Crushing on Mulder since '98. Occasional writer of X-Files fan fiction. Cassiopeia12727 on AOE3 (Send me your requests!). INFJ-T. "You know I'm not gon' diss you on the internet
'Cause my mama taught me better than that"
Hi there! I'm Cassi. I've been a fan of TXF and Mulder since I watched Fight the Future in the theater in '98. I used to be very active in the TXF fandom on Twitter/X, but left not too long after Musk took over. I've mostly been reposting here on Tumblr but haven't been able to have any ongoing conversations with others. I'd like to get back into writing FF and would like to connect with more fans of the show, since it's been kind of lonely for me on here.
If you have a minute, give my stories a read and let me know if you'd like to chat or if you have any prompts that you'd like me to use for a fic.
given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that
Last song: Not a music gal. My last podcast was Two Hot Takes.
Fave colour: Red! Specifically a neutral-cool leaning darker red.
Watching: Hm. ...Hm. Nothing at the moment.
Reading: Many books still to finish, all at different places.
Last Google: Linda Berens Affiliative (I have a bone to pick with how she communicates her knowledge/expertise.)
Currently working on: Fail Better podcast notes. Then Fail Better premium transcripts in order to continue on the podcast notes. While finishing a transcript from an older DD interview. Then catching up on Gillian Anderson interviews. Then putting out interview quotes I still have clogging up drafts. Then logging old wayback machine interviews. Then catching up on hundreds of fics. Then making more fic lists. And redoing a Personality Typing post (for Gillian-- not satisfied still.) Then putting out more info on Mulder and Scully's Personality Typing posts. Then catching up on on the calendar, see if I missed someone's birthday. Then transcribing other interviews to log it for future concerns or interest.
And all of that will continue to be pushed back either because of new interviews or everyday concerns (or, gasp, hobbies.)
Last song: Lionel Ritchie - Se La (I was listening to an '80s station)
Fave colour: Blue, especially colors like royal blue. (I'm a Deep Winter and love dark and intense colors.)
Watching: I'm on season 5 of Stranger Things.
Reading: The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.
Last Google: My last DuckDuckGo search (F*** Google!) was for "cheesy" (I wanted to make sure I got the nuance of the word right).
Currently working on: Nothing really. My creativity has been at an all-time low. It's funny how that goes. Last time I was in a bad place, the fics just kept pouring out of me, which was a great distraction. Now, it seems like I can't really think about anything, except all the issues in my life.
Current wallpaper: A random white kitten (just so that my phone can't be confused with my husband's).
Good Will Hunting. Speed Racer. Empire of the Sun. Um... most Steven Spielberg tearjerkers.
Film you know every single word to?
I don't! Decent(ish) memory, terrible recall.
Favourite 2000s teen movie?
Napoleon Dynamite made an impact with my immediate family, so I have to go with that. Recently saw Freaky Friday, also fun.
Most embarrassing "guilty pleasure" film?
Something sweet, a little schmaltzy. Probably Random Harvest: first love, mature love, disguises/personas, happy ending.
Film that changed your life?
Books usually fill that role. But the four movies which rewired my psyche a little are The Little Mermaid, Good Will Hunting, Speed Racer, Empire of the Sun. (I've technically "aged out" of that demographic, but they still scratch an undeniable itch.)
Favourite movie snack?
Chocolate (gravitated to cookie dough a lot lately.) Wash it down with a plain seltzer and you're golden.
Your go-to movie quote?
Today: "You've kept me honest, made me a whole person."
The most overrated film ever?
I have... many, many, many choices. Movies/tv often frustrate because I rarely respect all the characters by the end.
Let's go with Twilight. ;D
Favourite director?
Hm. Steven Spielberg has an incredible track record. (Did I mention his tearjerkers?)
First movie you remember seeing in theaters?
Never been!
Horror, comedy, or romance?
Romance. Not romcom and not strictly romance, because I really, really cringe at most depictions of new, fuzzy love.
The ultimate "Top 10" favorite movies of all time?
Cheating a bit, but I'm going to not include The Little Mermaid, Speed Racer, Empire of the Sun, Random Harvest, or The TV Set.
Fight the Future (have to include it.)
Phantom Thread
The Secret World of Arrietty
Lord of the Rings (the OG trilogy)
Star Wars (the OG three... maybe the next three, too?)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
Most everything with Christian Bale in it (Empire of the Sun, The Prestige, Equilibrium, Nolan's first two Batman movies, American Psycho?, Ford v. Ferrari, etc. Except The Bride!... that was bad. Also haven't seen Pale Blue Eye? with Gillian Anderson in it.)
Most everything Steven Spielberg created (pre- the 4th Indiana Jones movie. Credit to him for knowing aliens were a mistake, though.)
Oh, brother. Um....
Does the Pride and Prejudice miniseries count?
I'll throw in While You Were Sleeping and Return to Me because I have fond memories of A. watching WYWS with my Mom and B. being encouraged to watch RtoM via txf fandom.
I can get close to tears, but I don't usually full-on cry when watching a movie. I don't rewatch a lot of movies, so if it has to be a movie that moved me every time I rewatched it, it would have to be Titanic (which I used to own on VHS, so plenty of rewatches).
Film you know every single word to?
None, but Fight the Future is the one I know a good amount of quotes from.
Favourite 2000s teen movie?
There aren't a lot of '00s teen movies that I've watched and that I think I'd still enjoy. Maybe The Princess Diaries. 🤷
Most embarrassing "guilty pleasure" film?
Does Blast From the Past count? I'm not embarrassed to like it, though.
Film that changed your life?
Fight the Future, because it made me a fan of TXF, which has lasted until today.
Favourite movie snack?
Sweet popcorn.
Your go-to movie quote?
"You're Tearing Me Apart, Lisa!"
The most overrated film ever?
Just one? I often don't get why certain movies are hyped. The Brutalist just didn't do it for me, but it's not the worst movie I've seen, just the most recent example that comes to mind.
Favourite director?
I have a few. If I'm going by my top movies, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Sofia Coppola, Darren Aronofsky, and David Fincher are up there.
First movie you remember seeing in theaters?
Free Willy.
Horror, comedy, or romance?
Horror all the way. There are a few comedy and romance movies that I like (especially ones from the '90s), but most of the ones I've watched just weren't to my liking.
The ultimate "Top 10" favorite movies of all time?
In no particular order (there are definitely more): Contact, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Interstellar, Sunshine, American Beauty, Fight the Future, Arrival, Booksmart.
In case you haven't heard, the Celiac Safety Act has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and Congresswoman Betty McCollum. The bill would classify gluten-containing grains (wheat, rye, barley, and their crossbred hybrids) as major food allergens, which would require clear labeling on all food products that contain them. This would make our lives much easier. No more contacting manufacturers about potentially hidden gluten!
If you'd like to support the bill, you can use the linked form to contact your members of Congress and ask them to back it. It's quick and easy (and secure, from what I can tell).
