This is going to sound really odd, but I genuinely think some fans don't actually understand the boys' sense of humour. Classic british humour is very dark, and has a lot of dry sarcasm involved (so dry in fact, that it manifests as pretty much, you say a terrible thing, and because it's terrible, people correctly assume that you don't actually mean it and you're playing on the stereotype of those who do). It's a very very specific cultural thing, but basically no one is safe from being made fun of, and its automatically understood that, like all of british communication, you don't actually mean anything you say.

It seems to me that a lot of people, especially on tumblr, think that the boys are accidentally being offensive, when they aren't, they are actually doing it on purpose because that's the joke.

I've worded this horribly, so please don't feel bothered about posting it, but yeah. I wish more people would automatically assume the best in people rather than the worst. I'm a bit sick of all the parasocial negativity and drama over 4 guys literally just doing comedy (ironic given this confession).
