Aoi and Yasuhiro kept trying to convince Byakuya to buy a periwinkle curtain but he kept on insisting that the olive curtain matched the table he bought recently, Makoto got tangled in a bunch of fabrics and was begging Kyoko to help him but she was just observing him and laughing at his bad luck, and Toko I think was sitting down and calmly looking at nice curtain shades on her own.

It was all happening against the backdrop of the destroyed city with red skies and broken everything btw. I woke up and felt very wholesome :)

i personally think one aspect of togiri that appeals to me the most is how byakuya essentially views kyoko as an equal to him and the (gesture) inherent sense of trust brought up by that feeling. i like to imagine how it manifests in the little things ie byakuya being generally picky but would be more willing to try things if kyoko recommends it. commoner sweets? “if you insist… but only one piece.” cheap coffee? “it can’t be that good, but sure, if you insist.” learning how to cook? he would stare at her like she’s grown a second head at first but the concept of Kirigiri Knowing Things I Don’t annoys him and so.

i’ve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.

as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.”

small talk isn’t to get to know a person. it’s just a greeting to affirm you’re buddies in the universe.

i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.

a lot of people who commit acts of csa a) arent pedophiles PER SE in that they don't fit the criteria to be diagnosed with pedophilia as a paraphilic disorder. yes there are definetley a fair amount of offenders who are attracted to their victims in that sense, but there are ALSO a fair amount of offenders whose crimes are OPPURTUNISTIC in nature. sexual violence is a sexual extension of violence, not a violent extension of sex, after all (which i also. got from a post. gdi)

also i feel like the existence of incels proves something extremely clear: you can absolutely want to fuck a group of people-- especially a group you have power over-- while also vehemently hating them. haiji being a pedophile who hates kids isn't some Insane Hypocritical Logic (or a sign of. bad writing???) like. he sees children as objects and property of adults; which is honestly the societally acceptable way to view children for the most part. their parents have complete dominion over them, they have no legal rights to resist this, and institutions like the police and even cps don't ACTUALLY exist to help the child, they exist to maintain a status quo. see: poor families of color having their children taken from them due to poverty, while rich families especially rich white families can abuse their children with impunity and the cops/cps will never EVER believe the child. ask me how i fucking know, i dare you.

in many respects haiji's view on children is the societal norm. they are property he can do what he wishes with, and if they resist in any way, they're ungrateful brats and violence MUST be enacted upon them in order to keep them in line. of course the details of this resistance and retalitory violence is taken to extremes because well, it's danganronpa (and of course, extremes help to center a narrative theme,) but the core concept is something that's pretty observable in our regular society. it's just that haiji ALSO takes it one step furthur insofar as seeing children as sexual property as well, which despite being a line out of nowhere, does serve to highlight the inherent flaws of this possessive and violent worldview, which works really well in that said possessive worldview is THE BASIS OF THE GAME'S PLOT VIS A VIS THE WARRIORS OF HOPE

like come on. violence and especially sexual violence and especially sexual violence against children is a) complicated and b) often NOT driven by a LIKING for the victim, rather an urge to control them and have power over them. and yes i KNOW i KNOWWW the "lol how is he a pedo and hates kids" posts are Funny Joakes but theyre jokes rooted in a fundamental misunderstanding of csa and sexual abuse in general, so forgive me if i dont exactly think its funny
