Defund the cowards.
the fact that welcome to the black parade was recorded in a haunted mansion called the paramour and they recorded it in the middle of the night in the ballroom and the bass player had to go live with a therapist and the lead singer would have night terrors of being strangled and the guitarist would see a woman in white walking the halls. who is doing it like my chemical romance. fucking no one
the fact that in a video shoot the singer broke his ankle and kept performing screaming in agony and the drummer caught on fire and kept playing anyway and sustained third degree burns that become gangrenous. who is doing it like my chemical romance. fucking no one
Great grandma only had 12 kids because she died giving birth to the 13th because after a certain point and a certain age childbirth becomes much riskier. But your great-grandfather certainly didnât let a little thing like her health stop him from fucking her.
Grandma, as the oldest girl, took on the maternal role when her mother died because thatâs what girls and women are for and thatâs how these giant families work: with the older girls providing childcare for the younger children until the younger girls become old enough to contribute as well. Then when she had a husband and kids of her own she was drugged out of her mind because being dissatisfied with being a wife and mother and doing nothing else meant you had some kind of mental problem. She was either sedated so she wouldnât feel the crushing depression, or she was hyped on amphetamines to get her through the long pointless days.
Your mother never caught on that her own mother was unhappy, because the drugs smoothed her out and kept her from talking about her pain. Your mom used her newfound rights to go to college and get a job, because she was told that a liberated woman could have a family and a career and a husband who treated her as an equal. When her husband left it to her to handle the home and the child care, just like generations before him, your mother convinced herself it was her choice. When she was exhausted trying to balance her paid full-time work and her domestic tasks, and still wasnât happy, she figured she just wasnât liberated enough. She blamed herself for not being able to ~have it all~ like she was promised.
I just canât deal with these people. Anyone whoâs ever read anything from prior generations of women knows that they were miserable, but these guys want us to believe it was somehow a happier time.
Thank you. Almost everyone else in the notes is saying that families had so many children only because of the high mortality rate of infants. Iâm pretty sure the institutions that forced women into unwanted marriages, pregnancies, childbirths, and motherhood had more to do with it.
Pregnancy is long and painful. Childbirth is indescribably excruciating, often lethal (especially two, three generations ago). And if you lose multiple children after going through it multiple times, that isnât exactly a reason to keep doing it⌠unless youâre not the one who has to endure it and you have another person who can do it for you.
Iâd wager that women who went through childbirth 12+ times didnât decide to do that of their own accord. They were legally understood to be the property of their husbands. They were socially understood to be incubators and domestic servants. They were barred from the public sphere â jobs, education, politics, etc. â most had to marry to survive.
Itâs not hard to understand that, given the right to not have kids, a lot of women wonât have kids. A lot of us just want dogs, ffs.
100% â and I appreciate this post standing up for women who donât want kids period â but also the number of women who WANT to have 12+ kids, where it doesnât involve some kind of coercion (including the ideological kind pushed by religious cults like Quiverfull) â is minuscule to nonexistent. Acting like thatâs the ideal to aspire to, either you are just really stupid, or you hate women having choices in how to run our lives and being able to use our full human potential the same as men. (Most often itâs the latter but managing to con some of the former.) And this is why reproductive rights including access to birth control but ALSO abortion is essential to womenâs full citizenship
They help with debilitating and painful symptoms.
I need y'all to read that article and fully understand how absolutely fucked this is. RA is a progressive disease. There is no cure. The ONLY option is to slow it down as much as possible and hope for remission. Methotrexate is one of the most effective drugs in doing this. I currently take it.
And with it, I can function normally, most of the time. I can be symptom-free, most of the time. Pain-free, most of the time. But without it?
Without it, my fingers start to feel like they're broken in several places. My hands swell up and turn red and lose movement and dexterity. My shoulder joints swell up so much that they no longer fit into the sockets quite right and routinely slips out when I move it. Just...dislocate at random. My ankles double in size and lose freedom of movement. My jaw hinge and knees begin to ache and don't stop.
I am in agony. I can't work. I can't sleep. I can't exercise or take care of myself. Nothing helps except taking my meds--the methotrexate--and waiting for the flare up to end. And every single time, irreparable damage is done to my joints. My disease progresses just a little bit and I can't walk it back.
