Just saw another baby announcement and I feel like Iâve been really good at regulating my emotions but this one just put me over the edge. It feels like literally everyone is getting the one thing I want. Iâve been able to allow myself to feel sad for me while feeling happy for others, but today it is really hard to separate the sadness out. So im just going to say it. Iâm envious and Iâm mad that other people are able to experience that joy and achieve the thing Iâve been waiting for.
Shortly after I posted this, my husband came home from my sisterâs house because he was helping my brother in law with something. He said âI saw Nicoleâs sonogram pictures on the fridge and I said âaw, is that my little niece or nephew?ââ And it gutted me. He couldnât have known I was already having a rough day, but I wish he wouldâve thought for a moment before telling me that.

Weddings are weird. You meet weird new people there.

Dean's attending Sam's wedding. Marrying his college sweetheart Jessica.
Sam and Dean didn't have much in terms of blood relatives, and the family they did have were a handful of folks who took in the two scrappy Winchesters after John passed
So it comes as a massive surprise to Dean to find out Jessica's entire extended family is attending. All the way to her fifth cousins twice removed and so on. All of them are all too eager to welcome (indoctrinate) more people to the family
So while Sam is basically swept away to talk to a great great grandma during the wedding rehearsal, Dean is left to fend for himself
Where he meets Castiel, a man he assumes to be one of Jessica's distance cousins. The man is blunt, stoic, and hilarious once you realize he's actually joking and fucking with you. And boy was he easy on the eyes too. The perfect person to spend this weekend with
He's Dean's saving grace and all this and honestly? Dean finds himself seeking the man out more and more as the week end goes on
It's only during the actual reception itself that Dean has the crushing realization

where did all you western anti-work âsocialistsâ come from anyway. you want the âto each according to their needâ and forgot the âfrom each according to their abilityâ. âI do not dream of labourâ ok, but you do dream of living well. so what you really want is someone else to labour for you, which makes you indistinguishable from any bourgeois capitalist you claim to despise. the consumerist-oriented âfully automated luxury space communismâ bullshit has truly rotted peopleâs brains. you want all the trappings of excess but you want the brunt of creation of that excess to be on someone else. well congratulations, you already live in an imperialist society. you have that. someone else is already harvesting your vegetables, sewing your clothes, mining the cobalt for your electronics. all you want is more, easier access to those things.
I get it on some level, especially as someone who has worked alienating, minimum wage jobs in which I have absolutely no stake other than the necessity of getting money to pay rent. but itâs not the work. itâs the capitalism. I do not dream of labouring to the benefit of a boss who steals my own time from me, or to pay for the militarism of my government, or even to contribute to a hypothetical pension for a hypothetical retirement. but I do dream, intensely, of labour: labour that wonât kill me, and contributes meaningfully to a society I am proud of; a society not driven by profit for a few, that exists to meet the needs of everyone around me. we do not live in that society. but if we want to make it, labour will exist, and not just menial physical labour but an extraordinary amount of mental and social labour, almost none of which will ever be replaced by automation, and that is not a bad thing.

Attached is a screenshot of a Facebook post by Mohawk Joey dated September 29, 2021. The Facebook post says,
âSo I decided to do a blind study because I keep hearing about all of these jobs available out there, and how nobody wants to work, and everybodyâs hiring, and they canât find help. Tomorrow will be the final day of my 30-day experiment. Iâve applied to two jobs each day since September 1st for the sake of this experiment. I chose the jobs I applied for by finding Facebook posts in out local For Myers/Lee County groups where employers were talking about how hard it was to find help. I specifically sought out employers who blamed unemployment benefits for them not having employees.
I have received 16 responses by email, spoken on the phone with four out of those 16 people. And had one interview. I will be organizing all of this data into a fun chart. The most hilarious think is the one job interview I have done so far was offering minimum wage for pay which is around 860 and when I said thatâs weird because youâre advertisement says that youâre starting pay is $10 an hour, they said itâll be 10 when the minimum wage goes up later this month, youâll start at $8.65. When I asked what the average hours were, they said about 20.... I was like, thatâs weird because your advertisement states full-time... they said you can move up to full-time after 6 months based on your performance. Are these places hiring? Thatâs what their internet ad said. Are they desperate for HELP? Yes, according to their loud lamentations on Facebook, but so far 1 interview (where the advertised hours and pay were misrepresented_ after 58 applications says yâall arenât desperate for workers, you just miss your slaves....
Edit: This data is not representative of the entire job market. I targeted a particular group of people who are very loud about a particular subject in a particular area. My opinion is that this is a familiar story to many. Just shining lights under the bridges is all đâ
