Above is the “Know Anon” code that allows you to expose any hateful anons you wish at your own whim. If you know anyone who’s struggling with anonymous hate, reblog this for them.

How to install

Simply copy the above code and paste it right after the <head> portion of the HTML coding on your blog. This is with the jQuery script included, so everything should be covered. Once you’ve done this, update and save, then exit your customize page.

Re-enter your customize page, and under “appearance” should be a button called “Enable Know Anon”, which may be on or off automatically, depending. Flip the switch to enable or disable it, then save.

How to use

When you get anonymous hate or anon messages you find offensive, simply exit your Inbox, enter your Customize page, flip the switch to “on”, then save and exist. Re-enter your inbox, and any and all anonymous messages will be exposed with a URL, if they have one. Note that this includes everything, not just the hate. Another thing to note is that, once you expose anons in the inbox, you can’t un-expose them. Flipping the switch back to “off” does nothing.

Answer a message people thought was on anon, and gee, they’ll get a nasty little surprise, hmm? It’s better than a fake anonymous button because while you still can’t control who it exposes, you can control when to do so.

Remember though, that this isn’t the only way to stop anonymous hate. As always, there’s simply the “turn anonymous asks off” button. And thanks to the update from a few months ago, anons CAN be blocked.

That little hand right there? That’s the ignore button. It’s present on all asks sent, whether anon or otherwise. When you block an anon, you have the option to report them for spam or harassment, and it will permanently block them. It also blocks the IP address and computer, so that person can’t take advantage of extra accounts to continue sending you hate. It effectively wipes that person right out of your Tumblr life. They cannot contact your blog again, ever.

This is definitely one of the must-reads for any intersectional feminist. A bit dated at this point, but still important, it takes a look at the very issues of exclusion that have hindered the feminist movement since abolition days.

2. Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg

Honestly, this will just be one of the best books you’ll ever read. It’s not only an important queer, feminist book, it’s also just a beautifully told story of struggle and love.

3. Woman, Native, Other by Trinh T. Minh-ha

Minh-ha delivers a full-frontal attack against the notion of erasure as a means of unified feminism. She argues for a feminism that fights against oppression of all kinds, because women all over the world face oppression at the hands of different forces and factors. And she attacks everything that “others” everything non-white or non-Western. It’s bold and awesome and a classic of postcolonial feminist theory.

4. Assata by Assata Shakur

Assata is part memoir of the radical awakening of a young black woman in the ‘60s and ‘70s, part personal testimony of a broken, racist justice system. In all its parts it’s a lyrical, addictive read that immerses you in one of the most important eras in the Black liberation struggle. By the end you’ll be outraged, angry, and itching for revolution.

5. Random Family by Adrian LeBlanc

Adrian LeBlanc took a lot of care with this book. Working over 10 years and forming close relationships with the families she writes about, LeBlanc offers up an intimate portrait of the lives of two women in a social class that often goes overlooked or misrepresented in popular U.S. culture and scholarly study. It’s importance is in the deeply personal rather treatment, rather than the almost zoological portrayals that often befall lower economic classes.

6. Sex Workers Unite! A History of the Movement from Stonewall to Slutwalk by Melinda Chateauvert

Sex workers are often cast as unwilling victims. Melinda Chateauvert challenges this portrayal by showing that many sex workers are in fact empowered, legitimate workers and have been powerful agents of social change throughout history. This book will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about sex work.

7. The Sacred Hoop: Recovering the Feminine in American Indian Traditions by Paula Gunn Allen

An oldie but a goodie, The Sacred Hoop is a corrective on the crucial role of indigenous women in history and tribal tradition. It’s not a perfect book, but it’s an important one that asserts the presence of Native American women.

8. This Bridge Called My Back by Cherríe Moraga and Gloria Anzaldúa

This anthology is incredible! It’s got essays, interviews, poetry, and even visual art from women of so many different backgrounds. It’s kind of what intersectional feminism should look like in book form. Or, at least, darn close to it.

