I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.

I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.

Like I think that's the difference for me: If you felt the content was truly disturbing and indicative of an actual risk of harm, you would not be posting it! You would not be posting the entire thing and going "Oh my god LOOK everybody, LOOK at this!! Look at this DISGUSTING THING" like no dude if you were sincere about thinking that was comparable to cp you would not be posting it at all, you wouldn't have dared download it, and you certainly wouldn't be like "SOMEONE needs to do something" like you know very well there are many someones who could help and who wouldn't because they'd be like "Okay so he used... Sora to make the Chipettes watch Obsession with him?" Like what's with this game I feel like lolcowing used to be more honest about making fun of embarrassing people

Guys the point of this is not "It's okay to make fun of this guy as long as you're honest about it" the point is it's absurdly hypocritical to pretend to have the moral high ground and also just straight up a lie to say you're doing this to protect kids. This is not pro-making fun of this guy in the Correct Way. This is anti-directing your entire audience to supposedly investigate the imagined sex crimes of some guy with under 20 followers on Instagram because you can't admit to yourself you enjoy having a platform built around bullying weird people
