The hybrid curse has finally been broken! After waiting for 5 centuries, Niklaus Mikaelson got what he wanted by using the blood of Katherine Pierce, who had to die to complete the ritual. His wolf side is no longer dormant and that means that the werewolves in town have to be careful. If he gets his hands on them, they risk being turned into hybrids - they’d have to obey his every wish because of the sire bond, and there is no breaking free. It’s kind of like the founder’s council that way and how Mystic Falls has to obey their spells and whatever they decide to do. In this town, anyone is a potential target and no one is safe anymore. If you’re not cursed, you risk being cured if you’re a supernatural. And let’s not forget that Mikael and Esther Mikaelson are on their side too, determined to kill the originals and make everyone’s lives a living hell. While some curses are permanent, others are just temporary. It all depends on what the council has planned for you and how badly they’d like to see you suffer. As for the cure? There are still supernaturals who do want it. Vampires will be able to reproduce if they take it, and werewolves? They wouldn’t have to turn during a full moon anymore. Finn Mikaelson was born in Mystic Falls with his siblings. However, when Finn’s sister Gabriella Mikaelson was killed by a werewolf, his mother performed a ritual which transformed the whole family into vampires. They drank wine laced with the blood of Tatia Petrova and were killed by Mikael Mikaelson soon after. Later, Mikael forced them to feed on human blood, thus turning them into the first original vampires. He was neutralized for about 9 centuries by his half brother Niklaus Mikaelson because Klaus thought that Finn was too judgmental for his taste. Because of this, he doesn’t know much about modern day life. He shares a great resentment for the original hybrid, especially because Klaus seems to think he can do whatever he wants, consequences be damned. He’s never been able to forgive Klaus for daggering him and making him miss out on life for so long. Finn’s always been closest to his mother and was devastated when he found out that she’d been killed, and who exactly had ended her life. This is another reason why he hates Klaus – because Klaus killed their mother without being remorseful at all. Finn feels as if his half brother doesn’t care for family, he just cares for himself. Finn hasn’t been able to live through many things, but when Elijah Mikaelson took out the dagger, he found out about Klaus wanting to create a superior vampire/werewolf race of his own. Not only that, but he hasn’t forgotten about Gabriella’s death which he wants revenge for as well. Looks like the entire family is after Klaus.

Elijah Mikaelson (Brother) → Elijah is who Finn always wanted to be like, and he looks up to his older brother, especially since it was Elijah who took out the dagger. He knows that should anything ever happen to Elijah, he’d have to look after their siblings and take over.

Kol Mikaelson (Brother) → Kol never liked that Finn was always a mama’s boy, and they’re not the closest. However, Finn knows Kol is still his brother, and cares for him.

Henrik Mikaelson (Brother) → It’s obvious that Henrik needs his older brother when it comes to many things. Finn has a lot of knowledge, despite the fact that he’d been in a coffin for 9 centuries. He’s Henrik’s guide in life, and likes being there for his sibling.

Rebekah Mikaelson (Sister) → Finn is very protective over Rebekah, especially with her desire to be human. He wants to make sure no harm comes to his little sister and wants to see her happy, because he feels she deserves it.

Gabriella Mikaelson (Sister) → Finn obviously loves Gabriella. He’s the protector and will probably never forgive Klaus for getting her killed. Finn admires his sister’s strength.

Niklaus Mikaelson (Half brother) → They share the same mother, but that’s as far as it goes where Finn is concerned. Klaus put him down for 9 centuries and if it wasn’t for Elijah, he’d still be gone now.

Sage Warner (Ex girlfriend) → Finn had been a vampire for about a century when he met Sage and fell in love with her. He turned her into a vampire, but their romance was short lived as Klaus stuck a dagger in his heart. She’d been looking for him all this time, and found Finn out of his coffin in Mystic Falls. They still get along well after everything.

Amelia Salvatore (One night stand) → His best friend Brooke set him up with Amelia, and they slept together after meeting. Little did Finn know that she was linked to Elijah. He feels bad about it, and isn’t sure if he should tell his brother.

Brooke Davis (Friend) → Finn grew up with Brooke, and she’s the only original that’s not a Mikaelson. He sees her as family, and the two have been best friends ever since they were little, always inseparable. He’s very protective over Brooke, wants to keep her safe and make sure she’s happy.

