Not the first time I'm trying homemade desserts from @simplyfluffy1 , but it's the first time i'm trying dessert treat box. Pretty sure any girl (or anyone) would be happy to get a delicious gift box. #sapotlokalsaturday This dessert treat box contains: Japanese Iced Cheese Vanilla Chiffon - Iced cheese? my first time hearing it! Think it's cause of the icing sugar topped on the creamy but light cheese❤️ gold leaf? Feelin glam. - Cake is cloud cotton, soft but it's not overpower by the generous amount of frothy cream cheese. -Cheese is not jelak, it adds texture that melts like cotton candy with the slightest pressure between your tongue and your palate. -Slight icing sugar on top adds a level to the velvety light cake.👍🏼 Butter Marbled Cake - Nicely marbled, best eaten at room temperature. if refrigerate, reheat to taste better. Not too buttery, so it's not too heavy on the palate. Choc Hazelnut Praline Choux - Satisfied filling of the Choux is 100% cornstarch free.👍🏼,Chocolate hazelnut cream is made of whipped cream, choc and hazelnut paste you could taste it's not the ordinary custard cream (mainly eggs, cornstarch and cream). Choc Almond Shortbread - It has that crisp, taste of rich dark chocolate pushes the decadence level of a normal shortbread up a notch. Having so few ingredients in a plain shortbread, you know that it means the quality of ingredients used are good to get the great taste. 👍🏼 Overall happy with the dessert choices, it's suitable to try a variety of desserts or as a pretty appealing food gift. My favourite is either the iced cheese chiffon cake (what a nice name) or the choc hazelnut choux. Priced at RM49/Box. Always ready to roll for a nice juicy burger. Really I’m a sucker for any sort of tender meat but this was just fabulous. I was kindly gifted this Pulled Angus Beef Brisket burger by @theburgerchef_my and it did not disappoint! Size of the burger is huge, as you can see I had hard time holding the whole burger with one hand. The beef slow cooked in BBQ sauce for 6-7 hours , full of flavour beautifully shredded, slathered generously on buttered brioche bun, topped with red cabbage slaw. Appetizing? you bet. Angus beef brisket is the winner here, cooked low and slow for the burst of luscious tasteful good meat. A little more acid to the slaw would’ve cut through the fat. Bun soaks up the beef juice gave so much more flavour to the already buttery bun, compared to Burgerlab (sorry not sorry) which is just.. dry buns IMO. Burger was nicely wrapped in foil , smart to ensure those buns are drenched deliciously in beef brisket juice. Overall this burger is juicy, savoury, sweet, saucy and messy, very filling giving the size of it. The sauce will get all over your hands, probably even your chin, your shirt. But this intense, perfectly balanced harmony of gorgeous mess is definitely worth the risk. Did you say it’s Sandwich? Isn’t it a Burger? Either way this is just too satisfying. Will I order again? #sapotlokal Cold silky puddings in this hot weather? yes please. ( we got no summer so, just hot weather.) These colorful silken puddings are from @sweetieslurp.kl made with fresh milk (yes! happy to know imma getting healthy lactose). As the name suggested, pudding texture is soft, smooth and velvety. Started off with taro pudding (purple), cause I have matching nail colors so 😌. Taste of taro : so satisfying . First taste be like, oh this is really silky just like how they marketed. It's like tofu dessert. Has milky taste, as you can see its more creamy mily than agar jelly texture, delectable👍🏼 Vanilla (White). it's sweeter than taro one, milk powder smell, Taste like sweet milk powder too ahh. I do enjoy the tofu creamy pudding texture. 👌🏼 Bubblegum (blue) - really taste like bubblegum! remember those RM 2.50-RM2.80 4 cubes of bubblegum you had when you're a kid? that's the taste. Chocolate - taste like hot chocolate drink! but in milky velvet pudding form! oh gosh who doesn't love hot chocolate 👍🏼 Mango - least favourite, it taste abit more artificial mango taste :( Maybe a few real mango chunks would make it better :( Overall pudding texture is amazing so smooth, we enjoyed taro, chocolate, vanilla, green tea the most, in the order ☺️ the small cups works as nice food gift to your love ones I’d say. Thank you @koffycat for sending “Ohayo Set” - Matcha Croissant & Iced Latte. Browsing the menu before delivery, I've add on order for Salted Egg Croissant and mini Earl Grey Croissants. Let's talk about croissants : These baddies are folded till an AMAZING 27 LAYERED croissant , NO JOKE, truly stellar. First thought, the most fragrant one came from Earl Grey Croissants, the smell of BUTTER, even when its not heated up. Earl grey game was strong, bite one and you'll taste the sharp distinctive earl grey sauce hidden in those flaky buttery croissants. Matcha Croissant and Salted Egg Croissant was HUGE, leaps to the next level when topped with the crumbs ( butter + Matcha powder / butter + salted egg powder), I really adore the crumbs, made the croissant super crunchy on outside, but