the joy of working with middle school aged children is that, regardless of how long you've been doing it, they will always find novel ways to annoy and confuse you, which is okay because that's the natural state of the middle school aged child. anyway suffice it to say that for the past three weeks of school my 6th grade class has been greeting me at my door by lining up outside of it, playing the national anthem, and saluting me as i walk in.

A bit of bg info— I am an autistic/ADHD+chronically ill author and nerd with several special interests, one of them being health&wellness.

(Apologies if this comes on strong this is not meant to shame I am just passionate and loud)

YOU CANNOT TARGET SPECIFIC AREAS OF FAT. YOU GET RID OF FAT COLLECTIVELY. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS "how to target back fat" NONSENSE. If you wanna TONE the area, then absolutely do that! Focus on those muscle groups, but please don't believe everything fitfluencers say and do; research first, by looking at trusted primary sources and asking medical professionals you trust.

There is no easy way out: As a disabled, chronically ill girly, I've learned it takes effort and patience and oftentimes a LOT of external motivation from friends, family, and even prescription medications or well-researched supplements.

Even if something DOES work for one person, everything that works for them is not necessarily going to work for you, because every single body is unique and it takes years of getting to know yourself and doing research and working with medical professionals to figure out a good system.

But if you don't have the money or resources for good medical care, please don't trust random fitfluencers and buy products out of panic. Save that for necessities that will actually help and ask someone for assistance with your research <3 (Hell, even ask me. I live with a medical professional and a second chronically ill autistic person with a special interest in health + have a bajillion chronically ill friends. If I don't know something or can't find out, I'll let you know, so you know I'm not pulling crap out my ass.)

I have fallen prey to fads and trends out of desperation, but I love you and don't want you to learn the hard way!

Wanna know a fun fact?

When they were filming Lord of the Rings, they needed A LOT of extras to be able to ride horses into battle. They couldn’t find nearly enough men with horses/ riding skills, so they hired just like a crap ton of women who were expert riders, slapped some beards on ‘em, and called it good. The VAST majority of the riders in that film are horse girls. Horse girls win battles.
