IT'S THE WORLDS MOST MARVELOUS SUNDAY IT'S HER BIRTHDAY AND A SUNDAY? OOOOHHHH BABYY

Hamlet adaptation where Hamlet is a vlogger and all his soliloquies are breakdowns he uploads to YouTube
… I am unironically here for this
this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?
Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.
So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.
A post about this went round recently, and I’m delighted to announce she’s since come out as trans and goes by Jasmine 🏳️⚧️
Actor and Writer
There’s a whole series of the Hamlet videos on her YouTube, as well as a bunch of other films she’s made
Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.
post so nice had to reblog it twice and force it down everyone's throats
At minimum about 4.5 thousand people liked this without reblogging it.
We gotta fix that.

I think part of it is people REALLY don't want to accept that trans women face misogyny
they love to scrub the misogyny off of transmisogyny and try to say it's just transphobia
wonder how mask off some people would go if we were to occasionally mix in just calling it misogyny. because transmisogyny is a subset. of misogyny
failing to live up to a narrow standard of womanhood can straight up get us denied lifesaving healthcare and that's apparently just not misogyny...?
science: "yup this healthcare will dramatically reduce her chances of depression and suicide and there's a regret rate so low it's miraculous 👍"
the healthcare system: "ok but like does she really deserve it... she didn't smile for me..."
consider how thoroughly and constantly scrutinized and punished we are for perceived failures to live up to the narrow patriarchal standards of womanhood. men are not punished for failing to achieve womanhood. if they are punished for femininity, it's because they are failing to achieve manhood
trans women, on the other hand, are very frequently punished in a way where the pressure is toward performing the patriarchal idea of womanhood, not away from it
trans women are often criticized by saying that we stereotype womanhood, but we are coerced to perform the same patriarchal stereotypes as all women are
a woman in a dress is criticized for not looking good enough in it. her body is scrutinized, every detail judged against stereotypical, patriarchal ideals, any feature considered masculine ruthlessly stigmatized
a man in a dress is criticized for the dress itself, not his failure to wear it well. the dress is the failure, not his body
now pay attention to the way trans women are talked about