yet buttery soft on inside. Sauces beautifully oozing out from the croissant like lava. Matcha sauce is more on the bittersweet side, you might be hesitant with the color, but trust me, no regrets. If you don't trust me, trust the flaky crunch croissant. Salted egg sauce is on the slight sweeter side, balanced nicely with the buttery croissant. I ended up wiping the plate clean with the flaky croissant and the crumbs 😙 Iced Latte - Perfect for our warm weather. If you're a coffee person, dive deeper knowing their coffee origins are from Brazil, India, Guatemala, is 100% arabica, roasted in Melbourne. Satisfied that it's not too sweet, tasting that coffee beans taste. Overall truly enjoyed these croissants, my favourite is Matcha Croissant, cloud-like puff pastry, buttery, flaky, with that bittersweet matcha goooozing out. Followed by Salted egg, then Earl Grey. I think I would put Earl Grey as 2nd favourite if there is butter + earl grey butter crumbs to top like the other 2. You definitely have to heat it up to best enjoy the flaky croissants with a crisp. Are baos the new trend nowadays? #throwback My first bao was from Da Bao, non halal essential😌 After trying that twice, decided to try halal baos from @thebaoguys With a full stomach we tried: Big Boy Meal (RM45.90/ USD 11.5) - includes 3 baos, add on fried oyster mushroom. Baos selected : Chuck Norris (Black bun)- fried chicken with yummy sauce. thought this'd be my favourite, but isn't. Tad bit dry even with sauce. If you have this one, you could probably skip the fried mushrooms sides, unless they have some sauce for the mushrooms then it wouldn't be so dry. Pho-king good- is fawking good. That tinge of sourness, vinegar marinated onion opens up our appetite nicely, along with the tender pulled beef. Kinda what we need very refreshing, 2nd favourite Beef Be With You - our favourite among these 3. we love us some fried baos that's outrageously good with the marinated beef slices. Crispy outer bao layer with flavourful beef center. Fried mushroom (add on)- I like that it's a delicate flavour low-carb (well, fried so carbs still 😂) option instead of the typical fries, since bao is already carb-enough. Really crispy, taste wise slight bland & dry, I was looking for the texture contrast. Crispy both inside and outside abit too salty. The juicy and tender natures on the inside was not retained. Could improve maybe with slight powder seasoning choices (original, sichuan pepper, 5 spices etc), or comes with sauce so it's not so dry. TBG chicken poppers (RM8.90) - nothing too memorable , by this time it’s really dry if you order fried chicken bao, fried oyster mushroom and fried chicken cubes(our mistake). Choose wisely. Overall the bao is not bad 3 baos would serve as a decent meal, 1 bao would be a snack. Will I visit again? Yes still need to try other baos. Also, would love to try oyster mushrooms again hope it's better than my first opinion. Any kaki onz? When I had a dream about eating some hazelnut chocolate dessert it’s time for choco #throwback First time meeting Jojo's gf (sorry Kelly😅)at 930 or 1030pm(?) here but i was idgaf mode got triggered by Jojo and isaac's words y'all I was really trying to change my overeating habit okay 🥸 Let's talk about desserts: Campfire Marsho - toasted marshmallow sinfully covers the brownie , enjoyed that gooey pull. Warm sweetness overload dessert. Crackers don't taste so good - I didn't like the type of cracker selected, dry not buttery. Waffle stick - waffle base pretty good crunchy, milky and light. Complimented obscenely but tastefully with the chocolate coat. Take the picture at a wrong angle and you got yourself that waffle covered and drizzled in chocolate 🍫 🙃 Overall, it lives up to the expectations. When you have a cafe of just selling chocolate, it got to be good. Price is on the higher range but you got rental and employees to pay so. Aside from custom chocolate coated strawberries that @dreamybites.mys does, they also have these cute cups of dessert that I tried. I thought it was Fruit/Oreo - Yoghurt- biscuitcrumb base? Then it was Fruit/Oreo - Cream 😍 - crumb base! Much happier with the cream choice Fruit tops: Mango cubes, and strawberrie slices are both complimented nicely with cream and crumbbase. The cream was not too sweet, the sweetness comes from the fruit and the crumbbase. Cream just added a lovely creamy texture to the dessert. As you can see I also added some blueberries to the strawberries one to make the taste even more satisfying. The Oreo one is a little different, oreo-cream-oreo, double oreo crumbs wham. This is just oreo and cream, suitable if you/the person you wanna gift this is into oreo. Overall I'd say these are nice little dessert cups that can be enjoy conveniently, and yet it's somewhat healthy (if you get the fruit one) cause you get the fruit dose and also satisfies your sweet tooth with the base. Again, with the packaging it's always a nice little gift 😌just like the strawberries. Pretty bite-size dessert anyone? Trying to fit the number of pics I took into