well, yes indeed. both the writer and the director have shown themselves to be awfully incompetent for the role assigned and no matter how brilliant an actor tom is, he's still just an actor. he's playing loki like he's told to play him and only says what they tell him to say. obviously, he's not allowed to voice any negative thoughts about the series that he's supposed be promoting, and besides, even if his opinions of it are in fact one hundred percent positive, none of us have to agree. he's not god and he's not infallible and fortunately, some of us still have minds and opinions of our own.

He could manage to summon just about any meal, unless she would prefer he cook, we he had begun to learn to manage as well, since becoming a father. But he had a day free to be with his children, and even if it was only Hela for now, he would make the most of it.

Father's Day Starter for @chaotic-undying-loki

All holidays were exciting to children as young as Hela but few allowed her the opportunity to celebrate her family like Father's Day so of course, she wanted to do everything she could to make the day very, very special. Hushed conversations with her brothers ensured they would help and more with Freya got them what they needed to throw a little celebration of their own.

By the time Loki returned to them that evening, their plans had been carried out flawlessly. Decorations had been placed, a meal had been prepared, and all the children sat excitedly awaiting his return.

Odin had been piling on quite a few seemingly necessary and a few unnecessary lessons for Loki, as well as Thor. Yet Loki always found himself in other lessons, for some reason. He had to wonder, was it because Odin felt there was more for him, greater things for him to learn, or was it just another clear sign that he believed him and his brother in entirely different leagues.

The feasts had been had, to celebrate the fathers of the city after the usual, early and vibrant celebration put on by the people for the Allfather. Loki had busied himself, playing his part and doing his best to please the man that fathered him. Because despite the displeasure and feelings of disappointment and disconnect...he still loved Odin, dearly, and there were still remnant of appreciation and affection that made themselves known this day.

But the celebration was over, and Loki felt more useless than ever. He just wanted to return to his corner of the palace, his separate living quarters given to him since his endeavor in Jotunheim and what came of it.

And it would seem all his negative baggage focused in on his own father and the day that for a few centuries seemed to only be meant for him, he forgot just how the day applied to himself as well.

That is, until he entered the living area, to witness a table of food, walls and ceiling draped with decorations that seemed affectionately hand made, or chosen with his favorite colors in mind, and then the beaming faces of his children waiting for him.

He was speechless, and all he could do was grin, feeling all the negativity wash away, giving way to a proud warmth within his chest.

“My little dears... Just what have you all been up to?” he chuckled, feel a warmth in his eyes, unable to stop the proud grin upon his face as he looked over each face, spotting the proud and giddy beam that was the look on his precious daughters face. “And just who’s idea was this...?” he raised a brow at her, still smiling.

I have to admit, I definitely liked the second half of the episode more as the first half had quite a few moments where Loki felt a bit ooc/ over the top to me. But overall I don't mind them too much with the scenes we were given in the second half.

Hopefully the first half was just a "please the execs in the 'pilot' episode by repeating past formulas they favored" ooc thing, then do moreso what we want later once the heat's off. I can't really imagine literally-immediately-after-Avengers Loki being as loose and silly as he was. Maybe once he's happier though.

Loki said that to be a little shit, and cause some chaos, while having absolute (and apparently poorly placed) faith in Odin and his warriors and Thor to control this situation–to his knowledge this was just a damn prison break, he knew nothing else AT ALL. So he was bitter and wanted to cause chaos.

And what he said did not lead Kurse there. After he took that advice, the next Kurse scene had him in that shield room.

So fuck. That. This current canon is absolute bullshit.

actually, I think the biggest thing I disliked with this episode was Mobius saying all Loki was good for was bringing out the best in others. I know some people see that positively, but it leaves SUCH a bad taste in my mouth. His entire life he wanted to be seen for himself and then here comes along Mobius and he’s all “no, your life is literally pointless. you’re just a catalyst FOR OTHER PEOPLE” and welp, I’m crying again.

