It feels like a sin to discover the beauty and influence of good literature on your own only to have it butchered in English class until you hate it.

Shakespeare’s plays were never meant to be read and over analyzed like this! They were meant to be performed! It would benefit us a whole lot more if we just went on a field trip to watch it be performed live.

Not to mention when they leave out key aspects of the author’s life. (I.E. Oscar Wilde being gay)

Now, these things are none of the fault of the teachers, but rather the district itself and the school board that would have a witch hunt if they dared to stray from the “norm.”

I especially hate how districts are banning certain books like Farenheit 451.
