i will never see sea waves painted as masterfully and with as much love as Ivan Aivazovsky. the sunlight is almost frozen among the waves, as if it is an inherent part of the sea. It highlights the other cold tones besides the endless blue. The depth is also an innate trait of the sea, and so the background is almost entirely dedicated to darker, but no less electric blues. It's waiting, with grave patience, for its time in the spotlight: to blow kisses to the sun. The entire painting is immoving, not nearly as dynamic as say- watercolor waves, but it is buzzing with anticipation, like it has frozen upon being observed.
