Mason is a mummy attending his eighth year at Dreadful Academy. He's the resident stoner and can usually be found in the alley behind the cafeteria watching clouds pass overhead. He'll eagerly share a joint with you if you ask him. Mason is also trans and pansexual
It may be shocking to some readers to see that Mason has been attending Dreadful for 8 years, but that's just how the school is set up. Dreadful Academy takes ages 13 and up, offering high school through college level education. It's set up this way to allow monster students a safe and consistent learning environment away from the human world for as long as they need (and are able to pay)
Mason has been attending Dreadful since he turned 13, completing his high school education a bit late at age 19, and slowly continuing on with his college courses. He often fails his classes and has to retake them, not out of lack of brains, but because he simply can't be bothered to do what he doesn't want to do, which is sit in a classroom all day when the weather outside is just so nice! Because of this he usually passes most of his classes in the winter months
There's not much to say about Mason aside from his relaxed attitude towards the world and life in general. He's an extremely friendly person, happily talking to anyone who wants to stop and chat about anything, but his favorite subjects are nature and animal trivia.
Mason's parents sent him off to Dreadful when he got kicked out of his Egyptian school system for failing grades and substance use. They also kinda wanted him out of the house to "teach him a lesson" about being a responsible adult, but Mason's been doing pretty well on his own. He does attend Dreadful Academy on their dime, but with his six younger siblings back home keeping their hands full, they're happy to keep paying his way to keep him out of the house.
Mason doesn't have a stable job yet, preferring to freelance wherever he's needed. On occasion he works at his friend Cece's family ice cream parlor when they need an extra hand, and Jade sometimes has a loading shift for him at the hobby store, but his dream job is to be a park ranger, or maybe a zookeeper.
Mason is a genuinely kind soul and, despite a bit of a lack of attention from his parents growing up, he's one of the happiest, most well adjusted individuals you'll ever meet. His friends think if he just put a little more effort into school he would be an amazing therapist.
