The tone of the messages that I have been getting from Gazans are increasingly desperate and negative. Can ICC end the siege? Can we talk about that. I know everyone is tired of boosting personal gofundmes
And you must understand that for every sum they got they had to deduct up to 30 percent to account for the charge
Not only that, but if you see a fundraiser that’s raised, say, $50k, it’s highly likely that that’s been sent in increments (banks would freeze large lump sums anyway) to cover food, water, the cost of a tent OR rent in a bombed-out apartment, medical care, clothing, etc for an extended family (Palestinians in Palestine generally lived in extended families even outside of these conditions; I use this example a lot, but my maternal grandmother in the West Bank lives in one building complex with five of her six sons plus their wives and kids…I can’t do the math on that) for an ENTIRE YEAR. Think about this. How far would $50k go for a nuclear family of 5 in a major US city? How would that family fare if they were all sick all the time because they lived in unclean and unsafe conditions, the cost of food was inflated beyond belief, and they were regularly uprooted? The most meager, dirty, physically and psychologically painful existence in Gaza is wildly expensive.
The zionists' theft of aid trucks has caused a really bad famine in so many areas of Ghazzah that I have friends displaced in completely different areas of the strip reporting to me about the exact same famine-like circumstances. Absolutely no food anywhere. They've been looking for days on end to no avail and they're rationing what little they have left before everything they have runs out. I'm losing my mind thinking about how the world can keep spinning like this.
