I really think more people should take inspiration from "American Gods" when writing Billy Batson fanfiction, there is just so much world-building to borrow from

For those who don't know, American Gods is an urban fantasy books/TV show/graphic novel series with some extremely interesting world-building. The story follows the character Shadow Moon as he is dragged into the world of gods to help Odin enlist people for a war between the gods of old and the gods of the modern age—gods of television, technology, credit cards, and more

It explores so many interesting ideas such as:

Abandoned gods

Gods being forced to conform and adapt to the modern era to survive—like Ostera, the original goddess of Easter, who had no choice but to share it with Jesus if she wanted to stay relevant

How gods and belief systems were brought to America by emigrants and travelers, only to be abandoned in unfamiliar lands when those travelers died out

The TV show discusses how there are actually dozens of different versions of Jesus running around because he needs to be a thousand different things for a million different people

The idea that gods and humans are the chicken and the egg—humans dreamed up the gods so that the gods would turn around dream up humans

That each era has a new wave of modern gods that come and go, like the gods of railroads and coal

Just imagine the possibilities of Billy living in a world like this— interacting with the modern gods, helping the old gods sustain themselves, talking to Jesus, having Easter with Eostra, or a billion other scenarios that would be fascinating to see and explored

I really hope someone writes about this

Aftermath of Billy Batfam:

I like "Billy joins the Bat Family" fics. I think they can be fun and interesting, but I have seen hardly anyone ask the question: what happens after?

Basically, every fic I've seen ends with the idea that Billy will live in the manor and they will be a happy, chaotic family, but it can't realistically be that easy. Billy is the champion of magic, magic with a capital M, with the power of gods living in a house full of people who are hardwired for logic and deductive reasoning, several of whom have stated they hate magic. It'd be insane if they didn't clash eventually, What would the new normal be?

There are so many unexplored implications. Does Lady Gotham approve of Billy's presents? Do the gods approve? How openly would Billy use magic around the house? Are there rules? How would Billy handle the magic community/ecosystem of Gotham? Do supernatural beings start frequenting the manor now that the champion lives there? Would the Bats get irritated by having gods and impossible things coming and going from their house? Would Billy take their dislike of magic personally? How would Billy being pagan affect holidays? Does magic impact Duke's powers?

I love Billy Batfam fics, I really do, but they always carve out so much of Billy's whimsicalness in order to make him fit into Gotham

Here's a thought: we all know Billy can't be mind controlled or brainwashed however that doesn't mean he can't be controlled at all

Say a demon or supernatural entity was looking for a host, who better to contain their vast power than someone who already holds the power of 6 gods but the problem is that he can't be controlled or corrupted

Solution?

There's no need to control the mind when you can just control the body

Take his soul or his consciousness or whatever, put it in a little box and lock it up tight. Now you've got a brand new body with no fight for control. Yes the evil horror will probably be stuck as a grade schooler rather than the powerhouse seeing as how billy can't put up as much of a fight but that grade schooler still has a hell of a lotta magic and wearing a child will make the other heroes hesitate

I wanna see a fic where billy is basically adopted by the magic community, and they become the village that raised the child. zatanna is like a big sister, teaching him life stuff and basics of magic, and self-care. swamp things shows him how to grow plants and wildlife survival while madam Xanadu shows him tarot readings, spotting frauds, and money strategies. Doctor Fate couldn't care less but Kent Nelson would fondly remember Khalid when he was younger. Jason blood explains curses, demons and the older ways to use magic plus likes having him around because his divine magic makes etrigan manageable

Billy would have issues with constantine, the street child would not like a chain-smoking alcoholic with a bad attitude.

Is it just me does it feel like some people have a hard time writing Captain marvel and Batman?

When people have a Billy and Bruce dynamic it's usually "Batman doesn't know enough about captain marvel and it irritates him while Billy is just trying to get by" and that's fine, it can be pretty interesting and fun to see

However

Some writers seem to want to have their cake and eat it too by having Batman a nosy, stalker-ish, paranoid man who knows everyone's secrets and will use those secrets for plans to take them all out and yet is somehow annoyed and affronted when captain marvel doesn't trust him with information about himself? And it's usually portrayed as Billy's fault for not having faith in his friends and teammates, Like what?

He just comes across as a massive hypocrite and it's almost never brought up in the context of these stories or as a point of conflict

At least give Bruce a begrudging respect for his ability to keep a secret

Why? Is this just a me thing? Why do I always see this in fics like this?

Gilded cage/damsel Billy: Billy has been kidnapped by a fae/mage/demon/whatever, who keeps him as their own personal little living magical battery, safely locked away. They provide him with everything—from books, toys, sweets, and jewels to expensive clothes, a high-end bed, piles of good, warm food—anything and everything to keep him happy, healthy, and most importantly, theirs

Theirs... Why is it cut off?! Friend! Their what 😭😭😭 Is it kinky??? Or am I just dirty-minded????