Withholding medications from RA patients like this is cruel and inhumane. It will lead to permanent disability, shortened lifespans, and agonizing deaths for RA sufferers. It is essentially telling all people with RA who could get pregnant: your actual life is worth less than the hypothetical babies you might have. It is unethical and downright fucking evil.
yall im losing it, TIL the âWAKE ME UPâ in bring me to life was added on bc the record company thought the song should be more masculine LMAO??
this is wild

holy shit
When I tell that I LOVE solarpunk
that âwhen mcr say they want to be dangerous they really mean gayâ post is hilarious but also like. yes. exactly. thatâs what they were going for. that was on purpose.
iâm really not joking in the slightest btw. people forget how violent and rigid the mid to early 2000s were against queer people and women. mcr getting onstage led by someone who bent gender roles so harshly they triggered an entire generation of trans crises and proceeding to kiss each other and sing about gay sex and specifically cater their audience to center queer kids. that was a very very in your face style of protest. when they say dangerous they DO mean gay. what they were doing put targets on their back. they knew exactly what that meant and what it was there for.
Are we just gonna ignore Entei sitting there and watching

Your hometown has âculture,â but does it have a 13 foot, bright orange, bug-eyed t-rex with weirdly human teeth
We are not the same
Oh yeah? Well my hometown has this fine late Victorian lad.
An allegedly real not at all shitty fake frog taxidermy that tourists pay real money to look at.
We have BLUCIFER. Killed his creator.
My hometown has this massive Paul Bunyan statue on top of a Cafe.
I see your Paul Bunyan and raise you The Big Chicken.
I see your large poultry and raise you Communist Cookie Monster mural.
This guy was at the center of a citywide mystery that tore neighborhoods apart in bitter rivalries and led dozens of people to write an anonymous con artist on the mayoral ballot.
Youâre right. My home town had none Iâd these. Just a funky lookin clock.
We have a drunken pink elephant with glasses.
And The Lauterbach Man (he used to hold a tire but it was replaced after 9/11. he also lost his head during a huge tornado about 10-ish years ago)
A large metallic Buck made of bumpers from cars that were totaled when they hit a big normal Buck.
Creepy Abe Lincoln at the State Fairgrounds
And the Corndog Couple.
Oh! And the auto parts store that has metal men ready to defend their property. Pretty sure they come alive at night.
Weâve got this fuckin thing. Everyone knows about Nessie, but Kingsley is the hero we deserve.
(Disclaimer: near me, not same town sadly)
We got fiberglass bison in random locations. This one is outside my favorite bookstore. Her name is Pearl.
Big blue bug!!!!!
They dress him up for the holidays
But my personal fav is this guy. Covid conscious big blue bug!!!!

[ID: Two tweets by Cedar. They read: âWhen Indigenous people say stolen land we donât mean 500 years ago. In the late 1800s a lumber company had my g+ grandfather tell them stories & asked for an âautographâ on blank paper. They forged a land transfer. Itâs a golf course today. This is typical Native family history. Another moment in typical Native family history: Colonizer wanted farmland, said my great+ Auntâs [farm animal] gored him. Her tribe testified in court, she didnât even own [that type of animal], no one did. She lost, had to pay fees, her home/land was valued at the exact amount.â End ID.]
In the dead of night in the late 1800s, free masons came to my familyâs land and set fire to their crops, their animals, and their home. My family fled their land out of fear of being murdered and their land was stolen from them. These stories are so commonplace yet colonizers and settlers like to place us in mental museums so they donât have to face their true colors.
Anyway with anti-sodomy laws back on the discussion table Iâm going to repeat that you can personally be squicked out by the consensual sex someone else has, but saying that their consensual sex between willing, active, adult participants should be illegal and is indicative of some sort of moral failing is L I T E R A L L Y a major facet in extreme homophobia and absolutely has gotten people killed.
You donât have to like their business but as long as everyone involved in the encounter is saying yes, itâs also really not your business.
This is the precident you are helping further by digging your heels in and saying âbut I think itâs gross and makes them bad peopleâ. This is what happened last time that was the reasoning for law, and what is being threatened to happen again.
