❔ i recommend reading this fic while you are also reading suneater, specifically after chapter 37 and before chapter 60. 

it is set in the March preceding Jason’s first year of college, so chronologically it would happen before suneater chapter 1. however, it’s from Kon’s POV, so it fits most appropriately between the two sections of Suneater that he narrates (chapters 35-36, which feature how Jason & Kon first hooked up, and chapters 60-64, which feature the August mini-arc). (if you’re not into jaytim/jaytimkon or you don’t want to read a behemoth 500k fic, you can also just read guardrail/life vest as a stand alone.)

Moonraker 🌙

Moonraker is the sequel to Suneater and will be similarly huge. I have many parts of it written but it is currently not posted in any capacity.

When reading fanfic keep in mind that for professional literature: 

Short story: under 7,500

Novelette: between 7,500 and 17,500

Novella: between 17,500 and 40,000

Novel: over 40,000

Fics over 40k are literally a novel written and shared for free.  If you have written a 40k+ fic, you have literally written a novel.

i got anna karenina out from the library this week bc it’s one of the books i started and never finished in high school and i feel that it haunts me still. i think in word counts lately instead of page count and it was very disconcerting to look up the word count. my unfinished fic is longer than this book.