Welcome My Novelty Food Hobby

I, for whatever reason, have developed a hobby of sorts where I will photograph any and all novelty food products I come across, whether fun interesting or down right weird, allow me to show you me assortment of stuff

Okay so in your video you mentioned not really being too keen on the pairs color palettes BUT! This was pointed out to me and I need to point it out to everybody because it's too much of a coincidence to not be at least somewhat true.

In the original movie poster Dr. Jekyll was associated with reds and oranges while Mr. Hyde was associated with greens and yellows

And remember what the colors of Jackson and Holt

Oh yeah yellow and red

They swapped color palettes!!!

Gen 3 Jackson/Holt Toy Idea

It's kind of obvious Mattel isn’t quite sure what to do with Jackson and Holt, so maybe they should just let kids decide on their own.

Here’s the idea: make one doll with a basic outfit, but include two different sets of clothes and accessories for the two characters. Kids can mix and match the clothes however they like. Plus, instead of buying two different dolls, you just get one!

If you’re wondering how it can be one doll even though Holt is blue, the answer is this: make the doll change color when it’s exposed to sunlight or UV light. That way, the doll would change color, making playtime more fun and exciting. It also encourages kids to go outside if they want to play with Holt.

This idea can fit in the story too, since Jackson and Holt share a closet but have very different styles, they reach a compromise. They could have simple shirts and pants they both share, but then be able to decorate and customize their look however they want.

Now I'm not saying I'm a genius but, Mattel? Take notes.

I've seen a few injustice ideas so I'm throwing my hat into the ring

While under the regime, Billy decides to summon Lois Lane to give Clark closure. He allows her to inhabit his body for a time and to have a heartfelt conversation with clark, but when it's time for her to leave, Clark, consumed by grief, refuses to let her go. With Raven's help, Lois is imprisoned, now trapped in Billy's body, leaving billy powerless to do anything.

This idea could escalate into a dead dove if you wanted too.

Billy Batson Fic Ideas: free to steal

Seriously have them, they're taking up too much brain storage (some are more fleshed out than others)

Gilded cage: Billy has been kidnapped by a fae/mage, who keeps him as their own little living magical battery, safely locked away. They provide him with everything from sweets to toys to extravagant clothes, keeping him happy, healthy, and most importantly, theirs.

Festival day: Every god has a designated festival day to honor and worship them, and Captain Marvel, being the champion of magic, should have one as well. On his birthday, offerings and gifts from both fae and humans are magically sent to him (or his room).

Magic Vs science: Billy learns science through the use of magic. Learning about chemistry? "Oh, it's just like alchemy but with more math." Learning how to code? "Oh, it's similar to writing spells; you instruct it to do this, then that, unless this happens." Home economics? Potion making, and so on.

Welcome to Fawcett (a spoiler for Welcome to Night Vale): the god (?) who claimed Fawcett as their own, witnessed the destruction of their city through nuclear war. In a desperate attempt to save their creation, they tried to remove Fawcett from the rest of the universe. However, in doingso, they fractured ever Fawcett across the multiverse. Now, it is a city that is stuck, it both exists and does not exist everywhere and everywhen

Epic The musical : the gods, with their divine voices, need to use talk in a manner that mortals can both survive and comprehend. This is why they use music and singing as a means of communication. The gods choose to sing through their mouthpiece, talking through Billy to break into song.

I wanna see more lore about the previous champions of magic and how the each had an impact on the magic world like:

One had a very distinctive hat that became so iconic it becomes forever associated with witchs mages and magic users

One either revolutionized or just out right invented magic tools and items

One set the precedent for how to make quality potions and remedies

One wrote more than half of the books still in the rock of eternitys library

One invented modern day spell circles

And so on

Billy Batson as a radio host is an amazing voice actor and uses this talent in the most hilarious and evil way possible

For example-

Highjacking buildings intercom system and telling villains inside in the most happy and chipper commercial announcer voice that if you're an individual that values their appendages please kept your hands and feet to yourself and may your God have mercy on your soul because the 3000 year old cures your about to experience sure as hell WILL NOT

And you know he's going to have a field day with scam calls

I love this so much!

He can say the most wild and terrifying things in that perfectly measured newscaster voice that has people doing a double take if they aren't listening carefully. His cheerful warnings would terrify people (particularly the villains unlucky enough to hear it twice).

Like he is generally responsible and usually uses his talents for good, but sometimes a situation presents itself...

And like once he's a relatively well known radio host, his voice becomes recognizable to the people in Fawcett and him using his voice acting talents takes on a whole new surreal experience for whoever he's messing with because suddenly that friendly boy reporter from the radio is threatening you with ancient curses and violence with the same cadence as when he was told the story of saving a cat from a tree.

I just like to imagine any time one of the Leaguers gets a telemarketer they just hand the phone to billy and let him be a gremlin