âbut Jaz, how would they enforce itâ
Easily.
People would report you to the police for any hint of it. Whether real or imagined. You held hands with someone of the same sex. Someone started a rumor that they saw you kissing. You bought a sex toy and the vendor automatically reported you. You clicked a web page or picked up a magazine that had a different suspected deviant on it and the shop owner or internet service provider automatically reported you. You had certain mannerisms. You hung out to much with a specific friend. You seemed too close to a family member. Literally anything.
In some cases people would literally peep through windows, listen at the door, even wait across the street for your guest to come over and then call the police to kick the door down and catch the two of you in the act.
Never forget that the Stonewall riot was started by one such raid where police stormed a gay bar looking to arrest as many âsodomyâ and âpublic indecencyâ suspects as possible.
Thatâs how. By encouraging people to barge into other peopleâs private, consensual sex lives and make reports to the authorities. By encouraging people to lay traps so unsuspecting gay people could stumble into them. By encouraging people to stalk and harass anyone who showed any sign of âbeing a pervertâ in the name of âprotecting neighborhoods from predatorsâ. By weaponizing the real concern for predatory behavior against people who were engaging in consensual intimacy in a way they happened to not like.
By doing exactly what Iâve been continuously saying is bad behavior that has gotten countless LGBT people jailed and killed.
Weâre not turning this against our own community. Homophobes and transphobes have already made it plenty clear they donât care how good or respectable we are, they just want us all dead.
âhow would they enforce itâ
well in 2012 a guy named snowden let us know theyâre basically wiretapping us at all times and have gigantic collections of all our metadata and we have been living in a nice little surveillance state since 2001âs patriot act
Losing Miranda Rights protections wasnât on my 2022 bingo card yet here we areâŚ.
The Supreme Court limited the ability to enforce Miranda rights in a ruling Thursday that said that suspects who are not warned about their
Because what America really needs right now is less ability to hold cops personally accountable for their actions
So this means that you do still have the right to remain silent.
You just now cannot sue if you are not told your rights.
Unfortunately, this will mostly harm those unaware of their rights. So will deeply, and mostly, effect uneducated people and those unfamiliar with U.S. laws (such as new immigrants).
They (cops) are not only further protected, but now are allowed to not tell you when you have that right. Which honestly can just be confusing for anyone.
Itâs fucked up and definitely targets marginalized individuals, in addition to protecting cops. Double lose.
The Supreme Court does not care about us.
Now more than ever: DO NOT TALK TO COPS.
If you are taken into custody for Anything, you invoke your right to a lawyer (âI am invoking my right to a lawyer. Here is my lawyerâs number/Please assign me a public defender.â)
Then you shut the fuck up. âI am invoking my right to remain silent.â Do not make small talk. Do not answer ANY questions. If at any point you do (like to ask for the bathroom, a drink, etc) immediately repeat that you are invoking your right to silence. They will try to get you to talk. Theyâre allowed to try to get you to break your silence, and they will do so. Theyâll make you wait for the lawyer.
Every cop show ever has taught you that getting a lawyer looks guilty, and Iâm telling you thatâs propaganda. Get the fucking lawyer. Even if they just want a statement out of you, even if you called them. Get the lawyer. Shut up.
Btw you can be intensely critical of the Democratic party and recognize that it is full of aged out of touch moderates who are refusing to meet the urgency of the moment,
and also recognize that voting for Democrats is extremely important because it allows things like the confirmation of Justices and prevents the literal fascist party from gaining more power and that harm reduction is an important end in itself
These things can coexist
Politics is a long game. Being disappointed and angry today does not obviate your responsibility to participate
Politics is actually likeâŚone of the top reasons to cut someone out of your life? Where the fuck did we get this idea itâs an invalid reason to abandon people? Itâs literally your statement on how you think society should exist and what rights you think people should have and how. It ainât fucking âMy uncle Craigâs dead to me because he takes his sandwiches with the crust onâ itâs âMy uncle Craig has consistently stated a hatred of minorities and poor people for longer than Iâve been alive, of course Iâm gonna call him a piece of shitâ
