most big herbivores are, frankly. if you have a pretty steady supply of food and don’t have to worry about missing a hunt and starving to death, you can afford to throw your weight around more and generally be more aggressive!

that’s why the most dangerous big animals in the world are almost all herbivores.

New Zealand has now completely eradicated COVID-19 - no active cases and no new infections. (They’re not alone - Iceland did it too.) They are safe and back to normal life. No more lock downs. No more social distancing. Stores, restaurants, public transportation - all fully reopened. Weddings, graduations, and birthday parties are once again being celebrated. Their leaders are now shifting their focus to economic recovery. And they achieved it with just 1,504 cases and 22 deaths reported nationally.

Many have applauded the announcement, including Helen Clarke, a former prime minister of New Zealand, who posted on Twitter: “Clear leadership & an engaged public have produced this result.“

New Zealand had 0.45 deaths per 100,000 people, and a 1.5% fatality among COVID-19 cases. By contrast, the US has had 35.05 deaths per 100,000 people and a 5.6% fatality among cases. [source] And that’s just so far (6/13/20) - it will get worse, with the pandemic still raging and infections still spiking.

I have seen too many people resigned to this dismal response as unquestionable fact, saying things like ‘there’s nothing to be done’ or ‘we just have to tough it out’ or ‘America’s had the best pandemic response in the world’. One person asked me, ‘they’re doing everything they can, what more do you want?‘ This. This is what I want. Competent leadership that makes fact-based decisions and values expertise. Strong leadership that values human life over money. Decisive leadership that acts to mitigate a crisis, not inflame it.

Just updating the world that I’ve tried every self help tactic to be more productive and feel better, and the only one that robustly works is operating on spite. So go work on that project/assignment you’ve been procrastinating on, just so that the person who you hate the most doesn’t end up getting acclaim for it.

I recently bought a summer dress online that I’ve been tracking down for the lowest prices for the last few months. In August, the dress costed $64. Last week, I got it for $6 on summer inventory clearance sales.

To the company/brand: if you can afford to sell your $64 dresses for $6 without going bankrupt, JUST because the weather changed, then clearly your dress wasn’t worth $64 in the first place. You are a fraud and overcharge gullible customers for your ‘brand’ name.

To other consumers: That dress isn’t worth $64. Even if it was made with utmost care and quality materials, it wouldn’t be worth $64. Its worth is $6, but the price for having a re cognizable name printed on it is $58. So be wary when boujee people try to tell you they only buy branded clothes because of the quality - like nah you ain’t buying for quality you buyin’ cuz you be wantin to flaunt that label.

Man I cannot stress this enough. The “this is how I am, take it or leave it” attitude is an act of immaturity. We all have toxic traits that we need to work on and as an adult it’s our responsibility to recognize the damage that they can do to the ones we love. We all need to put in more effort in becoming better individuals.
