A Heartstopper and Heated Rivalry Comparison
It's not the comparison you think it is but moreso how I view it. These last 15 years or so of watching queer media I would watch any and everything and try to champion it even if sometimes it was not good why because it was representation. Then there was one story that I truly connected to that changed my whole perspective on how I consume queer media. At the point I don't care if it's popular and the majority love it if I don't believe in it I'm not going to champion it even though I'm grateful for the representation.
Here's the comparison part of my post. I went into both of these shows not having read the books but some things being spoiled because some cant help themselves but it still doesn't take away from my experience watching. The similarities for me is this the first season is like the build up. Yes we get all the good and also the stumbles and all the fluff that I absolutely love but for me because I'm not an overly emotional person I didn't really cry but I did get teary eyed at the emotional moments and that's a good thing from my perspective because that means I'm invested into whether story is going.
So going into a season 2 of the show I'm expecting to love it even more because it will go into the more lived experiences and truly cement what their relationship truly is and will probably feel similar to how felt with Heartstopper season 2 where it was to the point that I was crying at things that I wasn't expecting to and when I mean crying I was literally bawling my eyes out to the point I couldn't see. Yes I know some people connected on different things and I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone's perspective I just find it brilliant all the different perspectives happening and this is just mine and what trajectory I see as a viewer.
Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley "Lorraine" Interview
In my personal opinion there needs to be more of this instead of the drama they always seem to put them in. I live for their simple moments and also their deeper conversations. Yes I appreciate all the other things but the emotional stuff is what draws me in more.
