I want a reimagining of Hamlet that is completely faithful to the original except that Hamlet is replaced with Craig Middlebrooks from Parks and Rec.
this is my friend Horatio and HE DROVE ME HERE.
Is⦠is this not basically what Hamlet is like?
@ofgeography
QUEEN GERTRUDE Alas, heās mad!
HAMLET
OSRIC You are not ignorant of what excellence Laertes isā
HAMLET
GHOST Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder.
HAMLET Murder!
GHOST Murder most foul, as in the best it is; But this most foul, strange and unnatural.
HAMLET Haste me to knowāt, that I, with wings as swift As meditation or the thoughts of love, May sweep to my revenge.
Ghost I find thee apt; And duller shouldst thou be than the fat weed That roots itself in ease on Lethe wharf, Wouldst thou not stir in this. Now, Hamlet, hear: āTis given out that, sleeping in my orchard, A serpent stung me; so the whole ear of Denmark Is by a forged process of my death Rankly abused: but know, thou noble youth, The serpent that did sting thy fatherās life Now wears his crown.
HAMLET
@ anyone who tries to tell you theatre is easy
Iāve watched this like 5 times. God bless you kids backstage.Ā
Literally what I do for a living. So stressful, but so rewarding!
Getting friends in to musicals is hard because when they ask what itās about you have to be like ā15 year olds having sexā or āa plant from outer space that takes over the worldā or āteenagers killing people for funā or āAlexander Hamiltonā
ā7 minorities deal with crushing poverty and the looming specter of death by being a dick to their landlordā
āSesame Street, but like⦠for adultsā
āThis one time in the 1830s a bunch of college students decided to fight the entire French government andā¦it didnāt go very well.ā

How are these people literally so dumb to be apart of this
America, everyone
Iām gonna be that one person but THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS WAS SUCH A GREAT SAD MOVIE
who on earth coined the stereotype that girls are obsessed with changing clothes iāve been wearing the same t shirt and pajama pants for two days now and the same bra for like three
OOH OOH I KNOW THIS ONE! so in the elizabethan era queen elizabeth couldnāt appear like she was having That Time of the Month in front of the male members of her court, and you bet your ass if she had to remain in the public eye while she was bleeding from the snatch then the rest of the female courtiers did too. because they didnāt have handy dandy tampons back in the day, they would basically shove a rag down there and inevitably bleed onto the inner layers of their clothes. she what did they do? changed clothes. about eight times a day to be precise, and they did that all month long, so none of the delicate male constitutions would be offended by unseen yet implied bloody lady parts. this is part of why fashion was such a huuuuuge cultural item (and the secondhand clothing industry was such a huge part of society) because they had to appear like they were just doing it out of vanity/showing off their wealth. this became pretty much the standard mode of behavior for ladies who had to be out and about during shark week, right up until some nurses realized that the specialized gauze pads they used to plug up bullet wounds would work great for other such bleeding holes.
so yeah if you were wondering why dudes think women change their clothes a lot its because they donāt understand periods.
It always comes down to men not being able to handle periods
Oh god I need to share this with the world
No words neeeded
if u feel like u dont know what ur doing w ur life just remember thatĀ venus spins backwards and we dont even fuckin know why. just do whatever you wanna honestly
Homecoming
High schools in the south of the United States, especially in Texas, often have a tradition of the girls wearing āmumsā and boys wearing āgartersā to the Homecoming football game. Mums usually consist of artificial Chrysanthemum flowers (originally real Chrysanthemums were used) surrounded by decorated floor-length ribbon and little trinkets. The tradition is that the boys create a personalized mum in their school colors, white and silver for seniors, for their date. Girls make garters for their date which are similar to mums but shorter and worn on the guyās arm rather than around their neck like mums. The size of the mums and garters tend to grow along with the grade the person that is receiving the mum is in. Around the 1980s, mums were usually about a maximum of three Chrysanthemum flowers and a few ribbons and only worn by the Homecoming Court/Homecoming Prince and/or Princess but as the years have gone by, the size and expectations of mums have increased and have gotten more elaborate and are worn by almost all of the students. Depending on the school, mums can get quite competitive, expensive, and drastically bigger than they previously were intended to be. New items are also placed on mums than there previously were like LED lights, bubble containers, cow bells, feather boas, stuffed animals of all sizes, and even more. They now sometimes act like scrapbooks made of ribbon and even contain passages and photos of the mum/garter-receiver and their date. The detail, size, and price usually varies depending on the school, town, and couple. The tradition is to make the mum and garter after the couple is asked to Homecoming and exchange the night of the Homecoming game and wear it throughout tailgating and the game. Couples often take group pictures with their mums and garters the night of or before the night of the Homecoming Game to showcase them.

Yeah, wintry. Iāve literally never seen these before. They are⦠intense? Lol
OMG, are you telling me the rest of the US isnāt doing this???Ā
weāre telling you that this is NOT happening in the rest of the US. And some of us are kinda side-eyeing you, in a light-hearted loving way, for hanging a craft storeās worth of ribbon off yāalls necks.
You know, Iāve read about the mums and garters practice, but this is the first time Iāve actually seen it. What the hell are all y'all doing?
And those arenāt even the big ones.
They get big.
like, BIG. Big enough to hide their entire bodies.
And some of the bodies of anyone standing next to them.
Also, notice the stuffed horse and mums on that guyās arm. Thatās a Texas homecoming garter. But the boys tend to keep them fairly small.
But some guys and girls just say to hell with keeping it tasteful.
Because itās fun and theyāre kids and why the hell notĀ
because
itās fucking
TEXAS
I had no idea this didnāt happen anywhere else I always hated these things
Yāknow, looking through this thread I kept thinking to myselfĀ āGoddamit Texas do you have to be over-the-top huge with EVERYTHING?ā and being surprised that none of them were in the stateās shape. And then I scrolled to the bottom and cracked up
Texas yaāll crazy as hell XD
iāve lived all 32 years of my life in the US and this is the first time iāve ever seen or heard of anything likeĀ this.
