Would you be willing to fill out that character form that you were doing awhile back for Sky and Dave?
Gender: I think she would grow up Cis. But I did some research on this indigenous concept called "Two-spirit". Someone who has both masculine and feminine qualities. And I think that'd be an interesting direction to take her character as she gets older.
A ship I have with said character:
In most introductory Total Drama seasons, the couples that are formed usually have a happy ending. Sure they might breakup in later seasons. But it usually starts off with a happy ending.
Seeing Sky and Dave's relationship deteriorate throughout the season was fascinating to me. And I think the concept of a couple that's always doomed to fail is something that could be fun to write.
One thing I did think of recently when watching a youtuber rank TD couples. He got around to SkyxDave and explained he understood why Dave liked Sky. But he had no idea why Sky liked Dave back and felt like she was out of his league.
While you could argue his personality is atrocious. The show never really implies or states that Dave is ugly. Plus I feel like as a germaphobe neat-freak, he 's probably well-groomed and dressed.
So I can see the initial attraction Sky had for him.
Another Sky ship I see brought up is Sky x Lightning. I've read a few fics about it, and I have mixed feelings.
One of the major concepts for this ship is that Lightning is a wholesome himbo bf while Dave seethes in the corner. And look, you read my Lightning post. You know I love the guy.
But I don't think his narcissism and ego would translate well to being a good boyfriend. Sure, he might be better than Dave, but that's a pretty low bar.
I could see Sky and Lightning having a short term relationship but I don't think they'd ride off into the sunset together.
BROTP: I don't even think these two would be friends. But Sky putting up with Sugar's bullshit in that one episode was kinda funny.
NOTP: I don't even really dislike this ship. But I figured I might as well put something here.
A few days ago in a TD discord server we were discussing ships. And deadass someone said they only like SkyxElla because they dislike Dave.
Me personally, I need a ship dynamic, reasoning. Give me a reason to care about these two characters being together.
If your ship is born out of petty spite, I just personally find it lame. Reminds me of Gwortney shippers who only ship it to crap on Duncan. (Not me tho, I'm built different.)
Random Headcannon: I just did a whole post dedicated to Sky headcannons so just go read that, lol.
General Opinion: Sky is often put in a box next to Zoey and Priya as the "Basic Finalist Girls". Out of the three, I would argue Sky is the most consistent. She doesn't have the same highs that Zoey and Priya do. But she doesn't have a moment that's as low as them either.
One could argue she's a bit boring. However I feel like Sky being relatively plain helps her stand out in a cast filled with freaks and weirdos.
As mentioned before, I like her plot with Dave. Her interactions with Sugar. But I'll use this last part to talk about an aspect of Sky I found interesting.
Sky is shown to be an athlete who wants to play fair and follow the rules. However in the finale, you see some underhanded tactics from her. Where she kisses Dave and gives him empty promises to get what she wants.
And wow, I really wish they did more with this concept as I think it'd be interesting. You could have a moment where Sky's hypocrisy is called out. You could have Sky question whether playing with Dave's feelings is the right thing to do.
Sounding a bit like a potential man meme here but my point is they had some interesting ideas for Sky in the finale and I wish it was spread out more throughout the season.
A ship I have with said character: I just explained my interest in Skave so go scroll up.
Now if you want a Dave ship that's a bit more positive. Then I would suggest DavexElla. While Dave is a bit weirded out by her. He doesn't treat her as harsh as he does with Leonard. Plus he's a pessimist and she's an optimist. Tons of stuff to do with that. And I feel like after the PI finale, Ella would be the only one willing to talk to Dave for a while.
Positive happy ships aren't your thing? Then look no further than the toxic dumpster fire known as DavexAmy. A clingy possessive bf x an abusive gf would result in the worst relationship known to man. These two would make each other miserable. And at the end of the day, isn't that what the TD fandom wants for these two characters?
Also I read a DavexScarlett fic and I found it enjoyable.
BROTP: By all accounts Dave and Shawn shouldn't be friends. He's a paranoid doomsday prepper who wants to isolate himself from the world. Dave's a judgmental germaphobe. The mere smell of Shawn should send Dave into a blind rage.
But the fact these two are cordial with each other and hang out is interesting. Despite not having much in common they end up becoming pretty close.
Random Headcannon: Dave often gets coddled by his mom, whose a pediatrician. His father blames her for Dave growing up to be soft.
Also he 100% goes to private school, his fit tells me everything I need to know.
General Opinion: I've stood pretty firm on Dave being my favorite Pahkitew character since the first time I watched the season.
They took the usual TD straight man trope that many fans were used to and pulled an UNO reverse card. For a season that often gets called lazy, I feel like this concept was ambitious.
I italicized ambitious because I think the landing was a bit rough. They definitely dumbed him down in the finale to the point that Sky literally mentions it in a confessional. However, I think Dave going off the deep end makes up for his lackluster start.
I'll just talk about it here but oh my goddd everytime I see a TD future au or TD postcannon headcannons and someone says Dave grows up to be an Andrew Tate worshipping incel I roll my eyes. You guys don't get Dave like I do.
I genuinely want to see a conclusion for this character and it sucks we'll never get it. But that's what the power of fanfiction is for.
