The term trigger(ed) is a valid and extremely useful medical and psychological term. It is used by all forms of mental health professionals.
Neurotypicals have tried to make it "embarassing" or "cringey" to use it, and try to make us ashamed of using accurate and scientific terminology to describe our experiences as mentally ill and developmentally disabled people.
I believe a large part of the reason they do this is to silence us. To try and make us ashamed of describing our experiences. To try and make is hide away our symptoms. To try and silence us.
Don't let them. If the word trigger/triggered describes your experiences and helps you express them, use them! No matter how much they mock it and try to turn it into a meme, we wont let them ruin such a useful (and sometimes life saving!) psychological term.
this is why its depressing to work in a pharmacy.
I was definitely a profit killer when I worked in a pharmacy (which honestly was my favorite job in the entire world, but it was short-lived and nowadays you can’t work at a pharmacy like that, it’s all tied in with corporate retail and no one should ever trust me with a cash register ever). It was not, however, actually a profit killer for the pharmacy, just for the drug companies, so no one cared. These days I do medical billing, which means I actually bill OUT from hospitals so I’m mostly spending my professional time taking money away from insurance companies.
I will now impart all of my profit killing resources onto you, in case you don’t know them. I think most of you know them, now. But just in case you don’t.
THIS IS US-CENTRIC. I’M SORRY.
1. GoodRx - this thing has an app now, so you can look up the best places to get your expensive medicines at the lowest possible prices without insurance on the go, and you no longer have to print coupons because you can just hand over your phone or tablet. Times have changed for the better with GoodRx. Definitely use it before trying to fill your scrip, because it will tell you the best place to go. (You can do that on the website, too.)
2. NeedyMeds - Needymeds is basically the clearinghouse of drug payment assistance. They have their own discount cards, but also connections to many patient assistance programs run by drug companies themselves. They are good assistance programs, too.
3. Ask your county - This is not a link. This is a pro tip. Most county social services will have pharmacy discount programs for people with no and/or shitty pharmaceutical coverage. You can often just find them hanging around at social services offices; you can just pick one up and walk off with it.
4. Ordering online - There are a few safe online pharmacies. I keep a little database in a text file on my computer. Most of them are courtesy of CFS forums, my mother or voidbat, so a lot of that is a hat tip to other people, but if you’re in need of a place to get a drug without a prescription … first I’ll make sure you 100% know what you’re doing for safety reasons and then I’m happy to turn over a link.
5. Healthfinder - A government resource that helps find patient assistance programs in your area. This might also point out the convenient county card thing. RxHope is something a lot of people get pointed to via Healthfinder that’s a good program.
6. Mental Health America - Keeps a list of their best PAPs for psychiatric medications, which can be some of the most expensive and a lot of pharmacy plans don’t cover them at all.
This is so important ppl.
Signal boost the shit out of it!

Good Rx Saved my family a hundred dollars a month while I was getting signed up for CHIP seriously it’s a life savor especially for ridiculously expensive drugs like abilify
Useful info, friends! ;)
Since many of our followers are on medications, I feel like this would be an important resource. -Luna
Also! Some drug companies have patient assistance programs where they send you the drug for FREE if you are uninsured, or if your insurance doesn’t cover that drug.
Do a Google search for “patient assistant programs” + (your med), or search the manufacturers website. Sometimes the info is online; other times you have to call.
Even some of the big name pharma companies have this. It’s certainly not all companies, or all meds, but it is worth a shot.
Before Obamacare, I lost insurance and couldn’t pay for my mood stabilizers (kiiiiinda important to have those when you’re bipolar.) I was on generic Lamictal, but I went to the official Lamictal website, filled out a form with a valid prescription, and they mailed my meds to me every month for free.
If you know anything about bipolar disease, you know that that was a literal life saver. Patient assistance programs ftw!
This is so important given the recent vote to repeal Obamacare. And the cartoon above is so on point They’re literally voting to kill people. Literally.
Some of my meds are no longer going to be partially covered by my ridiculously expensive private insurance. I just used the GoodRX website to look it up, and I can either spend $40 at Target to pay for one of them out of pocket–per month–, or I can get it at Sams Club for $4. No that is not a typo. The drug I need to take every single day to keep my allergies from spiraling out of control (yay auto-immune bullshit) is literally ten times cheaper at Sams Club. Holy shit.
Signal boost for my US buds
IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT MEMBERSHIP CLUBS: COSTCO, SAMS, ETC CANNOT REQUIRE MEMBERSHIP TO USE THEIR PHARMACIES
you can save so much money just by using club pharmacies.
Also, if you take a specialty medication, and your copay it’s STUPIDLY expensive, contact the manufacturer. They drive up there prices because they know insurance will pay it. They actually do want the people who need the meds to have them and will TOTALLY send you cards to get it for free/super cheap if you need it by bypassing your insurance
Hey, if anyone needs a dad today.... I'll be your dad. I can only offer dad jokes and maybe like 5 recipes (unless you're okay with pasta) but I'll still try my best. -Z
The best food related experience We've had in a while. TW for some cursing. Z(Host, very draconic in nature): Hey, does anyone wanna come try this new thing (gator)? Noir: What is it? Is it dragon? Z: ...Sure Noir: hell fuckin' yeah then! Also, children in the system were convinced that they'd eat scales if they ate gator so naturally, they didn't

