Reblog if youâre part of a hostile nation thatâs declared war on Australia
Oh my god though guys you donât know the best thing! Â The best thing is: heâs right.
The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands is a micronation near Australia. Â This is their flag:
The Gay Kingdom (as it is colloquially known) was founded in 2004 in protest against Australiaâs legal stance against same-sex marriage.
Here are some of their stamps:
They are currently ruled by Emperor Dale I, and their currency is the Pink Dollar.
And, indeed - they declared war on Australia for not recognizing same-sex marriages performed outside the country. Â (Second link.)
Youâre telling me there has been a Gay Island this ENTIRE TIME and Iâm only just finding out about it????
WHAT
okay, but not enough people know the details on this. people at pride were upset about gay rights in australia. so they decided to sail 200 miles into the coral sea just âcause and put a rainbow flag on a fucking empty island out of spite. and iâm talking empty. no inhabitants. zero. it was a flat piece of land with a bit of dry grass. now it has a camp site and a post office.Â
they have a declaration of independence that talks a bit about gay rights and then just flat out copies the âlife liberty and the pursuit of happinessâ part from the american declaration of independence. and hereâs the best part: the founding group actually elected their emperor. he was originally going to be called the âadministratorâ of a republic. their website, however, says that âupon legal advice, his title was changed to that of Sovereign on the grounds that under Australian law a defacto prince trying to claim his crown cannot be charged with treasonâ. so they made it a kingdom and he now claims to be a descendent of edward ii.
everything about this is glorious and everyone should know about it.

Not one of you mentioned that the anthem for this nation is I Am What I Am by Gloria Gaynor. Not. One. Of. You.
A very good micronation. Very good.
I would trust a power bottomâs asshole over a straight manâs hand any day

Woodstock says a lot about the Baby Boomer generation.
In 1969, 300,000+ young people showed up to the Woodstock music festival. The land being utilized was owned by a farmer. Drugs and inappropriate behavior were rampant, we've all seen the notorious photos of the festival goers skinny dipping and walking around naked. ODs and other medical issues were so rampant that the resources of the local emergency services were totally depleted. The National Guard was almost sent in. "Freak out tents" were set up for people on bad trips to be kept away from others. Hygiene was so poor that it was dubbed a crisis. Boomer-produced media portrays these events as cute, funny things done by well meaning young people just having a good time.
On the third day of the festival, the food ran out. Another major crisis was averted when food was charitably provided by locals in the nearby small town, out of their own pantries. The locals received nothing in return for this. Boomer-produced media portrays this as an example of a community "coming together" and "sharing", some even use Woodstock as evidence that socialism works, referring to Woodstock as a temporary self sustaining country.
After the festival was over, the farmer's fields were completely destroyed and covered in a sea of trash. A rainstorm the previous day has destroyed many young boomers' belongings, and they had responded by leaving the destroyed items on the field while they went off to live the rest of their lives, reminiscing about the love, peace, and community they had experienced at Woodstock for decades to come.
Want to make them mad? Mention Altamont.
I had to look this up, and Altamont was a free rock concert in California in December 1969 looking to copy Woodstock on the West Coast.
It ended with a young man stabbed to death during a fight only feet from the act performing on stage. Meredith Hunter was 18 when he was killed in the middle of a music festival. Like wtf
The Maysles Brothers made a really excellent documentary on the Rolling Stones and Altamont. They actually recorded the stabbing of Meredith Hunter, though they didnât realize it until they looked at the footage later. I highly recommend it if youâre interested in some of the culture surrounding this type of event.Â

when yr adhd does the intense Anger thing n u gotta remind yr brain that u dont wanna throw yr phone full force at a wall
gentle reminder to myself and those it may concern that âobsess over it silently, completely frozen while you just fume for six hoursâ is also not a healthy solution
what do I do then?
in the words of one JJ Bittenbinder, throw yourself off your rhythm!
anxiety and anger are extremely persistent in ADHD because we fixate on that input and devote all our runtime to trying to âfixâ it when in reality the only way to fix it is to leave it alone. considering we are diagnosed with Chronic Cannot Leave It Alone Disease, that is Difficult.
when youâre outside one of these loops, take inventory of all the things you do that suck you into devoting all your attention to them. when i was a kid, the way i avoided asthma attacks was i played video games while taking my meds, so i wouldnât be fixating on the anxiety and making the asthma worse. nowadays, i avoid anger spirals by also playing video games (in my experience turn-based strategy is a hyperfocus superhighway so i use those) so iâm forced to divert resources to do this other thing.
jokeâs on you, impotent fury, you canât kidnap my brain if my brain is somewhere else entirely
STREET SMARTS
Me, at my brain trying to suck me into a spiral of self destructive rage:
thatâs some damn tea
If extending a right to all people reduces your rights in any way? That means that right has been dependent on the oppression of someone else.
It means youâve been profiting from the subjugation of others in some way. Are you good with that?
Wow this tea is SCALDING
