scrolled the separate jud and blanc tags and jud is still getting his flowers from the x reader girlies while almost exclusively the only people still posting abt blanc these past few months have been judblancers... see this is exactly what i noticed with blanc back in december he is treated more as an icon (dare i even say caricature - all the popular posts on tumblr that arent movie gifs are about him saying things in The Accent) than a character which is a shame bc 3 movies in the personhood really jumped out he is so layered and interesting once you dig into the fact that he's kind of a freak with his own flaws and desires that can actually veer into the extreme!

so yeah it does make sense that people doing priest yaoi are the ones sticking around and peeling off those layers bc he is literally canonically gay (or as close to canonically as it gets) and has religious trauma. when you combine and contrast this knowledge and his behavior in the latest movie with the things we learned about him from the previous ones you get such a Character to mull over and analyze.

the internet has been so quick to say he's the best "new" character and a gay detective in a big franchise to boot just to play with him for a month after a new movie comes out and then put him back on the shelf until it's time to rake up notes on a new gifset or laugh at his accent or to get mad at people shipping him with a priest despite the fact that those fans are the only ones actually digging into him and analyzing him in ways that are likely going to end up informing how fans will interact with him in future installments and take him more seriously as a gay man beyond the detective persona. so you're welcome