Faith Lehane (Friend) → They’re friends, but are often sassy with one another. Finn enjoys the company of Faith and likes that he can interact with her in such a carefree manner.

Theresa Hargrove (Acquaintance) → Finn saved her life one night when Theresa got attacked by a werewolf. She still doesn’t know it was him.

Marcellus Gerard is the former protégé of Niklaus Mikaelson and a vampire that he turned back in the day. In New Orleans, Marcel enforces a system of rules of his creation within the French quarter, which all supernatural residents must abide by. He considers himself the king of the quarter and of New Orleans. Before he was turned over 200 years ago, he was a slave who at some indeterminate time met Klaus, who turned him into a vampire. The price? Marcel had to give up the girl he’d fallen in love with - and she happened to be Klaus’ sister Rebekah Mikaelson. He was forced to choose between her and immortality, and chose the latter. He was Klaus’ protégé for a while, until Mikael Mikaelson showed up and caused Klaus to flee the city. Marcel survived Mikael’s massacre of the vampires of New Orleans, and eventually established a leadership role in the French quarter where to this day he reigns as a self proclaimed king. When Klaus shows up in New Orleans to pay him a visit, Marcel soon finds out that the guy who turned him is trying to sabotage his life there. People suddenly don’t obey him any longer and some of Marcel’s people end up missing or dead. And if you know Marcel, you know that he doesn’t let anybody get away with that kind of behavior. He knows Klaus is behind it all, and knows that the original hybrid is most likely still angry that Marcel has taken over the town. He follows Klaus back to Mystic Falls, already planning his revenge on the man. There’s so much he could do - from going to the council to trying to put a stop to Klaus making his hybrid army, or maybe doing something to his family. He just knows one thing, there can only be one king wherever he goes, and it’s not Klaus…

Rebekah Mikaelson (Ex girlfriend) → Rebekah and Marcel fell in love and were together, until Klaus found out and forbid the relationship. He made Marcel choose between her and immortality. He chose the latter.

Sophie Deveraux (One night stand) → He hooked up with Sophie once, when relationships between vampires and witches were a little less divided.

Davina Claire (Friend) → Marcel cares for Davina a great deal and sees her as family. He’s taken care of her when she had no family, and knows she’d do anything for him the way he’d do anything for her.

Camille O’Connell (Friend) → The two are drinking buddies and have been for a while. Camille doesn’t know Marcel is a vampire, but she seems to enjoy his company and vice versa. She’s not sure what she thinks about him being ruler of New Orleans though.

Joshua Rosza (Friend) → Although Marcel doesn’t fully trust Josh, he considers him somewhat of a friend. If it comes out that Josh is spying for Klaus, Marcel might not see him the same way anymore.

Lacey Ainsworth (Acquaintance) → Lacey knows of Marcel, but the two barely ever speak. He just makes sure to keep a close eye on her and her powers as she’s not allowed to use them under his watch.

Niklaus Mikaelson (Enemy) → Klaus raised and turned Marcel, for which he’s grateful. But now Klaus is angry at him for having taken over New Orleans. They used to be so close, but now that Marcel is the king of New Orleans, the bond between him and Klaus has almost been broken.

Elijah Mikaelson (Enemy) → Much like Klaus, Elijah doesn’t like how Marcel has claimed New Orleans and calls himself king of that city, when it used to belong to the Mikaelsons.

Henrik Mikaelson (Enemy) → Even if Henrik never agreed with Klaus on anything, he doesn’t like that Marcel has taken over the city that used to belong to him and his family.

Kol Mikaelson (Enemy) → If it’s one thing Kol hates, it’s things being taken away from him, which is exactly what Marcel did to him and his family. He wants to win New Orleans back somehow.

