i hate that when you try and look up shit for writing purposes it starts linking suicide hotlines and addiction advice articles like bro i just wanna know the information im not killing myself i promise. now tell me what i wanna know
I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon
You all need to understand that autonomy and especially bodily autonomy NEEDS to include being allowed to do things that are bad for you. True bodily autonomy includes being allowed to do things that are risky, drugs, cosmetic procedures and the like. Bodily autonomy needs to include being allowed to get high or smoke or get a BBL. The important part is education about the risks
“scientists don’t want you know” is a phrase that always cracks me up because if you actually meet a scientist they will be shaking and crying like an overstimulated chihuahua with the need to let you know
Just a heartbreaking reminder that Smoke follows through on his promises too.
When Annie makes Smoke promise to free her before she turns, he looks down at the thrown bones—unsure of what they mean—and asks, “What you mean, free you?”—flinching when Annie takes the stake from him and presses it to her chest, right over her heart.
Although her fate is already sealed—and she’s made peace with the thought of joining their daughter on the other side—Smoke, ever the protector, still assures her: “I’m going to make sure you get home safe.”
And Smoke does. He stakes her after she’s bitten by Stack—keeping his word by not letting her turn, and making sure she gets home safe. Not to the home they once shared, but home to the ancestors—home to their daughter.
Let’s not forget that when Annie reminds Smoke of their promise—he doesn’t hesitate, he doesn’t question her, he doesn’t ask if she’s sure. He just tells her that he loves her. She doesn’t have to pull those words out of him this time—he gives them freely. And in doing so, he frees them both.
It’s admirable that even though it breaks his heart, Smoke loves, trusts, and respects Annie so deeply that he chooses to honor her final wish.
I pray that we’re all blessed enough to find a love unselfish enough to follow through—even when the asks are hard.
For a city to be walkable. It must also be sittable.
#every time I read this phrase the same thing happens#I read it as shittable and go wait that can't be right#oh right they were talking about public benches that makes more sense#but public bathrooms available without fees should also be a thing tho#cities should definitely be shittable#it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME
it must also be shittable
Need this to be me soon (I will never come out to my family for as long as they are alive)
"why do you like this trait in female characters but not in male characters" because gender changes the dynamic
TRUE!!! thats right
theres this thing a lot of white people do (and i myself have been guilty of) where we wanna be in on the jokes about white people, but also wanna preemptively excuse our mistakes, so we try to be cute about it like "omg im soooo white and stupid. white people suck and i am the worst one. i was raised in the suburbs ive never seen a melanin in my life. im so clueless let me tell you all the crazy things i used to believe-" and its like stop stop stop it nobody wants to hear this. its not cute its cringe. please. kill the instinct to turn your ignorance into an endearing character flaw. it doesnt work that way.
the ability to grow up clueless about bigotry is in itself a privilege. and its good youre learning now but loudly telling people about the fact you were afforded the chance to look away for so much of your life is like. not really fun to hear. basically.
not to be dramatic, but I would rally all of the Maroons in the Caribbean for Megan
There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.
The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.
The hospital says some limits on helipad access add pressure when children need lifesaving care.
Apparently this has been going on for decades and is only getting traction because a pilot complained on Twitter.
I do think "literally zero evidence indicates that gatekeeping medical transition does anything to prevent regret, but the harm done by gatekeeping is extensively documented" is a much stronger argument than "regret isn't real" cause there's always going to be some anecdote that puts you in a weak-looking rhetorical position for the latter, but the former is pretty unassailable.

The infection, caused by the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes type VII (TMvii), spreads through intimate contact and has predominantly been seen among men who have sex with men. It causes painful, coin-sized rashes on the arms, buttocks, trunk, legs, and genitals. While infections can be treated with oral antifungal medications, treatment can take several weeks, making fast detection of the uncommon infection critical.
“TMvii can resemble other skin conditions or sexually transmitted infections, so proper evaluation is important,” says Tom Carpino, Ph.D., the Hock postdoctoral research fellow at DGHI, who has studied the public health challenges of emerging STIs such as mpox. “The lack of awareness among the highest risk individuals and communities, combined with the lack of wide-scale testing and reporting from clinics, are ingredients for a very serious epidemic to go under the radar.”
