acting orders: captain, first officer spock, you must pretend to be married on this planet for complicated social reasons!
jim kirk: pretend to be married. yes. haha. pretend to be! what a stretch. what a—pretend. indeed. we’ll give it our best shot.

one of my biggest pet peeves is when people think that Hell and the Greek underworld are the same thing.
Hell is the place of punishment in Christianity for people who were bad in life.
the greek underworld is where literally every soul goes, good or bad. and hades gets control of all of them.
the really awesome souls get to party for eternity, the ordinary ones basically take a nap forever in the fields of asphodel, and the super bad ones get punished in various ways.
its not the binary of heaven and hell.
so stop drawing the underworld as this hellfire place full of tortured souls or whatever.
its more like a DMV thats in an underground cavern.
“Let’s talk about the personal shadow first. When we were one or two years old we had what we might visualize as a 360-degree personality. … but one day we noticed that our parents didn’t like certain parts of that ball. They said things like: “Can’t you be still?” Or “It isn’t nice to try and kill your brother.” Behind us we have an invisible bag, and the part of us our parents don’t like, we, to keep our parents’ love, put in the bag. By the time we go to school our bag is quite large. Then our teachers have their say: “Good children don’t get angry over such little things.” So we take our anger and put it in the bag. By the time my brother and I were twelve in Madison, Minnesota we were known as “the nice Bly boys.” Our bags were already a mile long. Then we do a lot of bag-stuffing in high school. This time it’s no longer the evil grownups that pressure us, but people our own age. So the student’s paranoia about grownups can be misplaced. I lied all through high school automatically to try to be more like the basketball players. Any part of myself that was a little slow went into the bag. My sons are going through the process now; I watched my daughters, who were older, experience it. I noticed with dismay how much they put into the bag, but there was nothing their mother or I could do about it. So I maintain that out of a round globe of energy that twenty-year-old ends up with a slice… We spend our life until we’re twenty deciding what parts of ourself to put into the bag, and we spend the rest of our lives trying to get them out again.”

My latest comic for The Nib was written by my friend Mike Thompson- it’s his first published comics work!
The Nib has been a steady source of income and a huge support to me and many other indie cartoonists for years. They publish amazing work, but will be cut loose by their financial backer in July. You can read the official post about it from editor Matt Bors here. They are still running their kickstarter-funded print magazine, but have to put digital publishing on hiatus until they figure out their next steps. If you’ve been thinking about supporting their membership program, now would be a good time. They have levels from $2 to $40 per month. I really don’t want this to be my last Nib piece!

you know what, THIS is how you address historical queer folks of all stripes in a respectful way. you refer to them the way they chose to be referred to, and you say “it’s impossible to know how they would’ve identified in today’s society, but they’re part of our history regardless”.
good news everyone. crows no longer need instructions to build tools and have started building them from memory, as well as passing the knowledge onto future generations of crows. oops!
better news everyone. crows have learned to construct these tools from unrelated items! they no longer need to follow the original blueprint they were given and are able to improvise using their surroundings.
Superb you funky little corvids
>pass them onto future generations
Crows have OFFICIALLY entered the stone age.
you better watch out. you better watch out. you better watch out. YOU BETTER WATCH OUT.
i repost this every year.
Tis the season we retell the story of threatening a rich man with his own death in order to get him to pay his employees livable wages and not horde money.
Never lose the holiday spirit.
#A Christmas Carol is the best Christmas story#terrorize the rich with ghosts to make them less crappy people and pay their workers
Never forget that Scrooge's impoverished employee made more than the US minimum wage!
I thought this was about National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