Bonnie Bennett has lived in Mystic Falls with her grandmother for a long time. She does have parents, but she gets along so much better with the elderly female than her mother and father that she can be found more often at the home of Sheila Bennett. She’s also the best friend of Caroline Forbes. The two of them have been grieving over the loss of their other best friend Elena Gilbert who died in a fatal car accident on wickery bridge. Her grandmother has been telling her odd things lately, convinced that Bonnie has supernatural gifts which she refuses to believe. She just wants to be normal like everyone else, but it’s kind of difficult when she comes from a long line of witches. Even though her grandma tries to make her see what she’s truly capable of, Bonnie still loves the woman with all her heart. What complicates things even further is Damon and Stefan Salvatore coming into town. Bonnie can’t help but be intrigued by Stefan and his charms when he enrolls at Mystic Falls high. But his brother Damon has been keeping an eye on her, and gets word of Bonnie’s witchy abilities – he wants her to do the spell which opens up the tomb. But it’s a dangerous spell that her grandmother is very reluctant about, and Bonnie’s not sure if she should help release a group of vampires back out into the world. Luckily, it never gets that far but she still doesn’t feel comfortable having vampires around, especially Damon who can be quite intriguing and demanding.

Athena Bennett (Sister) → Bonnie loves her older sister and sees her like a second mother. Athena is very protective over her and just like their grandmother, she tries to help Bonnie with her magic. They’re very close and get along well with one another.

Lily Bennett (Cousin) → The cousin she lost contact with, until Lily was taken into their grandmother’s home just like Bonnie. They spend a lot of time together, and with the help of Athena and Sheila, Bonnie tries to guide Lily into the world of witchcraft.

Xavier Gibson (Ex crush) → The guy she used to have a crush on. But things got messed up when Xavier tried channeling Bonnie’s powers without telling her. Once she found out, the witch was furious and she swore revenge, but never did. She simply told him to get out of her life.

Caroline Forbes (Friend) → Caroline is the only best friend Bonnie has left now that Elena has passed away. They lean on each other and are one another’s support system. But Bonnie doesn’t know how to deal with her friend having turned into a vampire. She wants to look past it, but it’s difficult for her to do.

Jeremy Gilbert (Friend) → With Elena gone, Bonnie feels it’s her duty to look after Jeremy the way that her best friend would have done. She’s often worried about him and wants to keep the young boy safe.

Matthew Donovan (Friend) → Matt is a close friend of Bonnie. He wasn’t just the boyfriend of Elena, but he also hung out with Bonnie and her other friends. They get along well.

Kyle Proudstar (Friend) → Kyle is a warlock and one of Bonnie’s friends. However, when he wants to protect a girl he cares about, he calls in the help of both Bonnie and Jeremy, since he has an immortality ring on his finger. Bonnie is quite fond of Kyle and vice versa.

Harper McCoy (Friend) → They were never as close as Caroline and Harper, but Bonnie still considers the other witch to be a friend.

Stefan Salvatore (Friend) → When Stefan came into town, Bonnie was very much intrigued by the new guy. However, when she found out that he was a vampire just like Damon, she began to keep her distance. She’s still not sure what to think of Stefan because of the fact that he’s a vampire.

Jane Freeman (Acquaintance) → Jane is pregnant with the baby of a werewolf and seeks protection from a pack. However, she keeps getting casted aside by werewolves and asks Bonnie to turn her into a werewolf to stand a better chance. But that’s exactly what Klaus wants…

Damon Salvatore (Enemy) → Damon pressured Bonnie to open the tomb for him, something she never felt comfortable with because he can be very demanding. She doesn’t like Damon, or vampires in general, but he’s definitely one she tries her best to avoid.

Jenna Sommers has had a rough summer. She lost her sister, her brother in law and her niece Elena Gilbert in an unfortunate accident where their car went over wickery bridge, drowning the 3 in the vehicle. She’s suffered a great loss, and on top of it, has had to come to terms with being an authoritative figure to a teenager who’s unwilling to listen and isn’t adapting to the loss of his family very well. Jenna has tried to do all she can for Jeremy Gilbert - she works hard, comes home on time to try and make dinners, tries to spend quality time with the guy and still gets shut out. How is she going to react when she finds that after summer’s over, Jeremy’s still cutting classes and hanging with the stoner crowd? Sure, she used to hang with the same crowd in school, but she doesn’t want the school to take away the only person she has left to remember her sister. What’s going to happen when she winds up finding a friend in Alaric Saltzman and she starts hearing rumors about vampires and werewolves in Mystic Falls? This is one job she didn’t sign up for.

