Something about me is that I like the show Girl from Nowhere. So, I decided to watch the new one because I've been craving more content from it. Here are some of the things that I'd like to note, after describing the episode to you.
There are generally darker themes with Girl from Nowhere, so if things like suicide, death, gore, and perversion make you queezy, maybe don't view this one.
(Tumblr won't let me add more than one video, so I chose the superior one.)
SPOILERS AHEAD
1. Sky- The first episode is about bullying, and it seems that Nanno is like a known entity here unlike in the original. In the original, Nanno just kind of appeared and then dipped. There was no urban legend about her anything like that. I kind of like how they've changed that in the reset.
The episode starts out with Nanno speaking about human behavior while a dude, Sky, is getting bullied. She basically says that hurt people end up hurting people. The character Sky is an avid believer in Nanno. As I said before, she's well known on the internet, and he has like A LOT OF PICTURES of her that he's made.
Well, he gets beat by this dude and his 2 cronies a lot. Sky tries to get help, but that ends up getting his bully in trouble, which then gets him literally beat to a pulp, recorded, and btw they fuck HANG HIM! At least that's what I saw. There was a prior scene where I guess he attempted, and posted a thing that said, "I'm so stupid for believing in Nanno."
So, I guess that the hanging and struggling to breath was finally enough for her and she fucking floats down like Nanny McPhee or Mary Poppins!
Anyways...
She decides to help him and essentially tells him that his bullies worse fear is no one being afraid of him anymore, and of course, a plethora of humiliation rituals ensue.
First, they replace his desk with a toilet. The dude gets pissed off and Sky leads him to the school basement where they find a clown dummy. The bully's hand, that got demolished by his dad, starts leaking puss and he goes to the school nurse.
Nanno finds him asleep, and bro wakes up WITH A FREAKING SQUEEKY HAMMER FOR A HAND.
Well, everyone starts laughing at him and he decides to go back down to the basement where he finds Nanno, well more like she revealed herself to him and his goons. There's a whole sequence of him getting rage baited by Nanno, and unlike how she thought Sky would react (beating the guy back), he forgives his bully and shows him grace.
It cuts to both Nanno and Sky on the roof discussing the outcome, and she asks him what he wants from her. They lean in like they're gonna kiss, and then he takes a photo with her. Just like that, he's gone with the wind.
Also, I appreciate this guy. Look at him! The dude wanted Sky to hurt this little weirdo. Why? Look at that face!
2. Panty- The second episode is about 3 perverts selling girls panty pics. They all get humiliated, like the girls who's pictures they took.
It starts out with Nanno once again talking about human nature. She mentions that the higher the amount of debaucherous actions, the greater the punishment. 3 female volleyball players are in the principals office complaining about the pictures. The principal of course does absolutely nothing about it and blames them. She also tells them to show the new student around...Oh hey look it's Nanno. She's also kind of manspread, probably because of the theme of this episode.
(Am I the only one who thinks that she kind of looks like Miranda Cosgrove?)
The dudes get a whiff of Nanno and decide to try to get pictures of her panties to sell because they're like "Woah, she's so hot!" Every time Nanno is caught on camera, the camera malfunctions before showing anything. Now comes the karma.
One of the camera's capture a photo of Nanno, but oh, it's not her. It's one of the dudes pallywacker. His friends start calling it small and point out that it has a mole on it💀 He keeps looking at the picture on his phone, bumps into Nanno, drops the phone, she picks it up, and then goes, "Is this yours? It has a mole on it. Is it?" Which freaks him the fuck out.
They try a new tactic of hiding a camera in the next guy's shoe. He takes photos for the volleyball team and tries to meet Nanno. That's when he follows her to a random street and claims he wants to make a promotional video for the Mother's Day event the school is hosting. He slips the shoe camera under her skirt but guess what.
That's right...ANOTHER DOG!
And guess what it does? If you guessed, Mauls the guy...THEN YOU GET A BRAND NEW PAIR OF TESTES! Unlike this guy. It mauls the dude's crotch, and the 3 volleyball girls make humiliating posts about it. There is an image that I'm a little skeptical about. One of the girls shows a drawing she made, but it kind of feels ai. Maybe it's not, but the pastey man is throwing me off.
The third dude is getting stressed and also notices that his friend's camera shoe is missing. While he's at his house worrying, a ring is at his door, and yep, it's Nanno. He realizes that he could possibly get those pics and invites Satan herself in. He tells her to wait while he goes and gets some drinks, and quickly grabs spy cameras and rushes to the bathroom.
He hides a camera in the tiny trash can bag and comes back with like a shit load of drinks. He keeps offering them to her and she is absolutely chugging those thangs down. After she finishes them all, he's like, "Need to go to the bathroom?" She didn't and he tried to offer water, but she didn't want it and then left.
