Totally normal for a legitimate for-profit company to refuse to reclaim or stop running their products even after they're no longer being paid to do so. I'm sure it's very normal to just keep running your service for free when your contract's been terminated. Spending money to continue running cameras that supposedly no one is looking at is definitely not an indicator they are just run by the federal government to spy on everyone and only a wacko conspiracy theorist would think so.
do enjoy contemplating the idea that Oruggio made the Raincleaver for Qifrey when Qifrey went on his sad little soul-searching adventure
(click on those bad boys for better quality and more details!)
and you know what? i am REALLY sick of these ads that are openly mocking people for being concerned about the products they’re selling.
Amazon’s super bowl ad where the Alexa mocks Chris Hemsworth for being worried about giving spy software control over his entire life. Waymo’s ad with the intro “the robots are coming!” mocking people who are rightfully extremely concerned about sharing the road with, or riding in, self-driving cars.
i don’t know, it’s just genuinely insane to me. “Oh, you have legitimate concerns about our shitty product? sounds like you’re just lame!!!” like what kind of “quiet part out loud” marketing is that?
UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
idk man I know it's been said many times that this website is grieviously white (and I am of course. Part Of That) but it's genuinely kind of astonishing (derogatory) to accept even very mild criticism of (I think sincerely unintentional) racism/colonialism/xenophobia as a serious argument and not as an excuse to cover for personal discomfort. like the utter skepticism that that's an argument anyone would make entirely on its own merit is... telling, to put it lightly! not that that's a new realization either; you see it constantly with individuals racialized as non-white being treated as if they're needlessly stirring the pot when they point out racism in their friendships, workplaces, fandom and hobby spaces, etc.
my circle is so small that when the phone rings i know it's scammers.
happy 10 years to witch hat atelier!!! here's a repost of some art i made this year for it ◡̈
i only started reading this series in late 2021. ever since i remember trying to peddle it to any friend who'd ask me 'what manga should i start reading' LOL and now there's an anime to make my recommending a lot easier
Okay, as someone with terrible ability to tell social boundaries, what about your life is it okay for someone curious to ask about? You've shared personal information about your body and sex life, and have answered personal questions, but a question about a dietary preference you've shared is out of pocket. I hope you understand why someone might be frustrated.
stay frustrated

i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
don't mind me binge reading this manga and dragging all of my friends into the pit of despair that is the witch hat atelier series.
anyway enjoy your doomed dads.
and if i said nolan's odyssey starring no greek actors and with no recognizable aspects of greek culture or involvement by greeks, is the direct legacy of white supremacist colonialism that treated ancient greece as not just the pinnacle of ancient culture, but of an artificially created "european" culture, which white western europeans and their settler descendants, as the new pinnacle of culture, were the sole spiritual inheritors of.
^^^ PEOPLE ARE STILL THERE. There's a metro station across the street from the colosseum where i found a hair in my pizza slice. We drove by ruins of an amphitheater next to a motorway in greece once. It's literally just real places where real people live and have lived. It's not mythical perfect lands that once existed. I went to Itacha in 2023 and there was not enough parking space.