Melody Sommers (Niece) → The daughter of her brother who happens to be a witch on her mother’s side. Jenna tries to be a good role model to Melody, much like her sister Miranda had been. She wants to take care of the girl like she’s doing with Jeremy. The two share a close bond.

Alaric Saltzman (Friend) → He’s protective over her, but she doesn’t know that Alaric is a hunter. In any case, he’s grown fond of Jenna and wants to make sure no harm comes to her, trying to keep supernaturals away from the female. Jenna finds herself enjoying his company and they get along well.

Mason Lockwood (Friend) → They used to go to school together when they were teenagers and now that Mason has returned, Jenna thinks it’s nice to see a familiar face. She and Mason have always gotten along great and remain good friends.

She’s spent the last 500 years searching for her mother, but is seemingly not very well accustomed to modern American culture, as she’s lived most of her life in Bulgaria. Her mother had Nadia out of wedlock, and her grandfather was the one to give her away to a new family. Nadia was only 8 years old when Katherine had escaped Niklaus Mikaelson and found her way back to Bulgaria. Katherine searched every village and every cottage, but couldn’t find Nadia anywhere. None other than Giselle Warner had been keeping in contact with Nadia and the people who raised her, pretending to have good intentions when Nadia was still a little girl. Giselle had plans with this girl… When Nadia learned about Klaus and how her mother had been running for a long time from this man, she asked Giselle to turn her, so that she could eventually establish a relationship with Katherine. Giselle agreed, but told Nadia that some day, she’d want something in return. Not right away, but some day in the future, the girl would have to pay off her debt to the older vampire. Now, Nadia’s found her way to Mystic Falls, wanting to find her mother here, not knowing what kind of danger really lurks in this town.

Andrew Pierce (Uncle) → Like Katherine, Andrew never saw Nadia again after giving her up. He’s been looking for her like his sister, but never found the girl on his search. Andrew doesn’t know she’s alive and a vampire.

Jeremy Gilbert was born in Mystic Falls, the place he’s been calling home all of his life. His parents had always wanted a child, but adopted Elena Gilbert prior to Jeremy’s birth, thinking they weren’t able to have children – until they got pregnant with him. Jeremy has a talent for drawing, and before his parents and Elena died, that’s what he loved to do. After the accident, Jeremy became severely depressed and started using drugs and drinking. It got so bad that he did drugs with Victoria Donovan, and the two slept together a couple of times before she died. Jeremy’s also turning into an alcoholic, and his aunt Jenna Sommers is having a difficult time pulling her nephew back from his out of control life style. He doesn’t know about supernatural activity in town, until weird things start to happen and he begins to question them. He knows that eventually, he has to get out of this depression, but how? The death of his adoptive sister is taking a toll on him, but maybe something out there is serving a purpose as a ray of light?

Sydney Gilbert (Cousin) → Jeremy doesn’t know about Sydney because his uncle John never told him about her. At first, Jeremy is very reluctant to build a bond with Sydney, because he feels she just came to town to replace Elena. Eventually, he warms up to her and takes her in like a sister.

Jenna Sommers (Aunt) → Ever since his parents and Elena died, Jenna has been looking after Jeremy. He often doesn’t listen to her and can mostly be found at school, drunk or stoned. He hasn’t been dealing with the death of his family, and chooses to ignore it, pushing Jenna away.

Melody Sommers (Cousin) → Jeremy was never close with Melody because she lives in a different town. But when she hears about the accident, she decides to come to Mystic Falls to support her aunt Jenna and help her look after Jeremy. It’s pretty hard for her to get through to him, but she won’t stop trying and secretly, he admires that about her.

Matthew Donovan (Friend) → Matt is a friend of Jeremy, though he doesn’t know his sister Vicki has slept with Jeremy. They’re not particularly close, but Jeremy always thought Matt was a pretty cool guy when he dated Elena. Unlike Tyler, Matt is nice to Jeremy and they even work at the Mystic Grill together.

Caroline Forbes (Friend) → With Elena gone, Caroline feels it’s her duty to look after Jeremy the way that her best friend would have done. She’s often worried about him and wants to keep the young boy safe. Jeremy has always been fond of Caroline, even when she was a human. He accepted her for who she was and never thought less of the girl.

