My Photograph of the Day: Dragon

A new feature for 2018, a daily photograph with a brief discussion about how the photograph was taken. Today

I have been to Antelope Canyon – both upper and lower – several times. My favorite is lower Antelope Canyon.  It is less crowded, and you can spend more time wandering among the slot canyon taking some great shots.

This is one of those many shots that I took on this day. What may not be obvious is that these colors are already present in the rock.  I decided to go artistic and exaggerate the purples and the reds by shifting the color balance more towards the blue and the purple. And this is the results...

... On this particular morning, I arrived at Point Imperial at 1 am. So I did the typical landscape photographer’s deal and slept in my car until the early morning light was starting to light up the walls of the canyon.  I had decided to do a panorama to get a sense of the views that can be seen from Point Imperial, so I set up my camera on my tripod, leveled the tripod, and began to shot a series of eight (8) shots...