9. Women and Gender in Islam by Leila Ahmed

Need to check your assumptions about Islam and the treatment of women in the Middle East? Leila Ahmed’s book is an invitation to do just that. So many stereotypes and assumptions about Muslim women and their treatment under Islam abound, but one can hardly make snap judgements about Islam any more than you can about any other religion. Ahmed dives into the text itself and the history of the Western gaze that has led to misunderstanding about Islam and gender.

10. Gender Trouble by Judith Butler

With Gender Trouble, Judith Butler went straight for bold by questioning the very notion of gender as a part of feminism. If you took a Gender Studies course in college, it was probably on the syllabus. But it’s always worth another look, considering the book was originally written in the ‘90s, when Butler’s straight talk about the complexity of gender and sexuality was pretty ground-breaking. Since then, Butler’s reconsidered some of her ideas in newer books that are also worth picking up.

11. Brick Lane by Monica Ali

Not every book you read has to be a heavy non-fiction read. Actually getting a little fiction into your intersectional diet is a healthy way to dig into perspectives outside of your own on a more personal level. Brick Lane is a look at a young Bangladeshi woman coming of age in the middle of an arranged marriage and thrust into a new culture miles away from home. Whatever perspectives you’re looking to explore, there are so many stories out there that want to be read!

12. On Intersectionality by Kimberlé Crenshaw

Since an intersectional feminist’s work is never done, naturally, you can look forward to a new book on intersectionality straight from the woman herself. Kimberlé Crenshaw’s latest comes out in October this year.

PSA: Donald Trump’s Younger Children and Grandchildren

Leave. Them. Alone.

Tiffany. Barron. Arabella. Theodore. Joseph. Chloe. Kai. Donald III. Spencer. Tristan.

They did not ask to be born to the family they have. The have no control over what their father/grandfather says and does. They did not ask him to run for President.

However, they are all tasked with the enormous burden of being the immediate family of Donald Trump, which is not going to be easy.

For 8 years, we stood back and let Malia and Sasha Obama grow up in peace. While there were some mishaps with members of the press and photos leaking from so called “friends”, they had a pretty quiet childhood outside of the public eye just like President and First Lady Michelle Obama wished.

I know Donald Trump is a terrible person, and we aren’t too fond of Melania, but I’m asking all of you to be the bigger person and leave the children out of the issues we have Trump. Let them have a normal childhood.

That means:

~ Don’t threaten them (which is a federal crime anyway). ~ Don’t make fun of their looks. ~ If you see them in public, ignore them and go about your day. ~ Don’t retweet crude comments ~ Don’t tweet Tiffany (the only one of the younger family members on SM) stupid shit about her dad.

And if you still need a reason, remember, the less ammunition we give Trump to take away our basic rights the better. We saw how reacted to Pence getting booed at Hamilton. Do you really wanna see how he reacts if people bully his kids?

These next four years aren’t going to be easy, we’re going to protest, argue and resist the best we can, but we can still have some class and common decency in the process.

Remember what Michelle Obama said, “When they go low, we go high.”

PS: Also extend this courtesy to the children of Mike Pence and his cabinet picks.

This is what I was referring to in my earlier post. The NSA showed up at my house due to some shit I said. They questioned me, and when they realized I wasn’t a threat to national security, left me alone. Still, had they wanted to, they could have black bagged my ass and carted me off to a blacksite if they were feeling particularly bored and no one would know. So like…PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU SAY. Especially if you’re active in protests and documenting shit. Use disposable cameras, and never ever use your cellphone for shit like that.

A girl from IDK what fandom got an embarrassing visit from the Secret Service in 2004 after making a jokey post on LiveJournal “praying” for God to smite the President in an embarrassing or scandalous way. Nothing came of it but a stern lecture, but it’s good to know the rules on this depending on dangerous it is for you to come into contact with law enforcement.

For US security purposes, always assume criminal death threats include: -Jokes, even really obvious jokes about movies, memes, etc. -Anything that starts “I hope/wish someone…” or “When is someone going to…” or “Someone should really…” These are treated the same as “I am going to…” This applies even to fictional characters, like “I hope Darth Vader…” -Fantasies/stories about assassination or the aftermath of an assassination. -Things like “We could really use a [name of famous assassin]” or “Anyone know when the President is going to [location of previous assassination]?”

Don’t come into contact with law enforcement if you don’t have to.
