one thing i love about about kathryn janeway is that at least twice a season, she is put through circumstances that would legitimately qualify as a villain origin story if she decided to go off the deep end, but she remains good to the best of her abilities.
this woman routinely goes through situations that has her crew thinking “damn I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision”, and even when she errs, she errs on the side of justice and integrity.
the show directly addresses her depression and guilt from her point of view and other characters (namely Tuvok) address it out loud. she is suffering for the choices she made and makes.
Kathryn Janeway is, perhaps, one of the best female examples of a hero that embodies “heavy is the head that wears the crown” while actively abhorring/loving that everything is her decision.
she could be a villain if she wanted, and justify it. with the loyalty her crew shows her circa season 6 and 7, they’d probably justify it for her. she chooses at every turn not to be and I admire that so much.

Bones’ posture is lowkey worse but damn they’ll both need a chiropractor 😭

sfa cancellation is absolute bullshit. Im so sorry. Ds9 s1 was utter shite save for emissary and duet (dont lie to urselves lads), thats 20 episodes in 1 season. SFA got 10 to prove itself and was cancelled. Really sad. Doesnt rly matter if you dont fw nutrek, it didnt get the chance it deserved to pick up. I liked it a lot more than SNW.
genuinely quite sad over this. Jaaaaayyyyydeeeeeeen
I couldn’t agree more. All great star trek shows have needed time to grow into their greatness. It’s part of the process. Frankly if you look only at the first 10 episodes I don’t know that any series did better than sfa. Tng didn’t do well in the ratings until the season 3 finale.
The problem isn’t the series, it’s the expectations. 10 episode seasons are not working. Blowing the budget on huge shiny bridges and fancy special effects instead of filler episodes and a writing staff isn’t working. Expecting these series to be immediate hits is not working.
Star trek is a franchise because decades later people are still rewatching episodes over and over again. It takes time to make content so good that people keep coming back, and you won’t achieve that goal in a couple of months of airing any 10 episodes no matter how good they are for fucks sake. Grow up, paramount.

they eat so much in enterprise. like i think food is the most thematically important in ds9 (sisko’s restaurant, bashir & garak’s lunches) but i swear they’re always eating on enterprise it’s like 24/7

i love the thing modern trek has been doing with introducing and exploring our main guys and then when the show has found its footing a vulcan character gets introduced to seamlessly join the by then tight-knit group of friends. and the vulcan is always a wonderful addition. vulcans are awesome and new trek knows this, i appreciate that
