For you and your internet friends! 💙
Feel free to send these to them but please do not repost
I love these so much.
This is how I feel about everything I do in my life. Sign up all excited to do it or accept an invitation from a friend, then wait in misery or terror until it is time to do the thing, and if I have not panic-cancelled, drag myself out the door only to end up enjoying the thing. What is wrong with me.
Any suggestions for LGBTQ literature?
Lots. So many. But in a desire not to overwhelm you...
Armistead Maupin is one of the finest American writers of the last fifty years, and his Tales of the City sequence is an astonishing view of life mostly in San Francisco since the 1970s. Gay, Lesbian, Trans, Bi, and straight characters, in a novel sequence of astonishing immediacy (immediate because the first half dozen books were written as weekly instalments in a daily newspaper).
Currently it’s a sequence of nine books. You can also get them in some places in three collections of three books each.
Enjoy.
stopping the movie to read the joke :D
Here is the full statement. Notice the related articles at the bottom.
And they’re not kidding, they actually got arrested in 2016 at a protest in Philadelphia
HEY! So if you missed my talk last night, or don’t feel like watching an hour-long speech on Instagram, I’ve distilled the most important points and turned them into this infographic. These points were largely informed by the work of multicultural education expert, Robin DiAngelo, PhD, who specializes in white racial literacy. If you feel like digging deeper, her work is incredibly illuminating and in my opinion, should be required reading for every white American.
Learn about her important work here: https://robindiangelo.com.
And thank you to all who did show up last night. It was a hard speech to muscle through and your presence helped so much. ❤️
ADDENDUM: We are also embarking on Pride month. If you are straight and cisgendered, you can also adapt and integrate these principles to make the world safer for members of the LGBTQIA+ community who also endure discrimination, violence, and trauma and deserve equality and justice. Pride and the fight for black lives are entwined.
is anybody else in that weird state where quarantine is a blessing for half of you and your mental state and the other half of you and your mental state is being completely obliterated and destroyed. bc same
‘I have never been so relaxed and worry free!’ I think to myself minutes after my 3rd panic attack of the day, preparing for yet another one.
Yes. This.
me reading this part the first time: haha what a funny random side character
me reading it the second time: life is made up of immeasurable pain
‘Get out of here. I don’t want to spend time with you.’
I mean the lady means what she says.
Also, I am a vile monster of cruelty, so there’s that.
The most painful part is knowing that SHE KNEW she was his mother and STILL said that.
Bonus:
This gang of rebels has never followed a single rule in their entire lives. collectively they have 1 braincell and it belongs to Golden most of the time
Sheer perfection, my book in meme form.
you know what’s good? when characters are on a last-name basis, but something terrible’s happened and they start calling for the other by the first name.
This moment. 😭😭😭
Meanwhile, in Spain:
Spring happens and it's not photoshopped!
Actually it's this: a carpet of poplar fluff burns to reveal the grass below at the Parque del Cidacos de Calahorra, Spain.
According to geographyrealm.com:The seed fluff produced by poplars is also highly flammable. The combustible seeds can quickly catch fire and burn off, leaving underlying grass and other vegetation untouched.
I know it's poplar fluff and not snow, but this looks like Persephone coming up from the Underworld and kicking winter to the curb.
This works for students, but also for librarians who are overworked and tired of other humans.
i don't need any more friend because i have one very big friend, here he is
So cool!