Bonnie Bennett (Friend) → Bonnie also feels worried about Jeremy, and wants him to be happy. She tries to be there for him now that he’s lost Elena. They get along pretty well.

Kyle Proudstar (Friend) → When Kyle wants to protect a girl he cares about, he calls in the help of both Bonnie and Jeremy, since he has an immortality ring on his finger. Jeremy is a good friend of Kyle and he sometimes visits the hospital to see the warlock.

Madison Carpenter (Friend) → Jeremy likes working with Madison at Mystic Grill. Why? Because there’s no pressure. They can joke around during shifts and he can simply be himself without her coddling him like everyone else seems to do. They’re not close, but consider themselves friends.

Alaric Saltzman (Friend) → Alaric replaces the high school’s previous history teacher and finds his jackass file, which is really just a file that is about Jeremy. After reading the file, he offers to give Jeremy a second chance by doing an extra credit history report. He also sees Jeremy as he spends time with Jenna, and just like Jeremy, Alaric has an immortality ring, given to him by his ex wife.

Tyler Lockwood (Enemy) → Nobody knows it yet, but they have more in common than they think. Both Tyler and Jeremy have slept with Vicki before the girl was killed by a vampire, something the police are playing off as an animal attack. Tyler has a tendency to be mean to Jeremy, mainly because the young boy is taking drugs and alcohol, which Tyler makes fun of. It’s only a matter of time before Tyler finds out that Jeremy has been sleeping with his ex girlfriend.

Katherine Pierce (Enemy) → She looks just like Elena, except, she’s Katherine. When Jeremy met her, she pretended to be Elena, back from the dead. It messed with his head for the longest time, until he found out she was a vampire, and Elena was her doppelganger. Jeremy doesn’t like Katherine. Every single time he looks at her, he’s reminded of Elena, and she’s not coming back.

Valerie Redgrave (Killer) → When Jeremy is out during the full moon, a werewolf attacks him to the point where he dies. However, because he has an immortality ring, he comes back to life. Jeremy’s not sure how he feels about Valerie. He knows it wasn’t her fault, but he still feels shaken up and like her, he’s having nightmares about the event.

Enzo was turned by a man who was on the run from Niklaus Mikaelson and had been for a long time. He wanted a companion, so that he’d feel safer, and turned Enzo into a vampire. However, when Enzo was turned, he didn’t feel the urge to travel with Holden. He stabbed the other vampire to weaken him, and escaped, never looking back. Enzo was found by the Whitmore family after he left his post in Eastern Europe during World War 2. He was imprisoned by Doctor Whitmore and forced to endure his torture for 10 years. Damon was imprisoned due to Joseph Salvatore selling him out, and Enzo reached out a hand of friendship with the young vampire. They would talk about many things to keep their hope of escape up. Enzo planned to have Damon take his ration of blood for a year so that he would be stronger and assist in the escape. During the annual New Year’s Eve Party at Whitmore, Damon broke free of his chains and attacked everyone, but in the process, caused a fire. Enzo was still stuck in a cage laced with vervain and Damon attempted to free his friend to no avail. Realizing that he couldn’t free his friend and fearful that Augustine would take him back, Damon turned off his emotions and abandoned him. Enzo continuously screamed for his friend to free him, but as Damon left, he assumed Enzo had died in the fire. He survived due to one of the scientists helping him, but only to further torment him. When a college student had gone into the Whitmore House to attend a party, she found Enzo, only for the starved vampire to chase, feed and ultimately throw her out of the building. He’s been causing a lot of deaths around town lately, leaving a trail of bodies all over the place without realizing that the council will find out eventually…

Ever since then, Sophie has wanted to execute her plan for a witches’ revolt against Marcel and the vampires that control the city of New Orleans. Once Marcel leaves town, Sophie decides to follow him, just to keep track of the vampire and his possible bad intentions when it comes to the witches in New Orleans. When she arrives in Mystic Falls, she finds out that the town is anything but normal, and she also learns about the history between Marcel and the man who turned him about 200 years ago. Even though she’s not in her hometown anymore, Sophie still plans to recruit witches in Mystic Falls so they can help her with what’s going on in New Orleans, so they can be free and use magic again.
