the default way for things to taste is good. we know this because "tasty" means something tastes good. conversely, from the words "smelly" and "noisy" we can conclude that the default way for things to smell and sound is bad. interestingly there are no corresponding adjectives for the senses of sight and touch. the inescapable conclusion is that the most ordinary object possible is invisible and intangible, produces a hideous cacophony, smells terrible, but tastes delicious. and yet this description matches no object or phenomenon known to science or human experience. so what the fuck
this is what ancient greek philosophy is like
False! “Sightly” is a positive word, so the default way for things to work is good as well.
The true most ordinary object is beautiful, horrible sounding, very smelly, intangible, and delicious.
I still don’t think it matches anything in existence but to truly understand a thing one must know its true nature.
"touchy" is also a word! however it's mostly used for things that aren't objects, like subjects of conversation. it either means "oversensitive and irritable" or "requires careful handling/wording, delicate"
i think the second one works well for our hypothetical object. so we can use that.
therefore, the Default Object is:
beautiful
makes a horrendous sound
smells absolutely awful
is very fragile
tastes delicious
and i still cannot think of anything that matches this
behold, the default object!
this is what ancient greek philosophy is like
I am begging "most men are good, the small percent makes them look bad" proponents to spend ten minutes in an unmoderated male community, especially if porn is allowed in the community. Go where men hang out and listen to them in their rawest.
Fast track to misandry.
Did that. Was the sole lower enlisted female in my unit, living in a tent with a bunch of dudes in Afghanistan.
There were dirty jokes and yelling BILLY MAYS HERE at each other at 3am to be an asshole and wake people up.
The horror? My poor weak female sensibilities I guess...?
op i dare you to look up the percentage of women who willingly enjoy pornography. I also dare you to look up what the most common sexual fantasy for women is.
Literally just fixing yourself some food and then eating it is "unpaid labor", apparently. Feminists put a dollar price on everything.
Also parenting. It's "The hardest job in the world" when women do it and "the bare minimum" when men do it.
You guys love to lie. Who even is the woman on the right?
Laken Riley. I'm not surprised you don't know her, your side did everything possible not to report on her murder because she was killed by an illegal.
Laken Riley was found murdered in a wooded area on the University of Georgia's campus on Feb. 22.
Here's a source on her case, for anyone who wants proof that this isn't a lie.
... Cases like this are why I will never let people convince me that opposing illegal immigration is wrong.
"I don't even know who this second woman is, but I'm sure you're lying." -a logical person
Can you believe there are people so completely ignorant and disgusting like @siryouarebeingmocked and @ironobservationgoatee to say that this is a lie. Talk about pieces of shits that want to protect criminals that rape. They are probably the same kind of deviants and think rape is fun, so they try and make it sound insignificant.
They seemed to take your quote as your actual position, while they were pissing on the poor.
So you know that trope where like people find out about a child sex predator and rally to beat them up or run them out of the neighborhood, only to change their tune once they find out the predator is a woman?
It's in stuff like George Lopez, Shameless, South Park, etc.
I mean:
This is reflected in real life. Female criminals, women who commit the same crime, are treated much more gingerly than men who do the same. This is even reflected in the law and in our crime definitions. It's reflected in government programs for victims.
When I see people post about sterilizing all child predators or killing all rapists/abusers; more likely than not, they only mean the men.
Which makes it feel less about punishing criminals themselves and more like yet another excuse to harm men. Like they get a kick out of it or something.
And I occasionally test this by responding to social media posts about killing all rapists or sodomizing child predators with hot fire pokers by offering a case (and picture) of a female offender, asking if theyre just as fine extending the punishment to women like her. More often than not I get accused of encouraging violence against women.
"We should punish rapists harsher"
You get uncomfortable at the thought of a female criminal getting a slap on the wrist. You arent ready for harsher punishments for abusers/rapists. Youre only ready for even harsher punishments for men.
There was one tumblr post where someone gendered sex offenders, and people asked OP if they included women.
And a bunch of feminists/radfems showed up to claim OP was talking about sex offenders in general and we shouldn't make assumptions even though it's perfectly normal for people to gender "sex offender".
None of them addressed the fact that OP specifically gendered rapists as male.
>The graffiti is crystal clear. And yet you have not once acknowledged that the first grafitti only refers to male rapists. Or at all. >If o
To be fair to South Park, the were very much making the whole 'oh it's a woman not a man' thing being a fucked up reaction, rather than actually being like
South Park itself is satire for this episode, but it's satirizing the actual case of Mary Kay Laterneau.
It was a big case where a teacher raped her student, got a slap on the wrist, then got out of jail to then immediately sleep with (and later marry) the student she groomed.
And a ton of people were making exvuses for her. Mostly that rape isnt rape when women do it or that he must have liked it because (they thought) she was hot.
Either way, we havent strayed too far from that in terms of how we treat female offenders.
I don't recall if it was the same lady above, but I do remember one of the female pedophiles claiming she was an alcoholic and was going to go to rehab, and then everyone just dropped the 'outrage' because apparently drinking too much is an excuse to be a kid toucher..... if the kid toucher is a woman.
It was definitely her. But alcohol was part of her story (even though she continued to see him after the public apology).
