Curious Covers: A Remainder of One
Math was one of my worst subjects from a young age. Even when I wasn’t struggling with it, I didn’t enjoy it. However, this book I enjoyed. It’s a clever exploration of division and the concept of a remainder, wrapped in a story about a parade and poor Private Joe, our main character who keeps finding himself the “remainder of one”. As in, it's easy to draw a beetle, that you can recognise as a generic beetle in general, but if you have to distinctly make it a specific species of beetle, that's recognisable as such, that's a whole other thing.
Also fun fact: There are plenty of very good quality reference pictures of these ittle fellows. However, most of them are of them shagging.

Little Miss Pigeon Head
A young woman sits in a rolling chair with her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands as she looks to the left. There is a black cat and a ball of yellow yarn at her feet. On her head is a pigeon holding the end of the yarn, which is also wrapped around the young woman. This fascinating portrait was created by Kristin Eriksson.
