“Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, you were bigger than the whole sky… I’m never gonna meet what could’ve been, would’ve been, what should’ve been you” vs “I knew it, I knew you! Came back when it mattered, I saw you!”

WEARIN’ THAT SAME SMILE, MAN ITS BEEN AWHIIIIIIIIIILE
gives me hope that maybe all of us can work our way back to the girls we were when we picked up fearless idk idk
“Turns out, Taylor Swift is a huge ‘Toy Story’ fan like many of us. She actually requested to see an early version of then film and she wrote the song and then asked us if we wanted it and we said ‘Uh, yes! Yes we do.’ That was in February, so we had to keep that a secret since then.”
— Toy Story 5 VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan on I Knew It, I Knew You (x)
I loved showgirl and max martin/shellback but i realized how much I really do love the work her and Jack do together
he’s her musical soulmate, there’s no comparison to me. their work just has so much heart
taylor swift when she wrote i knew it, i knew you:
She’s defrosting
I REMEMBERED I LOVED YOU CAME BACK WHEN IT MATTERED I SAW YOU STANDING THERE IN THE LIGHT OF THE WINDOW WEARING THAT SAME SMILE MAN IT'S BEEN A WHILLLEEEE
I knew it, I knew you really does feel like looking in the mirror after a long time of not seeing yourself, and then finally recognizing the person you used to know and it feels all okay again
'seven' being about feeling like you've lost your younger self, wondering if you'll ever find that version of you that could be happy just swinging high over the creek, and 'i knew it, i knew you' being about feeling like that past version of you just moseyed back into your life like no time has passed, nothing was lost.
wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days? always a bigger bed to crawl into -> and though i can't recall your face i still got love for you -> 'cause i thought that i'd never find that beautiful beautiful light that shimmers that innocent light back like when we were young -> came back when it mattered, i saw you standing there in the light of the window wearing that same smile, man, it's been a while, but i knew it i knew you
"i knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired and you'd be standing in my front porch light and i knew you'd come back to me" in the context of "i saw you standing there in the light of the window wearing that same smile man, it's been a while but i knew it, i knew you"
thinking about “love has ways of bringing things back to life” 🥹
obviously it works on a personal level too but makes me think of "re-recording my past work made me fall back in love with it” 🥲
taylor is one of one when it comes to soundtrack songs. her ability to understand a character—their emotional arc, their perspective—and to perfectly capture that point of view while simultaneously writing from a place where she and the character overlap so that the song still feels completely true to her is just incredible. like it's never just the character's song, it's always hers, too.