One time I read about these huge forests that all were actually part of one root system. One tree's roots went underground and sprouted up somewhere else, then it happened again and again and again, until it became a huge forest, but only one tree.
That's sort of what I feel DID is like.
We're all part of the same tree. We all have the same roots, we're all connected, even if it doesn't look like we are sometimes. Sometimes a tree sprouted where there was more sun, or less nutrient soil, so they look different. Sometimes they grow right next to each other, and sometimes they're so far apart you wonder if that tree is really a part of it.
No one tree is more or less a tree. It's impossible to tell which tree is the original, and it doesn't really matter. It's all just one huge organism.
Hey, you’re totally valid as a system if the trauma that caused your system isn’t what others might traditionally think of as trauma. What might be totally fine for one child could absolutely devastate another.
Some possible complex traumas that might not seem like complex traumas to other people include:
A drawn out divorce or custody battle in the family.
Parents whose relationship was visibly strained or volatile.
Watching another person be abused, belittled, or controlled.
Watching another person struggle with addiction.
Hearing frequent arguments in your household.
Moving house/area often.
Growing up in poverty.
Being bullied or teased in school.
Being belittled often by someone, even if it was “a joke”.
You or a family member/friend experiencing a long-term serious illness.
You or a family member/friend undergoing multiple medical procedures over a period of time.
Living in a generally chaotic household, even if there was no actual abuse.
Living with someone unpredictable and chaotic, even if they weren’t actively harmful.
Feeling controlled, monitored, or powerless.
Needing to care for yourself or siblings at a young age.
Being in a family environment where you didn’t feel comfortable voicing needs or concerns.
Trauma is trauma, and you were a child. You are not obligated to justify why your trauma was bad enough to create a system.

I really needed this post a week ago, I hope ppl who need it find it.

my 24 alters:
An introduction
Hey people! This is an introduction to me and my system, I'm not officially diagnosed with DID or OSDD but i do still experience alot of the same things as other systems. So with that out of the way, I'll start the introduction!
I'd like to be called Z while online, I'm the body's age (19) and the main fronter/host. I'm the one who has to go by the body's name most often, functions at our job most of the time, and keep up with the general day to day things. The system consists of about 14 of us in total, including myself.
I'm going to wait for everyone else to introduce themselves properly but i will give a list of names so that at least names are known
There's me of course, Z, Jay, Starhopper, Lycan, Lady, Noir, Piki (called kiddo normally), Soul, Sam, Kit, Gibbos, Elizabeth, Cupid, and "Dame" (she doesn't have an actual solid name, this was all i could think to call her)
So yeah, if you have questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, I'm mostly here to post memes and whatever everyone else posts
I'm reblogging this because there's an update to this.
There's now more people here, they are Shaun, Finley, and Maurice as far as i can remember, bringing the total of us to 17, Piki now goes by the name Bev, and "Dame" is now named Pandora, and a birthday happened so the body is 20 now.
And i think that's everything -Z and Starhopper
