I could see the men wouldn’t change their minds. Their belief in superiority of their own ways was deeply ingrained in them. The Forest of Enchantment by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is a tale of feminism, hardship and every that has been wrong in the Indian society has portrayed since the dawn of the time. The Forest of Enchantment has been making the buzz for quite a while. As, I have always been fascinated with mythology, I was really looking forward to read it. I loved the retelling of Ramayana through viewpoint of Sita and how throughout the novel, we see her evolve. One thing that I felt after completing the book was the pain of Sita. Until the middle of the book, I felt that she often made decision with emotions, the decisions which were often foolhardy but more I found myself closer to the end, I felt that she did not deserve the heartbreak and pain that she was put through. She loved Ram and, he rather than hugging her chose to question her character. When every person knew she was pure, who was RAM to question her purity. All changes do not require revolutions. Some just require a little change in way of thinking and a bit more humanity. . . . There are a very few books that make you want to pick them and read once again. Small Great Things is one of them. Written by Jodi Picoult @jodipicoult the novel features Ruth, an African American nurse who is harrowed by an White Supremacist couple who lost their baby and believe it is her fault. The things that they make Ruth go through, I believe is the thing that actually happens but is widely ignored. One issue that this novel brought in focus for me is the presence of racism. We majorly classify people in two parts... Racist and non racist. However, just because you believe you are not racist does not mean that you are not over compensating for it. Many a times, to make the person and our conscious less guilty, we end up doing something even worse. To prove that we are not racist, we end up giving a bit extra to the colored folks cuz it is widely believe that they are poor and down trodden. 🤷🏻♀️ Equality is important and so is knowing that all the culture stereotypes are more or less exaggerated. It is not only the "white" who are racists. My introduction to Hercule Poirot happened not through these amazing books but through a TV series. I was utterly mesmerized by him and the way he solved each and every mystery. I haven't read any of Miss Marple's stories... maybe once I am done with Poirot, I might start them. 🤷 Last night, I finished Murder of Roger Ackroyd. 😮 There is no way, I would have been able to guess the murderer. If you haven't read this one, make sure you definitely do! . . . . I hate the books with movie tie in covers; which is the only reason why I splurged money on this limited edition facsimile collection of Agatha Christie's novels by @harpercollinsin . Falling, Jane Green @janegreenauthor While Falling is usually categorized as a chick lit novel, it was a book that kept me up after my usual bed time. A beautiful book about love, it definitely have me a Nicholas Sparks feel. We all want to fall in love and find the one that is rightfully ours but why is that so many of us failure in our relationships. Why do we focus on what others think even when we are too happy and only regret the decisions when we lose them? Falling is a typical tale of love found, kept and lost. Pick it up and read. It would make you laugh, blush, smile and cry. --------------------------Spoilers---------------------------- I loved Emma from the beginning. From her ex banker vibes to the way she stood for herself and Dominic in front of her mother was empowering. Her fight with her mother, the verbal and non verbal cues were extremely well written and just like they happen in real life. Dominic and Jesse are amazing. ♥️♥️ Why is the name of God did Dominic had to die? I wish for one romance book where the family actually lives happily ever after. He died without saying good bye to his son and the love of her life. 😭😭😭 This made me cry and get angry. 🥺🥺🥺 But Emma gets Jesse.. so that's a relief. I wish I could know more about Gina and why she is such a bitch. We all have relationships in all life which often come to their expiry dates sooner or later. It becomes necessary to let go of them when it's time. This year, I too quit several habits and most importantly relationships and I am glad that I did. Many think that it is important to cultivate more friends in your life just to create a safety net. A simple situation of getting the man out of her home takes turn for worst, when the Misato hits his head with a copper vase and the Yasuko has to kill him with an electric cord before he kills Misato. The book could have been a typical crime drama but the excitement come from the fact that as a reader, we know the murderers, the victim and everything in between while the detectives do not. If anyone as has seen Drishyam (Indian movie), they would have understood how amazing it is to see the characters finding out facts or getting surprised while as a reader you know what is going to happen.
