I’m standing at Montgomery station looking at this payphone and wishing it worked.
Partially because, I’ve been reminiscing recently on the times when I had less than I do now (subsidized housing, low-cost phone bills, access to the means with which to buy essential things). And I just think we remember many times when I was lost, and needed someone to help me, and I couldn’t call anyone because I didn’t have a phone.
We have the technology, to bring back payphones, and to make them free for anyone who needs them. With the amount of tourism that San Francisco gets, there’s absolutely a demand for payphones.
It could have direct lines to operators who help locals and tourists transfer to BART, navigate through the city, through paying, through reporting grievances. It could even come with an app that can be used there as a sort of “so, your phone died- here’s a loaner for right now so that you can figure out your next steps”
This is a concept that already exists other parts of the world, and has been wildly successful, they even become sort of landmarks of their own.
S2 of The Pitt isn't even out yet and I already seeing the character with chronic pain being called weak for becoming addicted to drugs to help ease the pain, can y'all at least wait until something airs to show how much you don't respect disabled people??????
so I don't watch the Pitt (I can't afford hbo lol) but I do have chronic pain (chronic migraines) and honestly I'm on 3 different meds to prevent migraines rn and I STILL get breakthrough migraines. Like I will never blame someone for being addicted to pain meds. most people who have chronic pain just can't get relief and I don't wish that hell on ANYONE.
this is why we have this blog tho if you see that kind of hate please screenshot it or report it here we'll try to call it out. Like I really don't care how you became addicted to drugs whether it was purely recreational or you have chronic pain addiction is a disease.

happy disability pride month and once again, FUCK lazy subtitles. fuck the [speaks foreign language] instead of actually transcribing the words, fuck shortening sentences and changing whats been said for no reason, fuck censoring swearing in captions but not in audio and fuck anyone who says youre being 'too sensitive' for being upset about a lack of accessibility
Thank you to everyone who got me to 1000 likes!
Thanks everyone!!!!
Do You Know This LGBTQ+ Disabled Character?

Any tips on how we, visually impaired people, can recognize fake news? For example, how to tell if a video is fake? Many people say "observe details like the movement of the mouth or the shadow" but I have low vision and I'm losing the perception of details. AI is making everything worse, AI voices are becoming more and more natural. Imagine me watching a video that is supposedly of idk a journalist talking about something important and trying to figure out if the video isn't a deep fake :(
So I've been on tumblr for a while now. And I'm a mod on @fandomshatewomen as well and one of the best ways to recognize fake stuff ask your followers. I know I know that's kind of hard to do if you don't have a big following.
one practical type is to literally check the notes like the tags, some of it might be tagged "ai" or "fake"
you can always tag us too!!! we'd be happy to reblog and ask our followers to examine it. (I also have bad vision my own vision is p bad I have astigmatism and have been called out for reblogging ai stuff in the past it happens). just be ready to mess up be humble, and delete quickly or make a comment on the post.
*hugs* its ok if you can't catch all the ai/deep fakes. just be ready to delete and apologize.

The links didn't work for me but it was super easy to find and sign up for!!! I'm a little disappointed I couldn't sign up for asl 102 because it appears to run congruent to 101 but there's always next year!
Thanks!

My physical therapist told me no gaming until I have something to support the weight of my Xbox controller. It's apparently causing some of my hEDS problems, like twisting and pulling things wrong. I found what I'm looking for, and it's 100% customizable, complete with a base to hold under my legs, a gooseneck cord, and a platform to put the controller on. I'll also need to get velcro to secure it to the base.
Here's the website:
In-stock or custom flexible gooseneck tube positioning arms. Our SnakeClamp line of products is a flexible stand, mount or holder for iPads,
It's 100% out of my budget for now, but if you, or someone you know, could benefit from something like this, please share.
Here are the parts the company said would work for what I need:
9" long flexible gooseneck hose arm, very stiff, chrome-plated finish. SUPPORTS 2 lbs. fully extended in the horizontal (weakest) orientatio
Our steel Round Base is an attractive and functional mounting option for your SnakeClamp. It looks great on a table or desk with it's black
And a mounting plate. I'll be getting both the 3x4 inch and 4x5 inch, to see what works best. Plus, velcro strip to secure the controller to the mounting plate.
Mounting Plate 4" x 5" with hardware. 3/8" thick black ABS plastic with counterbored 3/8" hole. Attaches to flexible gooseneck or rigid arm
Mounting Plate 3" x 4" with hardware. 3/8" thick black ABS plastic with counterbored 3/8" hole. Attaches to flexible gooseneck or rigid arm

I haven't seen Wicked (2024) yet but I've read the book & been a fan of the Musical for nearly 20 years. I get that there's lots of new fans but Nessarose was ALWAYS supposed to be disabled.
https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/wicked-marissa-bode-ableist-comments-nessarose
Don't stand by when people make these comments without correcting them!
Well yeah I totally forgot about the snake comparisons because it has been nearly 25 years since I read it. Still the point stands that nessarose is always disabled and the musical kept her disabled giving opportunities to disabled actors.
Also she's a woc now
