So i was showing my friend some pictures of the Lotm donghua to convince him to watch it with me, more specifically i was showing him pictures of the true creator. I didn’t have any pictures on my phone so I obviously typed his name into google and among the many official artworks and fan arts is this screenshot

For once I want a “me and my whole class get transported” Isekai where the mc just… isn’t kicked out.

Like I get why the trope exists (nerdy/outcast boys wanting a power fantasy where they get to beat up bullies and make the pretty girl fall for them) but i genuinely think it would be way more interesting if they just didn’t leave.

Just think, you already have an entire cast of like, 20 characters who already have established social dynamics with each other that could be played around with for the story. You could have certain characters reveal traits about themselves that they kept hidden because of the perception that people have about them. It could be a story focusing on the idea that people are more than just what they are perceived as by the wider world or a story about finding common ground with people you’ve disregarded or maybe didn’t know well and working together for the greater good, overcoming your preconceived notions about who they are. And yeah not all of the classmates are going to be main characters, but still.

Hell, how about the idea that the class is actually a cohesive unit that knows how to work together and isn’t immediately ok with sending someone they know off to die. Even if they don’t like them or find them weird it’s not like they want the guy/girl to die. Or even that (and hear me out ok this) nobody is bullying anyone, even the weird loner is treated at least ok by the rest of the class. Have the new world king/queen/princess/etc try to make an evil manipulation plot but the class just… doesn’t fall for it, they cover for their friend/classmate. For once I want an mc that maybe isn’t popular but has like, actual friends and social skills.

But instead we get “class kicked me out because evil plot/popular girl liked me/everyone’s a dick to me for no reason so I become super mega overpowered with my super rare and powerful and cool and edgy secret class and my cat girl slave harem, but it’s fine that I own slaves because I’m nice to them :) (please don’t think of the implications of why the mc who is presumably a teenager/young adult is ok with owning slaves itssss fiiiiinnnnneeeee :) )” for the 19,863,581th time.
