partially her mind tunes itself to his words. partially it dances elsewhere, not as focused simply because rowan knows whatever answer which will slip from elijah’s mouth will be considered false. there is no way it could be true because, in the larger image, she knows both boys well. perhaps not as well she knows herself or her family members that she has spent much of her life well, but good enough to piece some things together.
"yes as long as you can prove to me that it happened, i will scold him for you,“ the gryffindor speaks lightly, lifting her own pinky to wrap it around his in a promise. a promise that she knows will unlikely be fulfilled unless elijah hatches a plan to falsely incriminate luke. which, she thinks he could try but he certainly wouldn’t succeed.
"but until then let’s play nice okay? maybe you’ll eventually come to like…he, the one who shall not be named,” she pauses, retracting her hand & looking at him curiously. “but what did he even do in the first place for you to dislike him?”
elijah nods his head a couple of times, “yes rowan!” he chirps happily at her, “i will make sure i can prove that the one that shall not be named bullied me!” he smiles at her then looks down at their pinkys that were wrapped around each other. he pouts slightly, “fine... i will play nice... for now that is!”
he looks at rowan with a blank face when she asks why he dislikes the one that shall not be named so much. one of the reasons was that he dislikes them was that obviously rowan can do so much better than him. she could have went for any other person in hogwarts but it had to be him. another reason was that it took them a bit too long for them to officially get together. of course, elijah didn’t want to hurt rowan about what he thinks of the two of them, so it was best for him to keep quiet.
he purses his lips slightly before shaking his head, “i cannot tell you! or else you will dislike me forever.” he pouts, “i wouldn’t want you, someone that i really like, to be mad at me...”
