You know, I really hate jokes about "how fast Demi Lovato dropped they/them pronouns" because like. A) they didn't. Demi has they/she listed on her social media pages. They still use they/them, and B) the reason they added she/her back and the reason you think Demi "dropped they/them" is because people are transphobic and exorsexist and never used their pronouns in the first place! It's literally because people were exorsexist to them.
Do employers know that employees are actually reusable if you let them rest? Like if you don't use them up completely all at once, and give them time to rest and recover before the next work day, they just kinda grow back? That's how they used to do it back in the day, you could hire five people to do five people's workload, and then keep the same five people for 40 years without issue, instead of having 2-3 people doing five people's work and have to constantly keep looking for replacements since you keep running them to the ground, completely using up like 10-20 employees per year.
We still have access to all the same technology and materials that they were using back in the day. Literally nothing requires us to operate the way things work now.

I was unironically telling one of my best friends a week or so ago that more people need to like the idea of being hippie instead of mislabeling themselves as punk. Radical kindness is a hippie thing, not a punk one! Plus, if the hope is to be subversive and push against conservatism, as someone else said, your average conservative will be probably more offended by a hippie than a punk
That last point is an interesting one to bring up, because thereâs been a wave of conservatives trying to reclaim punk for themselves, and a lot of people online have mocked this development as a paradox because âitâs impossible to be conservative and punkâ but the problem is⊠punk is specifically an anti-establishment movement. Bigots usually (if not always) view themselves as the victims of targeted attacks on their freedom of speech or their right to live comfortably, which can easily breed anti-establishment sentiments, hence why Nazi punks have existed since the beginning of the punk movement itself. You donât know which establishment a punk is against, and it might not be the same one as yours.
Hippies, on the other hand, are everything that conservatives hate. A movement that was built on body autonomy, sexual freedom, anti-war and total liberation is exactly what conservatives are shitting their pants over. Punks are easier for conservatives to hijack and claim, but a conservative wouldnât touch a hippie with a barge pole.
This isnât to undermine the punk movement as a whole, I just think itâs important for people to take off their rose-coloured glasses when it comes to a single music subculture and not treat it like the be all and end all of political activism, especially when it can lead to unknowingly sharing spaces with extremely dangerous bigots.

Like, I very much appreciate people trying to be mindful of their consumption and trying to be sustainable. But I need y'all to understand that it literally does not matter. The top 10% are doing more damage than all of us together could ever prevent.

Since I made this post, dozens and dozens of people have left tags telling me that it was the first thing today that made them want to continue living, that it was the first thing that made them consider that they might be okay years in the future, that they might grow old, that it was the first and only post of its kind they'd ever seenâthe first post that boldly predicts a future where we make it.
And many other people have been just spitting, foaming at the mouth fucking FURIOUS. How dare I have the audacity to imagine a future where things get better?
Don't I know how BAD things are? Am I not aware of the TERROR and DEVASTATION of climate change and fascism and biodiversity loss? How dare someone be so bold, so callous, as to imagine something other than misery and suicide. How dare someone suggest it will get better. How dare a person propose that there is a future where we will be okay, in the face of so much terror. Hasn't she seen the abyss opening its jaws before us?

do you know what all of that has in common? they had hope that things would get better and they made that change. they looked at the world in its cruel ways and fought back.
so now, there are kids and teenagers and young adults and new adults who dream of a world so beautiful and the only amazon their grandchildren know is the rainforest
and it is in everything we do that we find this hope. wishing on dandelions, counting the stars, making our own clothes out of crochet or knit or sewing it, watching the sunset, going to the farmerâs market, feeding the birds, planting seeds.

Having ADHD is so fun because sometimes youre looking for something that you use regularly and definitely put away in a smart and reasonable place and you have absolutely 0 hope of remembering where and finding it. And then other times ur like "hmm I need a some kind of small pointed object. I feel like i remember seeing a paperclip under the left couch cushion a month ago, i wonder if its still there" and it is
"wait but if u saw the paperclip why would u just leave it there?" its the adhd. Also if i had put it away then i wouldnt have been able to find it a month later when i needed it. So. Checkmate neurotypicals.
Problem is when the ADHD catalogue is out of date, when you go to check under the couch cushion for that paperclip and it ISNT there, sometimes your brain will just give you a montage of false memories of everywhere you've ever seen a paper clip, like this

one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.

You can see your productivity.
Chores are the opposite. Yes, your kitchen is clean now. But you'll cook again that evening or the next day and you'll have to start over. Yes, you vacuumed. But two days later it's dusty again. Laundry done, until next week.
Chores never end.
But arts and crafts, nobody can undo the thing you made. You can hold it up and say "look. I made this. I did the productivity today" and nothing quite beats that serotonin rush.
My ability to do chores improved immensely when I stopped thinking of them as things that can be finished and started thinking of them as cycles. Itâs no longer âwhat do I need to do to get the kitchen clean?â but âwhere am I in the kitchen cycle?â eg dishes go from the cupboard to the table tto the dishwasher and back to the cupboard. If your goal is to finish, youâll always be in a state of failure. If your goal is to keep momentum going, every little step is a success. That being said, thereâs nothing more satisfying than finishing a pair of knit mittens.
This... might really help me. I'm going to try out this mindset and see how it goes.
