A game about becoming a monster to protect somebody you love.
For My Brother follows a girl who is willing to give everything for her younger brother. As she fights to gain the powers of untamed nature in order to save him, she becomes less and less human and their bond is changed forever.
Tumblr feed, I feel this is up the right alley for a lot of you: a female lead, a female lead who isn’t there just to be pretty, emotional resonance, a badass soundtrack, indie development by a fantastic team of people.
Back FMB on Kickstarter, and make this gorgeous piece of art a reality.
Devs are seeking $150,000 for this “I must become the beast to defeat the beasts to save my brother but will he accept me for the beast that I have become and am I spoiling the story I might be so shush and make with the link”.
For My Brother, cave concepts. The cave stage has sections of dark caverns with luminescent fungus, alternating with caverns lit by sunbeams from the world above. I have two different palettes in place and tried both one separately, and then blended them together to see how a transition between them might look.
Celeste Tainari B with Lifted Geek posted a huge interview with members of Crooked Tree Studios about For My Brother.
Not only is the story intriguing, but the art style is as well. Their art holds a very strong resemblance to the Insular Art style, which is seen a lot during the early Romanization of the British Isles. This is another concept that you don’t see a lot in video games. It seems fitting if not perfect for the 2D side scroller.
After watching the trailer and reading through their kickstarter, I was practically throwing my money at the computer monitor.
I was lucky enough to actually know the artist behind the project, Matt Olch, which allowed Justin Prince as well as myself to get in touch with Katy Levinson; the Business Developer and writer. Through Katy, we were able to ask questions about “For my Brother” and get some more in-depth detail about the developing game that wasn’t covered in their kickstarter.
We're excited to announce the development of our second title, For My Brother, a sidescrolling puzzle platformer with original music by Machinae Supremacy.
The game follows a girl as she ventures into a magical forest, battling the forces of nature and putting her very humanity at stake to protect her younger brother's future.
Taking inspiration from Megaman, Shadow of the Colossus, and Metroid, the game will offer gorgeous platform terrain puzzle levels and intense boss fights that take advantage of your surroundings. With each boss defeated, Sister's abilities will increase, allowing her new ways of navigating her environment.
Back the project on Kickstarter to get your copy of the game as well as great swag like posters, t-shirts, pendants, and even plushies!