one post for these beautiful desserts be a tough one haha, i'll split into two. These love desserts couldn't arrive at a better timing to brighten up my mood when you had work stress and that jab coming up last week. Who doesn't love receiving their food in a lovely box? Beautiful and impressive looking fancy dessert. @dreamybites.mys does custom strawberries presentation, I just let her surprise me on whatever chocolate design that fits and you couldn't imagine how happy I was when I receive these pretty little 🍓. Look at the beautiful vibrant colour 🍓🍓, happy that it's fresh and succulently sweet! Worse thing you can have is a sour bad strawberry. Totally satisfied my sugar relapse from my recent healthy lifestyle attempt. #throwbacktuesday It’s called @mingkeeporridge but the wanton mee here is really good 😂 Quite a crowd on lunch time, but service is good even when it’s busy. This is one place I’m want to go back really for comfort food or wanted to tapao during MCO. All the roast meat here is really good, pictured first roast duck wanton mee (egg noodles). I love that the noodles so thin, springy, chewy texture. Might be abit salty with the amount of sauce in the bowl.👍🏼 Spicy duck shredded egg noodles (麻辣GUILTY PLEASURE) uses the same noodles soaks up the spicy oily soup. I like oily food or soup 🥺especial chilli oil. A lot of pork lard, balanced with some sour cabbage. Shredded duck meat compliments this soup dish so well. 👍🏼 Porridge is smooth. 😂 I’m a noodles person so hands down thin oily springy eggy noodles better 😂 Overall extremely good comfort Chinese food. I’m looking forward to return to try the roasted pork and other noodle choices ! Kodawari onsen eggs, homemade dashi sauce and spring onions made such a good combo. This combo is recommended cold, and best enjoyed by itself , which I find it odd at first, but once I tried I changed my mind 🤩here’s why: Seemingly simple, but cooking eggs is actually a skill to master. These quintessential onsen eggs was so satisfying got a perfect yolk every time I cracked the eggs somehow 😁 colour of the yolk proves it’s good stuff, as your egg is soft cooked it’s always important ensuring good quality eggs - more described in photo 4. Homemade secret recipe Dashi stock was.. wait for it, mind blowing🤯. Definitely ignited umami taste and made the onsen egg extremely tasty. The highlight. It does lives up to its warning of umami sensation. Shoots up the onsen egg's tastiness level to 🤯🤩level. Looking forward for sake dashi version if there is *hint hint* Spring onions/chives gives the dish the required sense of crunch. Adding these distinctive little greens would change the flavours of your dish, also presentation hella prettier!Depends on your preference, with/ without both works. Overall super healthy, super halal, super flavourful meatless choice. 😌Getting your protein and health in check. The following contains 6 persons’ almost unanimous opinion. We tried: Pain de campagne slices with kombu butter (RM8/ USD2) , pain de campagne slices with mentaiko butter (RM8 / USD2) - ‘french sourdough’ with Japanese inspired butter ( kombu- kelp/ mentaiko-pollock roe) These two are supposed to bring great flavours to the butter. However we don’t feel the flavours are strong enough to taste. Definitely we were expecting a lot more umami taste. For the bread, unfortunately we aren’t a fan either, bread too hard 😅 definitely not enough butter for the amount of bread given 🥺couldn’t finish the bread ended up abit too dry. Death by chocolate (RM 16/ USD 4) - this is probably our favourite. The chocolate is so rich and the cake texture is moist. It’s not too sweet fairly satisfied with this fudgy chocolate cake 🍰👍🏼 Big breakfast (RM24/USD6)- not bad, but nothing too memorable except the mushrooms pretty good. It’s your cafe big breakfast style. Kaya croissant - Pretty good, kaya is not too sweet and pastry is flaky fragrant flavourful. Our second favourite. Was a week after Raya when I tried these kuehs. Fam got these from @kuehdayang and its pretty good. I'm no good (basically my kueh/kuih knowledge sucks) at the names of the local delicacies so let me just put it from left to right 🤭. left 1 - believe this is gula melaka (brown sugar kinda thing) with coconut shreds on top. Soft, fam said its good👌🏼. I dont usually have this so I can't appreciate the taste. left 2 - pandan on top, pulut at the bottom. This is really good my favourite. The pandan is so soft fragrantly rich with coconut milk. In room temperature the pandan layer is almost at melty level if you leave it out too long. Pulut (glutinious rice) is also soft and chewy. 👍🏼 Middle - mini cucur kinda thing. This has some beef I THINK. Mae's vegetarian game failed .very small good pleasure bites. Soft texture. right 1- pink layered kueh. taste like your above average 9 layer kueh, not bad. 👌🏼 right 2- second favourite. I enjoyed the pandan santan choices so much cause its so soft with the slight saltiness from coconut milk and the not overly sweet pandan layer. Overall we enjoyed these local delicacies .
