my futile wish is for people to understand that "sex scenes in movies/TV don't have to serve the plot and can genuinely just be for pleasure" and "sex-repulsed people are allowed to complain about how rare it is for media made for adults like them to be something they can enjoy completely" are both true statements. unfortunately society hates both sex and people who don't like sex, so everyone gets far too defensive about any sex or lack thereof in fiction to actually have this conversation

There's a disconnect happening here because the primary function of social media for most casual users is to form a circle of friends around the usual things that friendships are built on: shared interests and lifestyles and ideas of what is important and what is unacceptable. When people are mainly doing leftism on social media, this encourages thinking of leftism as centered around establishing high-minded social clubs.
For anyone who still isn't getting it from someone who helps people IRL: There's a difference between whom you're helping to feed at the mealshare and whom you're choosing to hang out with for fun after the mealshare. You don't have to invite a hungry person with opinions you don't like to play board games with you, but you do have to help keep them from starving if you're serious about leftist organizing.

Fandom hates on her for her parents' actions towards Buck even though her parents' actions affected her too. They blame her for "abandoning" Buck because her abusive husband isolated her. More recently some fans have hated on her and called her homophobic or "pregnancy brained" for not telling Buck to call Tommy even though she never said anything bad about the relationship.
Maddie suffered through a horrible domestic abuse situation after growing up in an utterly crazy family situation. Nonetheless she still wants to help others. Also she is a 911 dispatcher who told a caller to kill themselves one time which is just really really funny you have to admit.
people said she was ‘acting dumb because she’s pregnant’ because she told her brother he shouldn't get back with his ex. was called a bad sister because she didn’t speak to her brother for a few years (because of her abusive husband) and because she asked her brother to have dinner with their parents who he has a bad relationship with

Rose Quartz / Pink Diamond:
For quite a while she was seen as perfect bean. When the big reveal happen then she wast just seen as evil dictator abuser who lied to everyone. Also was seen very weirdly in very extreme ways as a body positivity icon.
She was an amazingly complex character who lived a very difficult life but the fandom couldn't handle such a gray character. I love her and thinks she deserve the recognition of being one the best written characters by Rebecca Sugar instead of cringe.
Oh wah wah she used to be an evil dictator who colonised other planets and on an interpersonal level treated almost everyone in her life badly. sorry you can't stand to see a girlboss winning.
For a character who's already dead at the start of the show and who we only ever see through flashbacks, Rose manages to be one of the most fascinating, dynamic, and complex characters in the whole show. It's so interesting getting to dig into her worldview and how her backstory impacted her, and her early appearances are made even more fascinating on rewatch, when they're recontextualised by the twist of her actually being Pink Diamond. Which, by the way, I do think is one of the all time great TV twists - the kind of perfect twist that catches you completely off guard in the moment but in hindsight you realise was obvious all along
