Anti communists will look at a country where the USA bombed farms, fields, dams, and forests and then blame the ethereal idea of “communism” for people not having enough food. As opposed to, you know, centuries of colonialism, wealth extraction, and dirty war by industrialized nations with advanced weaponry. If communism is such an abject failure, then why does the United States have to pull all the stops in order to sabotage socialist economies and countries? If Marxism is such a patently incorrect view of the world, then why did the wealthy USA need to drop Agent Orange on poor, colonized Vietnam? Why did 14 countries need to invade the Soviet Union during WW1, just because they signed a separate peace? Why did Nixon need to “make the Chilean economy scream” if socialism would have failed on its own? Why did Ronald Reagan have to invade tiny Grenada and massacre hundreds of thousands? Why create anti-red death squads in Indonesia, in South Korea, in South Vietnam, in Taiwan, and across the Americas, which killed millions of people, if it’s such a non-factor? Why censor any and all Marxist critiques of capitalism for DECADES if they’re patently false? Surely if capitalism is so objectively wonderful, people will turn to it instead of communism. But they didn’t. Millions of poor and colonized people resisted capitalism, because capitalism meant colonialism, meant war on them, meant foreign corporations coming in to extract their resources, exploit their people, butcher them, and use their lands as a jumping off point for larger invasions and nuclear storage. The United States stored over 900 nuclear weapons on the Korean peninsula in 1958. They wanted to nuke the Manchurian border during the Korean War. The Soviets, on the other hand, never stored atomic weapons in the DPRK. There is no equivalency. Capitalism is the most aggressive and brutal economic system this world has ever seen. To this day military planners in the US are comfortable murdering millions of Koreans just so they can say they “won.”
Even today, millions of the poorest people in the world are using communist theory to resist Nestle, to resist US imperialism, and to fill the gaps the government leaves during the COVID crisis. Finally, if capitalism is so good at allocating resources, then why didn’t the privatized healthcare of the USA stop COVID? Why, in the wealthiest and most medically advanced nation in the world, are there over 600,000 corpses in the fucking ground, while socialist countries have managed to keep a lid on their case numbers+deaths with less resources? Because only rich people have the luxury of healthcare access. Healthcare is rationed here, but it’s rationed by income as opposed to need. If capitalism is so peaceful, then why does every town of every state in the Union have a dark history of massacres, brutal suppression, and murder of anyone from nonwhite people to union organizers? A white WW1 veteran was lynched to death in the town I grew up in for being part of the IWW, and the town I moved to literally had a pogrom of South Asian workers that the Sheriff completely ignored. There is a mass grave not far from the stolen land I’m living on, which was unmarked for years because none of the liberals here gave a shit for decades. There are mass graves all over this country, but please, please tell me how peaceful Exxon-Mobil and Halliburton are.
