So...some years ago I was in a lecture with someone from a center that deals with cocsa perpetraitors.

I was told that in 97% of the cases it turns out that the child was being SAed or groomed with porn by an adult or teen in their life.

There were a few cases where they never found out what lead to the abuse from the child, but that they had suspicions in those cases as well, just not proof.

AoT depicts a group of people being unjustly killed and discriminated against for who they are. Its “problematic” because the show doesnt explicitly state “dis is bad” but rather leaves that to the audience to empathize and decide for themselves.

People hate it because AoT doesn’t hand-hold its audience like its Dora the Explorer saying “Badguy no Badguying!” whenever anyone in the show does something shitty and obviously flawed, but if you have all of two brain cells to rub together its pretty blatantly obvious when the show is giving you something you shouldn’t be okay with, just in nuance (which is more realistic to real life wrongs than black and white good/bad guy storytelling), which most fuckheads who criticize the show are incapable of.

Even then, there are times when certain characters pretty explicitly take a stance on morals in in-your-face ways. Pointing to season 3 here especially and the whole “I don’t know what the right thing is any more, but I know your friend is alive because you chose to kill” speech.

The show isn’t meant to have clear-cut yes/no answers and that’s just too complicated for some people.

Angela Simpson lured a disabled man, Terry Neely, into her apartment where she tortured him for 3 days and eventually killed him. 

This was back in 2012, but I’d found an interview of her on facebook. 

She’d killed Neely because she thought he was a snitch for the police, which he wasn’t. Supposedly, he had bragged about being a snitch. The day she was sentenced, Simpson said she would have preferred to have kept Neely alive and tortured him for a week.

Watkiss went on to ask Simpson how she felt about spending the rest of her life in prison.

“You know I’ve got  a lot of family in prison … I’m OK with that,” she answered. “I’m OK with that. I’ve got many sisters in prison. I can’t wait to see ‘em. It’s really not that much of a punishment to be sentenced to spend my life with my family.”

Simpson explained that she has a history of mental illness going back to when she was just 10 years old, but insisted that she does not want or expect sympathy. She also said she believes she deserved the death penalty but is happy with her sentence.

Some people were laughing about the “welp, sorry if he was” comment. Some people felt sorry for her and said she shouldn’t be in jail, she should be getting help for her mental illness. Stuff like that. There was some compassion for Terry Neely, but not as much as a I felt there should have been. 

It’s crazy when you hearing the specifics of what she did and people focus on the ‘funny’ remark she made and feel for her.
