DIY Instagram Memory!

Local blogger Chelsea Foy made the cutest little diy project with our contact cards! She makes a solid point, these are usually for business cards, but this is way better!

Here’s how Chelsea broke down how to put together your own Memory game with your very own Instagram photos in 10 minutes!

1. Pull up SPS’s Contact Card page and click “Create Yours.” 2. Select a set of 60. 3. Sign in using your Instagram account. 4. Browse your Instagram photos on the next screen and click on the images you’d like to use. You’ll choose 30 images. On each image, click the Up arrow once to order 2 of each (so you can match them, duh!). 5. Once your photos are selected, click “Choose Template.” This is where you decide what you want the back of your Memory cards to look like. Choose the one you’d like best! You can pick one with text and type in a message, or you can upload your own image. If you like the image we created, you can download it right here and upload it for your own game! 6. Click “Preview Your Print.” If everything looks on the up and up, you’re ready to order and finish the purchasing process.

Tiny Book Save-The-Dates! 💕

Local San Franciscan Ashley Smith created these wonderful save-the-date keepsakes with our tiny books & mini stickers.  One tinybook order comes with 3 books that measure 1.7" x 1.5". They're even magnetic so you can give something special for your mom to keep on her fridge. =) Each little booklet comes with 24 images and you can duplicate the images throughout all 3 books or have the option of 72 individual photos. Valentine's Day DIY gift from the best dad ever! Scott McKenna survived a ruptured brain aneurysm three years ago and as result nearly died. After this life changing event, Scott wanted to gift his daughter something special to remind her of him. Using our mini stickers & 4 square sheets of paper, he assembled this into the shape of a heart & had it custom framed for his daughter. Thank you Scott for sharing your story with us! Check out Molly White's awesome DIY framed print display for interchanging her minisquare prints! 

Molly picked up some plain frames and painted them a magical sea green color. She then cut up some craft paper to use as the backing for the frames and then glued baby sized clothes pins to the front to hold each print.

Every now and then, a roll of film that should never have been used produces downright beautiful results. 

On a recent road trip to California, photographer Mike Burchett accidentally shot a roll of film that had been cooking in the hot sun for hours, creating some dreamy effects on his photos.

The Making Of: Bookbinding with @pegandawl

For Philadelphia artisan Margaux Kent (@pegandawl), her love of bookbinding—and of Instagram—has its roots in journaling. Having made books since she was a child (“The first book that I made was called Circis Acters for Mommy. I must have been 6.”), she took up the craft in earnest after taking it upon herself to repair a beautiful book that had fallen apart.

Once preferring to build large-scale books, she turned to her signature miniature style as a matter of efficiency. “I use only antique and vintage leather to cover my books, so naturally, I had lots of gorgeous scrap,” Margaux explains. “I made a few miniatures to draw attention to my other journals one year at Renegade Craft Fair and they ended up selling first. I got into minis from there.”

Together with her husband, Walter, and a team of a few others, Margaux crafts for Peg and Awl, a small business creating products out of “treasures found and recovered from misfortune and neglect.” Her books and other handiworks—photographs, jewelry, writings and more—populate her Instagram account, which she sees as a new extension of her past journaling habits.

"When I used to write all of the time, I would write to my imaginary children and grandchildren of the future. I always had to have a someone out there who was reading," she says. "Instagram has become the voice that once belonged to the pages in my book. ‘Fill me! Identify something worth identifying!’"