What is the point here? That the *mass shooter* didn't look like a nice guy on the day he did a *mass shooting?*
The point of mentioning that his family was killed by Israel before he attacked a synagogue is obviously not to say "he's a poor little uwu he doesn't know any better." It's to say "the reason this guy chose to do evil thing B is because evil thing A happened to him first." It's a relevant explanation of the reason behind his actions, not an excuse (duh).
They changed the headline. Those pics are linked to archives.
>It's a relevant explanation of the reason behind his actions, not an excuse (duh).
Thsoe aren't two different categories.
Also, I don't think the Times profile on him mentions the name of a single person attacked.
Or uses the word "terrorism" at any point.
Or mention his alleged ties to Hezbollah. Maybe CNN scooped them, idk.
I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed…
I’ll go into more detail on Patreon this week
I've already relogged this, but I'd like to appreciate "the existence of magic doesn't remove the rest of the setting". it's such such a succinct way of putting things.
That helmet was designed by Frank Loyd Wright for the cover of Vogue. That helmet drives a Cybertruck. That helmet is teaching me how to apply snatched contours on Tiktok.
It's also just kinda rude? Like, this is a cultural myth, not a random pulp novel. A little bit of respect for the source material ought to be a given.
It's Hollywood. Even before the days when leftists defended the megacorps in the name of "diversity" the odds were always against the idea that anything based on anything else was going to respect the source material, and not just cultural myths either. I know it's got its defenders, and it may have its moments, but was a Judge Dredd movie starring Sylvester Stallone really ever going to be faithful to the source material?
Memes aside, Stallone co wrote Rambo and Rocky, and decided they should edit out most of Rambo's actual lines, I've been told.
He's right though.
I love how not a single one of them has ever cited an actual law for the latter, or acknowledged that cops commonly wear masks to hide their identities, in America and across the world.

Leftist, meet Consequences. I'll give you a night in jail to get acquainted.
"I attacked a law enforcement officer (crime) to stop him from doing his job (also crime), and for some reason (committing a crime while working) I got fired and (breaking the law twice) arrested."
There is truly no demographic more self-centered and stupid than left wing women.
@siryouarebeingmocked Bro how are you even here, don't you know you don't know how to do this?
I still remember the time somebody tried to make "having your documents", "taking time off work" and "going to the DMV" sound like the Odyssey.
The United States, including all states and territories
#we have no business owning any of those islands#or alaska honestly#and fuck it can we just do land back already. the us has proven it isn't fit to exist
They don't want independence though. Where are the mass protests demanding it? If any meaningful amount of people wanted it these regions would be like Catalonia or Kurdistan, but nope. The only people who want them to not be Americans are a bunch of other Americans who're convinced that they know everything.
I don't know who needs to hear this but your brain is lying to you and you don't need to wait until there's a round number on the clock to go the fuck to bed or start that project or eat a meal.
Get up and do it now.
There is a German art group called Pataphysical Institute Basel that I collaborated with on an art festival a few years ago, and one of their things was that they wanted everything done in "Pataphysical time" which in practice meant that nothing should be scheduled to start at exactly on the hour or half past the hour, and instead the start time should be something weird like three minutes past etc.
That was surprisingly helpful and I have since then been on "Pataphysical time" like I don't place special importance on any specific position of the hands of the clock.
"Pataphysical Time" is going to be a fun thing to say to myself when I need to do something instead of getting stuck until a "correct" number.

I think part of the problem of modern storytelling is there has been a shift from character focus to message focus.
It's Doctor Who saying "look the evil alt right podcaster has trapped everyone in a weird heteronormative wish world that's baaaaaad uhb we don't know how to resolve it satisfyingly" vs "Rose dragged along a guy she thought cute and he turned out to be a jerk and used time travel to gain access to future secrets and we see her and the Doctor react to that in a way thar shows us more about their character." It's "the Beatles are here kind of as a backdrop to our drag queen villain isn't that fun woo musical number" vs "let's tell a touching story about Vincent van Gogh's depression and relate that to what our characters are currently going through."
And its not just Doctor Who--it's pervasive. It's "let's tell a character focused story of Anakin Skywalker's fall to the darkness and the love around him that wasn't enough" vs "Star Wars is GAY and look at her BLEED her LIGHTSABER." It's "Here's a 19 year old who lost her parents and has to raise her difficult sister, let's see her motivations and love for her sister" vs "Nani is doing the Right Thing for Herself because going to College is Girlboss!"
And this isn't the first time the focus of storytelling has shifted--before it was character focused, we had concept focus. Doctor Who exploring Roman times or a realm made of stories, where characters carry the plot, but aren't the focus of episodes. Episode IV of star wars was certainly a conceptual idea more than character focused, exploring the world and building it as you go. Old Disney like Snow White explored the concept of retelling a fairytale in animation.
I just think that unfortunately the focus of mainstream stories is not to explore a concept, or interesting characters, but to push a message.
#i get where this post is coming from kinds#but so many conservative dog whistles here
"I get where this post is coming from, but it's using real-world examples of media being obnoxiously pushy with messaging that make me think the author is one of those evil conservatives the media says are always wrong and you should always hate, and that's pretty problematic."
Congratulations, you don't get where this post is coming from.
When conservatives make stories stories like this, everyone rightfully calls out how cringe it is and how it hurts the story (there's a reason "Christian movies" and "Christian rock" have the reputation they do). When liberals do this to stories (in pretty much every major franchise, so there's a lot of examples), you're evil if you point it out... because the messages being shoved into the media tell you so.