The next day Nanno gets a message from one of the "girls" and she goes into the photo room. The 3rd guy is just straight out recording her and she grabs his wrist and forces him to essentially take pictures under her skirt. She has like a death grip on his arm and she eventually let's go and is like "They're high res so it might take a while for them to load🥰"
It takes all day for it to load, but the moment his mom gets back they finally load. (Btw, his mom is the principal) He posts the pictures to the perverts his group sold the other pictures to, and we get an uncomfortable sequence of dudes rubbing their crotches.
The next day is the Mother's Day event, and I guess that all the staff who have kids at the school were on the stage. I don't really know, but the principal was up there and so were the 3 perverts. On the screen behind them, the panty shot pictures appear and ole girl was stressed and was asking who did it. Nanno raises her hand and shows footage of the 3 boys hiding the cameras around the school.
This causes the principal to pass out on the ground. A student who was recording the whole thing ended up looking at her panties...the picture that loaded was of his mom's. He rubbed one out to his mom's panties. The trash can camera looked up HER skirt. The entire group of teenage boys rubbed one out to this dude's mom.
Everyone eventually chooses to attack the group of boys and they tie them up on stage. They put on those weird eyelid torture device things on them, and Nanno is like, "If you wanted to see my panties, you should've just asked," and they're scared as she lifts up her skirt.
This was 100% an excuse to show off Becky's butt, but it is pretty iconic not gonna lie. Did not expect the tighty whiteys with her name bedazzled on it. That's the end of the episode btw.
3. Hater- I'm gonna keep it short. This entire episode is literally a dude being a massive hater on a classmate who posts videos of himself playing with his dog. They go in between like real life and a meta war and in it comes one of my favorite clips ever.
Literally just one dude being a hater and then HORSE MAN. Btw this was Sky. Sky is like stalking her or something, it's pretty weird.
4. Only Nanno- This one starts out with a girl named Blossom who started a "My body, My choice movement at her school and also has a nsfw only fans type account. The headmaster found out and scolds her, but she's like "I never said what school I go to, and I can do whatever I want with my body." She could've ended it there, but she then goes, "You know, you could be a sexy headmaster too if you tried undoing a button."
Blossom goes to her art class and guess who's back, again! Nanno. She's right beside her and tells Blossom that she's a big fan and took inspiration from her.
Well, Nanno ends up getting more followers than her which ends up with her getting a bunch of gifts. Blossom got jealous and reports her to the headmaster, she also redacts her stance. Nanno does a live stream saying that she might need to delete her channel, which causes a dedicated fan to donate stuff to the school.
There's a whole section that is basically a strip competition between Nanno and Blossom. You know the song "Anything You Can Do"? So imagine that, but stripping and then Nanno shows her thanga thang at the end. We the viewer don't see it but her audience does.
She decides that as a gift for her all of her subscribers growing her channel, she'd draw lots of the top donors to pick who'd go on a date with her. Broskis, the winner was Sky. Like GOOD GOD DUDE. HOW DOES HE KEEP FINDING HER????
Because she lets him. She chose him for the date and he didn't even donate. This pisses off her fanboys and offers to redo it, but this time, it's a one night stand. The fact that the school has done jack shit is probably the craziest part to me so far. And if you think that that's crazy, THE HEADMASTER BASICALLY ANNOUNCES THE WINNER BECAUSE THE GOAL WAS TO DONATE TO THE SCHOOL EDUCATION FUND!
Blossom stirs the pot by saying that everyone deserved a reward because more than one person donated a lot of money. They basically raid the hotel room that Nanno told the person to be at which is...THE HEADMASTER.
The donators beat the shit out of him and then we get a scene where they dogpile Nanno and she GETS RIPPED TO SHREDS THEN GOES, "My body, my choice Blossom." The Cgi is not the best, but it got the point across.
The ending confuses me a bit because I can't tell if Blossom is scared or happy that Nanno got ripped apart. She just stares at the camera and goes "Welcome back to my channel, remember our bodies belong to us," and like smirks.
I'd say that it was okay, but it felt extra fan servicey. Also, they're really pushing for a romance route.
I will say that this did kind of remind me of one of the episodes in the og, but I don't know what karma was served. It also feels like Blossom did not learn a lesson either.
By this point, this Nanno feels a lot more human, with human flaws. It doesn't feel like she has a duty to fulfill, but rather that she's doing it for her own enjoyment.
5. Corrupt Lies
This one follows a place called the 100-year building which is being used as a school and is actively crumbling. A group of students are spreading awareness about it and the council is trying to cover it up. A literal piece of the school's name CRUSHES A TEACHER. We then get introduced to this evil diva and her little dog too.
Homegirl is the dressed like a supervillain and is the dean/principal/headmistress 😭😭😭.
