as a parent, my one consistent, always true complaint is that I want to use the bathroom without someone calling for me.

contemplating my ruined cheesecake while drinking wine #shavuotthings
here's a funny conversation topic i had a with a friend: if you're over the age of 25, when's the last time you really *ran* in a panic (like you were late, chasing after something, etc. things like a marathon don't count!) and what was it for?
if you're over 25 what was the reason for the last time you were running in a panic
to catch the bus/train/other transit
running AWAY from something
something else
i dont run ever you cant make me
unfortunately my kid did pronounce “juice box” as “jewish box” this morning.
apparently I do not understand like. Booking etiquette if I am actively asking you about pricing and shit am I not first come?? Should you not inform me someone else is enquiring?? I am so frustrated and I can't even kvetch about it because apparently it's my own fault for not knowing this could happen
chag sameach here is my favorite tree jew except censored bc i’m sharing it with my hebrew school kids tomorrow during brain break
I’ve been thinking about this man all day.
ok can i be mean now? Little dreidel emoji for chanuka themed posts next year @staff. Do it. It cant possibly harder then what you did this year. Sufganiyot are round, repurpose the snowman thingy.
genuinely love the way that yeshiva bachurim talk
it’s honestly anthropologically fascinating to see what happens when you mix together 4 different languages and have it be spoken by both academics and teenagers
“Akupoonim, it’s nisht intersant that your chavruseh doesn’t chap the reid, mistomah he’s epis a shtickel harry. Monafshach, he’s still gradeh a feste guy.”
And to them, this is English.
I don't see the problem, it sounds like English to me
botched a cake so bad I'm emailing the people who printed it to confirm there was no printing errors
"Because I Love You" by Lex Marie.
She spent hours upon hours just beating the canvas with a belt...
when you look at the finished painting, you can almost see letters - but there aren't any. It's all noise. a lot of adults process this sort of beating by insisting there is a lesson in it. with the title and artist statement in mind, it's like they're trying to read a message of love written in that chaotic canvas.
the flu shot is important, im not denying that, im just pointing out that the availability of the flu shot coincides directly with cold season, which means those three magical days where kids are actually well enough to get the shot rarely line up for days where you can. actually physically make it to the pediatrician to get the shot. So you understand.

I made gingerbread golems on friday, because xmas has always been golem season to me, and i like gingerbread, and i had a little set of א-ב stamps i used to stamp אמת on all of their foreheads, and it was supposed to be a joke. it was supposed to be a joke.
chanukah party drama has already started.
I think the funniest/worst part of the whole "tu b'shvat/Tisha b'av" mistake in nobody wants this is that I, a Jew who grew up celebrating/observing (and still does) both of those holidays, regularly make the mistake because of the similar sound and structure. And every time I have I've been met with an identical amused and deadpan stare with a "I think you meant ___". Like. It could have been an intentional joke. Instead its just embarrassing and frustrating and so so stupid.
Hey when did it become okay to make fun of Ashkenazi food for being "gross"?? That's still antisemitism even if it's from within the community, y'all know that right??
And yes, this still applies even if you are Ashkenazi. Obviously it's okay not to like a food (I'm not a fan of kugel) but I'm real tired of "Ashkenazi food is gross and bad" being a punchline all the damn time
My grandmother has officially given me her old favorite cookbook.
Here is the recipe for one of the “ashki food is gross” final bosses— p’tcha:
(not actually a recipe my grandmother ever made, so I’ve never tried it)
P’tcha is actually delicious my mom used to make it.
When people insist Ashkenazi food is bad i assume they dont know how to cook

With you, I don't have to translate my heart. You already know the rhythm of it. You understand the joy that’s twinged with history, and the strength that’s born from survival. We’re each other’s safe harbor, a living, breathing testament to the idea that our people are not just a people, but a family. We are fully seen, fully known, and deeply cherished.
