I GOT CURIOUS on tv.tropes and neutral evil page just called rymus the fuck out; 

Type 3: Balance Seeker — These characters on the other hand are egomaniacal; they believe that they are the good, or even The Hero, and evil either doesn't exist or is whatever they don't like. These guys might recognize that the rest of the world has different ethical standards from them, but those standards are for lesser mortals and they will obey them only when it is convenient to do so. Often elitist and smug with a grandiose sense of entitlement and self-worth, they often think The Hero thwarts their plans out of jealousy, ignorance or spite and often fail to understand altruism or selfless behavior. They treat the bulk of humanity with indifference if not utter contempt, even if they regard themselves as a Well-Intentioned Extremist, believing themselves to be the center of the world, perhaps sharing it with a handful of semi-worthy competitors and everyone else exists to serve their needs or glorify them. Others don't care about the common person at all except as means to an end, while some are simply the Misanthrope Supreme and will shut themselves off from the trash that is mankind; or, worse, take a Kill 'Em All approach to Put Them All Out of My Misery. A Type 3 is fully capable of doing heinous or petty things For the Evulz and can be extremely sadistic and vindictive; they just won't consider such acts to be evil (at least, in general) because they feel they are entitled to do them.

Rymus is HEAVILY in denial of the fact that he does have real emotions, even if they’re often not much more than anger and grief. He doesn’t know how to handle himself as a person rather than a Better Creature Than Everyone Else/one of his crafted personas, to the point where he spends more time playing his different characters than being himself.

Rymus is.. incapable of actually feeling genuine care for people. He simply doesn’t repect an iota of humanity and sees everyone as potentials tools or distractions; his ‘love’ is in-fact an intense possessive obsession ( ie; ‘i want to own/control you’ rather than ‘i care genuinely about your wellbeing). This is what Rymus thinks real love is, and he believes he’s genuinely caring in his want to control the people he finds most useful to him.

As much as Rymus considers himself Above human things like emotions, he is an incredibly sad person. He’s alone. He’s the first and last of his kind, and despite his plans to change that he’s aware that the exact details of the process has been lost well over 200 years ago. It’s a hopeless task and much like trying to catch smoke, but he convinces himself that he will be happy once biological life is gone and there’s only him and his creations to fill the world. But in truth? He doesn’t want to be the only one, but he doesn’t want to let go of his position as a ‘one of a kind’ creature; he knows, in the end, his ‘mission’ will only frustrate him further, and behind his mask is a lot of hopelessness surrounding the facts of his existence. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t - what better thing to do with that than damn the rest of the world with him?

Rymus..does not get physically sick. He was created via alchemy and as a result his body is literally made up of raw magic energy rather than flesh and bone. While it isn’t any stronger than a human body physically, he does have an inhuman immune system. HOWEVER, if he’s in a area that’s extremely low in Arcane energy, or around wards that deplete or harvest energy, he will get extremely lethargic.

Rymus has a fascination with machinery and man-made objects and tends to talk to them as if they’re actual sentient beings like he is. He has a pocket-watch, it has a name and if it was sentient then it would have had several breakdowns over the things that Rymus has confided to it over the centuries.

Rymus has a very bad habit of acting stressed when he isn’t; he presents himself as erratic and over-cautious, cowardly even, and has very well-rehearsed breakdowns that in modern times could probably earn him an award or two. He knows how to shout and cry and make his voice crack and go shrill at the end of a long ramble, and he knows people who see him behave like that rarely believe that he’s the culprit behind the majority stressful events occurring around his person.   If he’s really genuinely stressed though? Spitefulness and pettiness, expect a sudden spike in arson and petty comments about things he really should not know about. Rymus is almost always pre-planning things, and if something doesn’t go his way he will have a meltdown over it & take that out on people/anything within a 10 mile radius.

Rymus has no biological family, and that doesn’t bother him, but what does bother him is people that do ( ie, everyone). In particular he struggles to empathise with family ties, to the point of finding Gregory’s interest in his brothers’ wellbeing to be annoying and inconvenient.

The majority of the time, everything about his personality and mental wellbeing is a purposeful show. Rymus has worn a mask for centuries and he’s far more comfortable in it than he is in actually expressing himself truly - he’s playing this role 99% of the time, 24/7, for years on end, and he’s good at it. The mask is well-polished, with all it’s merits and flaws and quirks, and he knows that personality far better than he knows his own.

Rymus doesn’t NEED to eat or drink or do any kind of human function whatsoever, he literally just chooses to because he’s secretly really proud of seeming as human as possible at all times. catch this man drinking hot-chocolate and then casually spitting it into a sink a few hours later when everyone’s gone home