She gets mad that her council hid this from her, but Nanno told, so she makes Nanno one of her deputies. The council gets mad at Nanno and tell her not to report directly to the headmistress. She then snarks one of them, and I cannot emphasize enough, how much this lady absolutely just shreds a bag of (hay?) like a feral angry cat, in the background of this scene.
Nanno implies that she'll be an inside man for the exclamation group(the ones against the building.) There's a chess sequence with the dude she's talking to here, where he revealed that he contracted his wife's company to do construction on the building.
The exclamation group is having a meeting, but Nanno leads the other deputies to their meeting spot. Most of them decide to escape through the window except for their lookout and a dude with a broken leg. They get brought in front of the school, and the headmistress says that their claims were false. She shows an engineer saying that the building won't collapse and then gives the 2 boys the chance to point out their comrades, but they're real like that and don't snitch.
After that, 2 members of the group are talking and one of them says that he doesn't know if the cause is worth sacrificing their future. The remaining 3 meet up anyways and guess who was hiding in their secret room, yep Nanno. One of the members gets frustrated and walks out, while the other 2 stay. Nanno hands them a video about the engineer being fake and the exclamation group posts it.
One of the council members is worried that the students will notice the giant fucking crack in the pillar, and Nanno recommends covering it up with a tribute for 2 dudes who broke up.
Fast forward till there was only 5 days left, the member who walked out hands a drink to another member and they once again have the "What is this all for. Maybe we're wrong talk.
Another fast forward to the day of opening and our diva is in this outfit.
And yes, this is OUR diva twin.
The council enters the building first, and the first line of students enter the building. The main member of the exclamation group remembers something that Nanno said about how the students wouldn't care if the building collapsed, and does one of the smartest things he could, he took one of the boyfriends and started a conflict away from the building.
He riles up the guy until his boyfriend comes to help him and apologize for breaking up, this makes its way to the students in the building who then run out to witness it. The council is still walking up the stairs to the Head office. The building starts to collapse, and the students make it out safe. Don't worry, the dog jumped out of the lady's arm and ran its ass off down those stairs.
Nanno comes out of the rubble with the dog in her arms and that's basically the end of it.
I liked this episode a lot.
6. Election- It's 2 people running for student body president dude. Nanno and a dude named Paradorn. Smear campaign stuff happens, but Paradorn ends up winning. Nanno congratulates him, but hands off a flash drive with footage of a person in his cabinet replaced 3 boxes of ballots. He beats the mess out of him. There are flashbacks in between the hits of him beating someone else. I forgot to mention that he pushes a guy out of the way of a speeding vehicle.
He then stands in front of the school, tells them about the fraud, and then resigns.
Nanno and Paradorn meet and she questions why he didn't get rid of the evidence. He tells her that he'll need a clean record as a politician, and they both speak like they've met before. She tells him that they'll see if that was the right choice in the future, and he grasps her hand. It seems like homegirl astral projected our boy into the future. He sees the incident bite him in the ass, and we see that they're actually at the part where Nanno handed him the flash drive.
He's in a meeting with his group and he starts Tomura Shigaraking his neck. He eventually meets her on an upper level and asks if it's real. He also demands that she delete the copy (there is no copy). She ends up showing him video of him paying the dude he "saved" from the car.
He gets rage baited and ends up stabbing Nanno with a pencil, he then gets choked out before getting punched by (this is getting old) Sky. Sky helps her, only to get stabbed in the neck by Paradorn. He goes ham on them and then dumps their bodies in a large body of water.
Nanno and sky are sinking, but she wakes up and tries to save Sky. Uh, oh he's dead. She carries his body through these gates. I guess she hand delivered him to the afterlife. Guess what, that future she showed him, came true, but instead of voter fraud it's murder! He eventually jumps, and Nanno states that she hopes that there are still good people left in the world. The end.
Summary of how I feel.
I'm generally easily pleased so I'd give the show a solid 5 or 6 out of 10. Some of the episodes were so lackluster like the hater one. Most of the Only Nanno episode, was just meh. I did like the Corrupt Lies one a lot. I also like this new characterization of Nanno. While I didn't like how Sky somehow reappeared every single episode, he did show Nanno's more human side. But...I think that he wasn't really needed after episode one. He just kind of...appeared and then was gone at the end of every episode.
Now somethings I absolutely DESPISED about the show. I swear it felt like the theme song played constantly. There was always some form of the song playing at intense moments, and all I can think about is the fnaf movie intro song💀. I kept hoping for a moment of silence from that song.
I'd also like to say, some of the things that happened felt like nothing was learned.
To end on something I did like, I loved the dogs in each part, even though there was no dog in the last one. I have a feeling that the dogs represent kindness and the last one not having a dog is symbolic of the absences of it or some shit. Anyways, if you read this, God speed.
If only if only the woodpecker sighs the bark on the tree was as soft as the sky why the wolf waits below hungry and lonely he cries to the moon if only if only
