to zero after meeting Abby and from what we've SEEN on canon, he only had casual sex with one person outside of a committed relationship (taylor) who he eventually did get in a relationship with. (and also the one night stand with tommy but I digress)

and on the other side of the arguement we have fans who are frustrated with Buck having to re-learn how to be alone and how to be a good boyfriend over and over without making any notable progress throughout the seasons despite (accodring to buck) being in therapy regularly. they want this cycle to be broken and for buck to finally get into his last relationship and explore his issues there and grow within that relationship (ofc im talking about buddie) with his last and true pair. which again, I agree with. we've seen buck handle conflicts inside his relationships pretty poorly multiple times and maybe it's time that he deals with them once and for all and find his happily ever after in the long run.

so where do i actually stand in this discourse? did you think i don't have an opinion? lsidflj

for the former arguement, my personal critique on it (and I don't mean this to be attacking on anyone else's opinion. i 100% respect the #letbuckfuck truthers) is that the show has lost the appropriate window of time to explore that. instead of having him go from one relationship to another without having any flings and one-night stands with other people in between serious relationships (that most young and attractive guys have) for eight seasons, they should've explored that while he was "learning and growing" for 8 years. they should've let him fuck after his breakup with ali. they should've let him fuck after taylor and they definintely should've let him fuck after natalia and maybe use that time to hint on his bisexuality instead of springing it onto the audience out of nowhere (again, thats my perosnal opinion).

and then there's the arguement that he has already healed his unhealthy relationship with sex and him having casual sex isn't him falling back onto his old coping mechanisms, but that begs the question; how do we know that for sure? because at no point in the last 8 seasons has that topic been shown to be explored or even verbally discussed. I personally don't assume that he's "fixed" just bc its been years and he's been in therapy allegedly. because from how we see him react to conflicts within his relationship and the lack of flings in-between them, I for one am not convinced that he is [fixed].

tldr: they should've #letbuckfuck years ago and addressed his issue/traumas regarding sex gradually throughout the years. so if we do see him suddenly have casual sex in s9 with no hint of guilt or falling back onto his old coping mechanisms, I see that as poor writing because we never saw him heal for years.