Not to mention the *entire* reason he tried to commit genocide was the fact he’d been taught from a very young age that Jotuns were evil monsters. And then found out he WAS one. That’s a recipe for one hell of a mind break right there. He’d get a Diminished Capacity or Temporary Insanity ruling *easily* on Earth for that. Because seriously.

Just imagine it. Number one, he’s a geek in the Land of Jocks. Or, to drag another fandom into things - that actually puts it better - he’s a Slytherin in a land of Gryffindors. Because not only does he like and excel at things few if any in Asgard see as having any worth (and mostly perceive as being shady as hell) - he gets sneered at and treated like shit for it. Which really isn’t going to help on the mental health front.

And now … now he’s left wondering what ELSE was a lie, if they lied to him about his own goddamned *species*. Were he and Thor the only ones that didn’t know, and THAT is why everyone treated him like shit? Does Frigga actually love him or is it an act? What the fuck is Thor going to do when he finds out? Especially considering Thor was JUST advocating for (and perpetuating, for the grievous sin of an *insult*) war and/or genocide of the Jotuns. And those are just the really obvious questions that jump to *my* mind that he’d be asking himself.

It also REALLY doesn’t help that Odin’s choice of words here is so … open to interpretation even to someone who *isn’t* suffering from the biggest damn shock of their life. Because that really does and can come off as ‘well, I *did* have a use for you, but you fucked that up, so now I have to figure out if there’s some other use for you or what’.

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again:

Odin condemns Jotuns to a slow genocide: Typical Fan response: “Well he had to do it.”

Thor attacks a realm there is a peace treaty with, starts a war, and wants to wipe out a race he’s wanted to kill since he was a child: Typical Fan response: “Okay that’s a bit extreme, but they are evil.”

Loki has a mental breakdown due to finding out he is a Jotun himself (yup, it’s canon), and having been taught to despise his race, also tries to wipe out the Jotuns in a seriously and severely deluded attempt to prevent a war: Typical Fan Response: “Oh he’s soo evil! Those poor Frost Giants! He tried to kill them!”

If any anti-ragnarok fan is venturing into watching LOKI can you, like, lemme know about what is horrible or okay about it? I'm fighting temptation to watch because I know it's stemming from TR LOKI and I've hated nearly everything in the trailers "you've stabbed people in the back fifteen times" so I'm reluctant to watch....but my mom wants to watch and I'm ITCHING to just see the character back, even if it might be an incorrect reflection of him.

All I've heard is from a Loki and Ragnarok fan that I actually admire, fan of that movie or not doesn't affect that, but he said that it was way too emotional for the first episode, makes Wandavision look like a picnic.

And given the laugh fest Ragnarok made every, I can't tell if that's good or bad.

Loki didn’t deserve to die like he did in Infinity War. What happened to him is not some, sick ‘divine retribution’ or just ‘punishment’ for betraying Thanos or ANYTHING for crimes in the past.

I’ve got it way back on my blog, but Zach Stentz, one of the screenwriters of Thor, left a comment on a blog post about Loki and basically said that all the subtext fans were picking up on was completely intentional and we are right on the money with our character analysis. The original writers created such a brilliant, multifaceted character, then MCU just trashed him. From Ragnarok on, he’s been in the hands of writers and directors who at best just don’t get his character, and at worst actively hate and resent him. That’s not us reading into things, that’s in their own words. As much as I despise the Russo bros and Markus and McFeely, it does give me some petty satisfaction that even after they killed Loki so he wouldn’t overshadow their precious Thanos and to shut Loki fans up, the whole year between IW and EG was taken up with people–not even Loki fans–speculating if Loki was really dead or not. 🖕

Loki Needs Its Own Version Of Endgame's Frigga Scene For His Redemption

Loki's mother could pave the way for redemption.

my reaction to this article was basically a combination of some side-eye and “yeah you know what Loki should get to hang out with his mom,” and then I got to this bit and burst out laughing, because

With this new Loki variant having not yet experienced many of the same things as the original Loki has, there does still exist within him a chance for redemption akin to the profound journey Thor went on in Avengers: Endgame. This is shown when Thor encounters his mother, Frigga, and her magical powers confirm that he is not the version of Thor that exists in her own timeline.
